  1. I would have to go with the "Enterprise" era. In TOS and TNG, they don't do enough exploration (they tend to stay within Federation space). In "Enterprise", it is all exploration. It is venturing into the unknown that intrigues me.

The original series was all about space exploration, nearly every single episode delt with some unknown planet or life-force. And yes, I would prefer the TOS era, free and easy, lots of time for exploration.

  2. OK, I see I may be in a time warp here and need to check the chronological order of things. ENT takes place _before_ TOS, geez I feel dumb now. So my question is why would they want to do that? There is no way they can make this series "look" more primative than TOS.

I want to see a series that picks up where Voyager left off and continue to explore the unknowns of space as in Gene's original "wagon train in space" concept.

  3. My cable company just recently started carrying the UPN network and I got to see Enterprise for the first time tonight.

I really don't care much for Scott Bakula as captain. I just can't get "Quantum Leap" out of my head, but mostly, for some reason, I don't percieve him as intellegent enough to command a starship.

I think Stephen Collins (as captain Will Decker) would have made a better choice for captain of the enterprise. I know he "merged" with Ilia in Star Trek The Motion Picture but through the magic of television he could have been brought back as captain here. But I also realize that Collins probably has obligations to the WB network and 7th Heaven and couldn't be captain ... I just think he'd have made a better captain.

  4. Funny thing, I remember watching this episode (when I was a kid) with my mom and asking her why this woman kept after Khan even after the way he was treating her. My mom's eye brows went up and she just grinned. After I grew up I realized it's all about sex boys and girls. Khan was probably hung like a mule, he _was_ a genetically superior male you know, LOL.

  5. I like them all but if I had to pick least favorites ...

    Season One:

What Are Little Girls Made Of?

Miri (I liked the story but the planet was just like Earth, "another Earth", the odds of which are astronomical. I would have liked it better had the planet simply been another class M planet ... not a duplicate of Earth)

    Season Two:

Friday's Child ("Do you say, you will fight me?". And they drag a pregnant woman about to give birth all over the place and half way up a mountain.)

The Gamesters Of Triskelion (just didn't care for it)

The Omega Glory (It started off great but then it became a battle of the yankees and communists in a flag waving patriotic grade school history class ... yawn. Sorry VaBeachGuy, it's just personal preference.)

    Season Three:

The Savage Curtain (just plain corny)

Turnabout Intruder (although I thought Shatner did a good job playing a woman, lol)

BTW, I actually liked Spock's Brain. I liked the exploratory asspects of it ... space exploration, I luv it!

  6. Sorry about that DS9 comment VaBeachGuy, I never really watched the series and now wish I had paid more attention too it, but I did watch the episode that featured the original TOS crew :) I'm just a TOS fanatic.

I should point out that my cable company only just started offering the UPN network this sepetember, if not for that I would have already checked out Enterprise. I've got a lot of catching up to do.

  7. The TOS crew were space explorers in the truest sense, nearly every episode delt with some unknown alien world or life-force. Add to that the terrific stories and you have one of the best television shows ever produced ... I love space exploration.

I can't really comment on TNG since I only watched the first few episodes of the first season, but that was enough for me to realize that this crew didn't explore as much and were "policemen" more than explorers.

DS9? They were based on a space station for crying out loud!

I liked Voyager and felt they were moving back to Gene's original "wagon train in space" concept and exploring the universe as "space pioneers". But there was something missing in Voyager that I just can't put my finger on ... maybe captain Kirk? LOL!

I have yet to see Enterprise but am making it a point to see it this week. It appears as though they may have gone full circle now back to space exploration?

  8. Personally there are a few TOS episodes that I can never see enough of, and not because of FX or big enemies but because they embody the soul of trek, and that is dealing with issues that we are facing in our current time, and how this issues can be self destructive to a society.

    Says it all, ddillard

  9. I love 'em all of course, but strangely I tend to like episodes from the third season. I guess this is because they weren't "aired" as often and I didn't get to see them as much growing up ... episodes like:

"Spock's Brain" (I love any episode that takes the crew to the surface of an unknown planet! "Shore Leave", "The Apple", etc.)

"And The Children Shall Lead" (what a scarry monster and episode!)

"Spectre Of The Gun" (killer excursion into surrealism!)

    "The Mark Of Gideon"

    "That Which Survives"

    "All Our Yesterdays"

    Also:

    "Bread And Circuses"

    "By Any Other Name"

    "Patterns Of Force"

    "Wolf In The Fold"

    "Metamorphosis"

    "Catspaw"

    "The Apple"

    "Who Mourns For Adonais"

    "Operation--Annihhilate"

    "Errand Of Mercy"

    "This Side Of Paradise"

    "Court Marshall"

    "Shore Leave"

    "The Enemy Within"

    "The Naked Time"

"Where No Man Has Gone Before"

    "Charlie X"

    "The Man Trap"

Well, those are my fav's, LOL!
