  1. The thing I hate about time travel is how easy it is to create paradoxes. I mean, in ST:FC The borg go back in time to assimilate earth in the past, but if earth was assimilated in the past, then they would never have had to travel back in time in from the 24th century. But if they didnt, then earth wouldnt have been assilimated in the past, and they would have had to go back etc. etc. etc. it just goes on and on.

Theoretically, creating a temoral paradox would cause the universe to explode. Lets hope time only ever goes in one direction eh?

  2. Here's what I believe our current options are:

TNG - 5th movie with Riker in command of the Enterprise-E.

DS9 - Big screen movie, all we'd need is a quick prolouge explaining the series finale, and maybe a few flashback scenes.

VOY - We really don't know what happens to the crew, despite fan assumptions, so I would think this leaves the biggest door open for a movie.  All they'd have to figure out is how to get Janeway back on Voyager, or whatever ship they use.

ENT - I'd say wait till the show ends, then do a movie.

Mixed Cast - I believe this could be our best chance!  Imagine this:

    U.S.S. Titan NCC-*****

    Captain - William T. Riker

Executive Officer - Shelby (from "The Best of Both Worlds")

Chief Engineer - Miles O'Brien (transferred from Starfleet Acadamy)

    Science Officer - (someone new)

    Doctor - Voyager's EMH (with a name)

Helmsman - Nog (Ferengi character from DS9)

    Counselor - Deanna Troi

That's just an example, but you see how it could work.

As for an entirely new cast of characters?  It'd just be a sci-fi movie with STAR TREK stamped on it. :assimilated:

Well, the TNG idea wouldn't work seeing as how Picard is still captain of the Enterprise and Riker has gone to the Titan. Even if Picard left the Enterprise, would starfleet really let Riker jump back aboard so quickly after gaining command of Titan?

I like the DS9 idea, the prologue could be a part of the opening credits, although I think to work it needs to have Sisko in it - could he be brought back in a convincing realistic (for the star trek universe) way?

My opinon on a VOY movie can be seen about 10ish posts up

ENT is my weakpoint on the star trek universe so i cant really comment

Mixed cast would be very hard to pull off successfully and would need a very strong plotline to hold it together, along with a plausible axplanation for how so many crew's from different incarnations end up on the same ship

    Anyone else got any ideas???

  3. True, there are a number of episodes that involve time travel, but how many of them involve intended time travel? Where they make a concious decision and attempt to travel in time? Thats what we were originally talking about

  4. It is my belief that at every single point in time, decisions are being made - what to eat, where to go, how to get there, when to leave etc. Each one of these decisions creates an alternate reality for each possible decision, we merely live out one, while alternate versions of ourselves each choose a different decision. This all runs through one parrallel timeline, like Sliders (anyone remember that show??)

  5. I checked back to my fact files, and not even they have an answer for why the special cloak was scrapped, hmmm

Am I right in thinking that a cloaked vessel needs lowere its power out put, to prevent being detected. I always assumed that was part of the cloaking device.

Your sort of right, the cloak puts a large drain on the ships power to keep it running within paramiters

  6. Yes, but you have to create a balance between strong characters and a strong plotline, I think Kes' departure was a good move for the series because it allowed for more interesting episodes later on ie with Neelix now he is on his own, plus that great episode where Kes returns

  7. I dont think mixing the different series' would work, it would cause confusion in some places, like why certain members of the different crews are suddenly together, and some are not (I mean, you couldnt have LaForge and Torres on the same ship - they are both chief engineers) And after so long on one ship, why have a number of them all moved on to the same ship/station/planet (delete as neccessary for your film plot) if they left their original ship/station they wouldnt move en masse to a different one

  8. I have a question for everybody, some of you may have heard it asked before and I am interested to see people's responses...

Imagine you could cure all the worlds diseases, totally wipe them from existance, but to do this you had to take the life of an innocent little girl, would you/could you take that little girl's life?

  9. I also think it was brilliant, in the later episodes where he takes more of a prominent role within certain episodes and you got to learn more about his background and his true self

  10. You deliberately didnt know much about Garak and that gave a hidden depth to his character, although parts of his life came out in parts, you never really found out the whole truth.

  11. Yeah, i know, but im refering more to losing track of time, y'know- like when you do something for a while and you stop and you have lost track of how long you have been doing it. I wouldn't want to keep asking the computer the time

But anyway, I think I'm leading this topic away from what it should be, oops

  12. That is one thing that puzzles me - It must be really hard to keep track of time in space I mean, its all well and good checking the nearest display every so often, but do you really want to kepp having to find a display with the time on it? it not like you can look out the window at judge it by the sun (or lack thereof)

  13. When Has It Ever Rebounded?

I dont believe it actually has ever rebounded in any episode. I took it from the 'The Official Star Trek Fact Files' so i assume it happened at some point during the cloaking devices original development and was a problem that couldnt be gotten around (allowing of course for the exception of Chang's BOP and the Scimitar)

  14. I love the episode where Quark, Rom and Nog accidently get thrown back in time and turn out to be 'The Area 51 Aliens' that crashed back in the 50's I think it's brilliant how they take part of real life (the whole area 51 conspiracy theory) and mould it into the script. I cant for the life of me remember the episode name or number though, I havent seen it for ages

  15. In the episode "Homestead", Neelix finally found home in the form of a Talaxian colony within a massive asteroid, at the center of an asteroid field.  As for the crew, with the exception of Seven, we saw a possible future of how everyone turns out.  While Voyager got home 16 years early, I think we can still assume that the Maquis get immunity and would have the option of staying in Starfleet.  As for the Doctor, I'm not sure, but in the future the finale showed, he seemed to be doing fine.  Maybe he'll start a holo-rights revolution, who knows.  The only character I feel we don't have the slightest clue what happens to when they get home is Seven of Nine.  As for Voyager, with all the alien and Borg technology, she's anything but "out-of-date".  Watch the series finale for new weapons and armor technology.

As for a movie, I don't want to see a "where are they now story".  On the other hand, if they do a VOY movie about the Borg, Species 8472, the Vaadwar, the Hirogen, or some other DQ race, or maybe even sending a refitted Voyager back out there, then we could have one heck of a movie on our hands!

Hmm, maybe i need to go to bed, im making too many mistakes. While we are on the subject of Voyagers advanced weapons and shields though, how come we dont see the advanced armour plating on the Enterprise in Nemesis? We know its after Voyager get back because of Admiral Janeway, and it didnt take very long to adapt the shielding to voyager, so I doubt it would be a compatibility problem. What are your insights on this?

Okay, go on..... what mistake have I made this time? lol
