I enjoyed the episode too. I agree Nimoy's delivery had a kind of removed quality, but it was well written and funny. I enjoyed the comments about logic, & where Spock came from, and a certain classic TOS enemy cameo.

Happy Birthday! Hope you enjoy your special day!
We miss you and your posts.

I remember an episode where Sheldon ordered and recieved a standup Mr. Spock, and was quite upset to discover it was the Star Trek (2009) version. I believe one of Sheldon's remarks was "Suck it, Zachary Quinto!"

I try to watch every episode of Big Bang Theory. It never fails to crack me up. IF you haven't watched before, you should give it a try.
I can't wait to see this!

Corned beef & cabbage, turnips, carrots, & apple sauce.

Why doesn't he just get Paramount to cloak the set? Didn't they invent that technology (or buy it from Desilu)?

I watched a few times & liked it. The scheduled time wasn't convenient for me. I'm sure it was expensive to produce. Maybe someone else will pick it up. There are certainly many other programs that aren't as interesting still on TV.....

It's always interesting to me to hear how stories and concepts got changed. This is one of my top 10 favorite TOS episodes. I would love to see an original script, or even the shooting script before Shatner crossed out Nimoy's lines! Although some might say that Spock's grunts carry more significance than Kirk's words .....

I'd drink to that ... if it weren't for my meds...

I thought Shatner had killed the franchise with Final Frontier.
Then I though Nemesis had killed the franchise.
These are talented actors and a hot director. Hopefully changes will not kill the franxhise. 3D does make me nervous tho. Costs more to see the film - old fans like me may have to skip a meal or some meds to pay for it ...

Star Trek: Voyager premiered 17 years ago today in 1995. Happy anniversary!

Ah. But, Jack, ... I thought that was actual footage from Vulcan.

It's nice to hear that shooring has begun, although wouldn't it be phasering... :P
I am glad to hear they are going to use more sets. That's a good sign in my opinion. I wonder if they will ever use the Vasquez Rocks as a setting, as a shout out to the original TV series?

It looks quite nice.
Maybe you just need a few more Lynx links....
Sorry I couldn't resist... :)

Glad to see you back!

I'm also surprised that Shatner had already been bald for a long time in the late 1960's.
I've always enjoyed that episode. Lots of humor and Spock not checking for contributions of the pilot's offspring.

Well, as Spock said, there are always possibilities....
Part of what I'm trying to say is that more "Star Trek" examples should be used to make their parallel universe point, because that is what Trek fans should be focusing on. For me, the more that "alternate timelines" are mentioned, I think of alternate meaning instead of, rather than in addition to. Parallel to me means others at the same time.

Saw this this morning while watching the parade. Very cool! Hope Paramount continues to promote Star Trek more frequently, not just when a movie is coming out.
-
I suspect that if in discussing this, Abrams or the writers used the example of the canon Mirror Universe and used the phrase parallel universe, as in yet another parallel universe, that that would get through to some hardcore TOS fans. It also would have been possible to have one of the Spocks make that comment, which could still happen. Something like: In parallel worlds, Vulcan still exists.
Or, alternatively: In parallel worlds, Nurse Christine still has the hots for Spock!

Any sort of classic films, such as War of the Worlds, Star Wars, Star Trek, Dune, etc, on a regular basis not just once in a while during holidays. I would have watched the Twilight Zone marathon but where we are I can't get sci-fi channel. As far as old TV - all kinds of stuff, Dr. Who, Star Trek, Space 1999, old Battlestar, new Battlestar, Sta4rgate SG1, etc. Sorry maybe their new stuff is better, but much of their older original programing was pretty bad, and I stopped watching Sci Fi as regularly as I used to when Stargate SG1 and Atlantis was on.
-
Gee, could blowing up a certain planet and creating a love interest where there was none have alientated anyone??? :)
-
I have never understood why SciFi (hate their new and trendy name) Channel doesn't show a whole lot more classic science fiction movies and old sci fi TV shows, instead of making some of the outrageous, and often bad, original movies. It's good for actors, I guess, but painful to watch at times.

It's definitely fun and funny. There is a particular theatrical special effect that pleased the audience.
