  1. Most people in western civilization hate rats because they carried the "black Death" plague around europe and caused the deathes of thousands of our ancestors. They also bite, and leave rat droppings everywhere and destroy anything they get n into. There's a big difference between rats and mice- rats can grow to over a foot long and have been know to kill cats, squirrels, small human babies. They are very tasty if prepared right! I like Bar-B- Que rat, and fajita rat, rat & noodle soup. Usually the biggest problem is over-cooking the rat, or boiling all the natural juice out of the meat.....it's a real art cooking good rat!

  2. Remember when the crew Mutinied in "Hatchery" and they were on the bridge with phasors pointed at each other......what if one of the MACO's had looked down and exclaimed......"Gee, My weapon is set to kill!" how would that have affected the stand-off? Can phasor settings be changed without interrupting their "cocked and locked and ready" status? It would be like setting around a table playing poker- "we see your stun setting and raise u to kill"!

  3. Romulan War Thoughts:

Per Star Trek Canon- Historical Facts- If the Star Trek Chronology Holds Water

Romulan War-begins 2156. It's between Earth and Romulans- it was stated by Spock that it was fought with "primitive atomic weapons" and the Romulan fleet not even equipped with warp drive. "Homefront" (DS9) implies that the war reached Earth and that civilians were killed. Romulan War ends 2160 by the Battle of Cheron- where the Romulans suffer a humiliating military defeat by Earth Forces-"The Defector"(TNG) also see "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield"(TOS) The battle of charon may refer to the planet Cheron. Romulan peace treaty signed..(1st Treaty of Algeron-2160) conjecture...not to be confused with the Treaty of Algeron-2311 which prohibits Federation from developing cloaking technology. Peace treaty establishes the ROMULAN NEUTRAL ZONE and is negotiated by sub-space communications-no face to face contact.

The Romulan War is so important to STAR TREK Canon and the Neutral Zone has always been a central plot point in so many shows....there's no way it can be avoided....but yes the NX01 does not have to be involved....but then again how can it not....the two powers in the conflict are suppose to be equally balanced in terms of ships and technology which results in a draw...stalemate...cold war. It's because of the reference to primitive atomic weapons that I have been critical of the producers introducing Proton Torpedos this early in the series...I thought the war with the Romulans should have been presented while Enterprise still used those crude missiles. As for the no face to face contact that's easy....instead of the Romulans not having warp drive--maybe they never see the need for visual communications....maybe they shoot first and never stop to hail. Since the Romulans and the Vulcans have been established as being distant kin..I guess that's just more information that the vulcans have been not forthcoming in reveling to the humans...that non-disclosure issue the vulcans have!

  4. actually i have, didn't u see the Discovery special where future police cars will have

emp pulse weapons where they can disable the electronics of a car they are n pursuit of.....i just want to beat them to it.

  5. sorry about that last post.....thought i was on the Ten Forward Forum..and that was a general "what about more ST horror" question.. Yes, more horror/thriller type eps would be great on "enterprise" and not just around Oct. 31st!

  6. I once proposed a Startrek Horror/Thriller Movie on the Startrek.com board.....it would be something on the order of a cross between Startrek/Event Horizon....based on the story of the S.S. Valiant which encounters the "Great Barrier" at the edge of the Galaxy...anyway a Vulcan was going to be the one who survives the encounter-having the highest E.S.P. rating..then he terriorizes the crew/ tries to take over the ship.....but not b4 toying with the entire crew..like rats n a cage...unleashing all those bottled up emotions on his crew mates....would have a lot of the darker parts of the bible-real animal like stuff.

  7. I think it would be a nice touch if they could show some examples of future visual entertainment/media technology somewhere n Enterprise- like VR (Vertual Reality) Viewing or 3-d holographic movies/shows.....I've been wondering why the TNG and the following ST series have still been using...audio only communications....when the special effects technology exists to allow them to protray some sort of video/audio communications. ;)

  8. The Nuclear Engine for Space Vehicle application or NERVA as well "Project Orion" and the English project "Daedalus" is indeed very different than a nuclear re-actor on a sub...Jim. They involve the use of a large dish on the rear of the space ship-(called a pusher plate) and exploding nuclear bombs behind the ship and being pushed by the shock-wave. The magno-plasma engines are very advanced concepts which would require a nuclear reactor to generate the electro-magnetic containment for the plasma, and probably would be limited to un-manned

smaller vehicles. Check out these links: www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedia/D/Daedalus.html
