  1. Life after death really is the final frontier. In the real world; some people have been declared officially dead for hours and all these people have had completely different experiences; some say they went to heaven and met everyone from Elvis  to the Virgin Mary. Others claim they simple experienced previously unmatched euphoria. Some claim that dying is like a dream, it is out of control, strange, insight but also frightening. Others claim they have seen nothing, felt nothing and were truly 'dead'.

In Star Trek the various writers behind the hundreds of episodes and several movie have tried to address this great scientific mystery. The problem is all these writers had a different idea, some didn't want to touch on the subject or even wrote to avoid it... after all numerous Star Trek characters are ressurected, cloned or so on and so fourth.

I think that a single idea would have been a little bit more difficult to swallow, part of Star Trek has always been the exceptance of others. In TOS we have a bridge where the crew are Asians, Americans, Russians, Africans, Europeans and even Aliens. Fast forward to the more modern days in Voyager where there is a white Klingon and a black Vulcan.

Sometimes, as a prodestant christian, I wish they would include some real world religions such as Islam, Buddhism, Christianity, Shintoism, e.t.c. Perhaps a christian crew member would argue that 'The Prophets' are like the entity called 'Q', and while all-powerful supernatural beings they are not actually god... much like the Founders, they play god. A Bajoran crew member might see this as an affront to their religion and argue against it. However, since Star Trek is an American program, and in America they choose to avoid the problem of religious disagreements rather than openly discuss them and make them a part fo the media as they are in life. I mean no offence by this comment, but it is somewhat true.

A more realistic idea would have been Dax talking with Worf about the Klingon Stovokor and whether or not he truly believes it exists when Captain Sisko is visited by the prophets so often. Just a couple of thoughts.

  2. Well, personally, of the two I would rather be stuck in a lift with Captain Picard over Patrick Stewart... mostly because I would have lengthy arguments with Patrick Stewart - mostly over his dislike of Tarantino. I remember when he said he hated 'Kill Bill' because it was violence against women as well as men. My reaction was something along the lines of:

"You what, mate?! Excuse me but isn't the world trying to achieve equality? That means that men and women should be completely equal... so if a woman wants to run around in a film with a samurai sword, killing people, like hundreds of men have, I think she should be allowed!"

Kill Bill will always make me smile because of the opening.

"Vengeance is a dish best served cold" - Old Klingon saying

  3. Will they include the pilot episode; featuring Captain Christopher Pike and Lieutenant Spock?

    "We hope so!" They yelled

  4. Alright... the last episode of Enterprise I watched was when Archer and his crew fought off some Klingon ships and then flew into a Nebula (I think that was the end of season 2) Then I went to University, and I missed out on the new season as a result.

I met up with my brother for a pub lunch last week and we talked about Star Trek for a bit, half of what he said went completely over my head. So can somebody please fill me in on what's been happening... who are the Xindi, who are the M.A.K.O, what character developments have there been, e.t.c, e.t.c?

  5. But isn't TOS already on DVD? If not, that sucks... I can get TNG and DS9 on DVD, what's wrong with Kirk and his crew! :flex:

How can we, the fans, make an effective change to this problem? :)

  6. If you remember the Cloaking device on the Pegasus allowed ships to also travel through matter. This 'special' cloaking device was probably dismantled. But, yes, the Federation did go on to ignore the treaty and now Defiant class and some Sovereign class ships do have cloaking devices. Also there was that holo-ship in on of the Star Trek movies. If there was ever a war between the Romulans and the Federation - the introduction of federation cloaking devices would be one of the reasons the war started; not a main reason but one of the sort of 'sub-reasons'.

  7. Sorry, I saw Patrick Stewart on T.V last night and he mentioned that fans of Star Trek considered touching his head good luck, and how it makes him really uncomfortable. I've never wanted to touch Picard's head. Have any of you guys? I imagine Mrs. Picard would want to touch more than his head.

  8. Look at this. It helps me to have a plan of each bridge. The only which ever made complete sense to me was the Galaxy class style bridge. But here is a picture of the Constituion class bridge:-

  9. It's interesting how many people like the 29th century uniforms and ships... since that uniform has only been in three episodes of Voyager [#50 and #51 Future's End] and [#118 Relativity]

  10. I'm gonna votre for the uniforms first seen in 'First Contact'... I'm also a fan of the uniforms introduced in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Here are some examples of uniforms throughout Star Fleet history:-

  11. I am thinking about writing a Star Trek fan script as part of college work. I want to set it in between Star Trek IV and the first episode of Star Trek TNG. It would be around the era of the first war with the Cardassians, when the U.S.S Enterprise-C was in service. When crews wore uniforms like these:-

Can people recommend episodes and films I should watch to acquire information on these things. Much appreciated!
