Do you believe in ghosts?

Recommended Posts

There is a programme in England called Most Haunted, where ghost watchers go to supposedly haunted sites around Britain for 24 hours. Th team includes parapsycologists, a medium, a sceptic as well as a presenter and production crew. There has been some compelling evidence to support the existence of ghost's. I personally believe there is something beyond death. DO YOU?

One thing that I always find amusing is that people find ghosts scary. Surely if you see a ghost then it proves that there is an afterlife, surely something to feel happy about.

The same applies when people say I don't believe in the Devil because it is all too horrible to think about, but I think that if you where to meet him then it would prove that there is a God.

Just the odd thing I think about every so often.

I believe only in those that haunt our mind. These can be good or bad depending on the deeds that we have carried out and my manifest themselves before us if we dwell in them too much. Whatever you think you have gotten away with, you haven't with the most important person: YOURSELF!

I think that beyond death there is nothing. Absolutely nothing. And this doesnt have a feeling or anything our mind can describe. It is beyond our comprehension. It's not bad and not good. Not sweet or bitter, not dark or light. It is just...nothing. Something which at best could be described as the most beutiful thing of all as it is completely intangible and free of everything.

If there's nothing beyond death, that what on Earth is the point in living?

Anyways, I do believe in ghosts, but it's not something I'd like to mess with. As far as I am concerned, ghosts, psychic powers, and so forth represents the relm of evil, demons, and so forth. I myself am a Christian, so I believe in an after life - Heaven & Hell. I also believe that going to one or the other weighs beyond "being good or bad". However, I'm not going to go off into a religous monolouge, so I'll just end here.

Nice topic! :wow:

A recent ghost story… There is an alley behind a fence in our back yard; everyday the local kids are out there raising Cain. In the course of their playing, rocks and garbage and balls find it’s way into our yard. I do not mind the balls and when I find them I throw them back over the fence no problem but the rocks and garbage have caused a rift between them and myself to form, (Haha! I have become that crotchety old fart!) I threatened them many time I was gonna get a picture of them to give to the cops and one day I surprised them by doing just that. When I got the film developed I was the one surprised to see there is a sharply focused smoky, nebula almost totally obliterating the print. It is my belief I captured a photo of an evil something which hangs around this group of kids forcing them to misbehave. I will bring the print to the con.

What prometheus calls "personal ghosts" or whatever, I call it your conscious and/or Holy Spirit. :)

I don't believe in an afterlife, so no I don't believe in ghosts. I do believe in demons though, so that would explain a lot of the ghost stories.

I'm confused. How can you believe in demons and not the afterlife? Aren't demons associated with hell, the afterlife for the "bad" people of the world? Or are you speaking in a different sense? :wow:

I believe that demons are simply angels "gone bad". I don't believe in a literal hell. I believe hell in the Bible simply refers to the common grave of mankind, not a literal place of eternal torment. My belief is that when we die we simply cease to exsist, no spirit or anything. Which is just fine by me, I have no desire to go to heaven. Hope that clears up what I meant.

:wow: OK! I do believe in ghost or spirits. I used to have one visit me at night. I call him my "Night Spirit". I will not tell all as to what would happen when he showed up. But there where times when we would sit and talk to each other. So, YES I am a believer. :)

That depends. I don't believe in traditional-type ghosts. Like ones that visit people. I also definitely don't believe in demons. But I do belive in an afterlife.

I'm still not sure...I used to not belive in ghosts...then i did, and now I'm not sure what to believe...

I've never personally had an experience with ghost, but one of my really good friends believes there is a sort of spirit or ghost, call it what you like in her house. She once told me this story about it and its actually kind of creepy and makes you wonder...

Okay, here goes...I believe that 'ghosts' are demons or familiar spirits, that attach themselves to places, or even people who are open to them. Let me explain... My sister-in-law died in 1989 from cancer. I believe she went to Heaven. She no longer resided here on earth. My husband, myself, and our two children would go every other weekend to 'babysit' for her 7 year old daughter. Several months after she was gone, I would get this very 'uncomfortable' feeling inside when ever we would enter the house. I had never ever felt that way when she was alive, and really didn't know what to make of it. One night, when Anne was getting ready for bed, she told me that her mother came to visit her every night. She would watch her walk down the hallway, sit on her bed, and talk with her. The hair on my neck stood up and I knew that wasn't right. Yes, it could have been her way of coping with her mothers' death, but when accompanied by that 'uncomfortable' feeling, I knew that there was more to it. I also believe in the power of prayer and I prayed that Jesus keep the 'familiar', or 'ghost' if you prefer, away while my family was there. That uncomfortable feeling went away instantly and I've never had that feeling again.

I'm not afraid of them because 'Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.' 'Nuff said. :wow: I didn't realize this was so long until I proofed it! Sorry gang!

 Oh and a small P.S.

This was never discussed with her or her dad. I would never want to hurt them in anyway shape or form. This was all internal on my part and had nothing to do with them.

I know exactly what you mean about that uncomfortable feeling. I got the same feeling whenever I went to my grandparents house. I have no doubt that there are demons in that house. Whenever I was there I would just pray and pray for protection from them. My mom has told me that growing up she would lay in bed and watch "people" that she didn't know walking in her bedroom.

Okay...you've totally creeped me out..I guess I'll be staying up all night.

I said I don't believe in "ghosts" per se - which I don't. I believe that each of us has a spirit within us and that when we die our spirit leaves our body and goes to the spirit world to await the resurrection. I believe that demons such as those referenced in the New Testament are spirits of the one third host of heaven that was cast out in the war in heaven. They were cast out before they came to Earth to get a body - which is try to take other bodies - such as the herd of swine.

I believe people may have on occasion seen a deceased ancestor - if there was a pressing need but we probably don't hear about it. (some anecdotal evidence suggests a deceased loved one appears to people when they die to escort them on - I'm not in a hurry to find out however.)

This is a really personal story and I don't know why I'm telling it but I had a experience once - different than some of yours. I believe it was a dream but even at that I think it was real. It was during an extremely difficult time in my life - I felt frustrated and overwhelmed. I just wanted to toss it in. A beautiful young woman in a white dress appeared to me one night- I remember she had long red hair. As I sat on the side of the bed and cried she put her arm around me and held me and somehow let me know it would be alright. I felt very strongly that this "woman" was going to be my daughter at some future time in my life. My life didn't go as planned and I never had children but I still think about Mary sometimes - which is what I felt her name was. I wonder what lucky person had the chance to be her mother and how old she is now. Anyway that's my experience with the other world. Fortunately mine was better than some of yours.

I just meant certain stories aren't the best things to read when you're alone at 1:00 am. Thank goodness I have all these episodes of Star Trek I can watch
