  1. No I STILL WANT JULIAN

    Julian? Who's that?

I think they look the same age really.

I mean, was the purpose of getting a younger player who looks old, just so they can use him for the next 20 years or so?

    Ugh.

    They've ruined the franchise.

Anyway here is a nice pic that highlights why it was time to make the change:

  2. Pick your top five stories from season 1. I will give 5 points for first place, 4 for 2nd place and so on, and then total them up to find out what is the general view.

Anyway I might as well start off seeing as I suggested it, so here goes:

    1. Where No Man Has Gone Before (5 points)

    2. The City on the Edge of Forever (4 points)

    3. The Man Trap (3 points)

    4. Dagger of the Mind (2 points)

    5. The Devil in the Dark (1 point)

  3. Well that's the thing that annoys me.

Berman and Braga WERE capable of good work. It simply didn't happen on ENT or VOY.

I don't know what happened to their talent. I really don't.

Coto never impressed me at all.

Well that is were I think you are wrong. In my opinion the three writers mentioned did very well on Enterprise.

  4. Personally I liked the Suliban, they reminded me of the Gorn a little bit!

Brannon Braga, Rick Berman and Manny Coto.

Yeah these guys usually get the stick from certain people but (in the case of the first two) they have been involved with Star Trek since TNG so I think the argument falls flat. Anyway I think that Enterprise was a huge boost from the previous installment - I for one congratulate Brannon, Rick and most of all Manny, who really got the style closer to the original series!

  5. Thinking back on the Character of Pike it would be interesting to see how the series would have gone with him as opposed to Kirk. I think it would have been quite different in many ways.

Pike strikes me as a young Captain Picard. Very responsible and thoughtful.

  6. Can someone tell me the name of that American patriotic song that goes something like this: “And I’m proud to be an American because at least I know I’m free...”?

The reason I ask is because I have recently been to Vegas and they play that song for the Bellagio water fountain displays, it really works well together.

  7. Congratulations bysty. I remember my first few days at Uni, well just about , and you should really get the most out of the first couple of weeks before the hard work starts to set in. Anyway good luck and have fun.

In my first week the union set up a "school disco" night, not really my sort of thing but everyone was going and I thought it would be good for getting to know a few people outside of my department. I remember kissing a first year medic but rather ironically she gave me the flu that lasted for about two weeks!

  8. Who would you pick if you had to pick a favourite character, just one, from each Star Trek show?

Based on my own opinions I would go for:

Star Trek - Kirk (the best Captain and Shatner was perfect for the role)

The Next Generation - Captain Picard (a nice contrast to Kirk but no less strong, if not stronger in a more mature sense. A good role model)

Deep Space Nine - Garek (the funniest character of this show and one of the best written characters to appear. Only Worf can equal him)

Voyager - The Doctor (the only character I would consider. Funny with a dry wit, developed well throughout show)

Enterprise - Trip Tucker (I liked Archer but he started out a bit to brow beating for my liking, but he got better when this started to chip away under pressure. Trip on the other hand was the average man and seemed much more adventurous)

  9. Tactical Chief: A Vulcan. Not Tuvok though. A better actor would be selected. This character would start as the traditional cold logical Vulcan, but as time goes by we would have seen her become more emotional and aggressive, essentially becoming the "passionate fiery Vulcan" that Sybok was supposed to be. She would be the main ally of the captain and her confidant. She would be the exposition character who explains things for the viewers and moves the plot along. Essentially fulfilling the role Seven played. In fact, Jeri Ryan would have been a good choice for this role, now that I think about it.

Sounds very much like T'Pol! But I liked T'Pol so that would be fine with me, a much more complex character than 7 of 9, B'Elanna or Kes.
