  1. I picked The Holodoc. But that's maybe a mood of the day.

Because Bones is also my fav doc. I do like him so much. Almost impossible for me to decide.

I've a personal story / connection to the Holodoc. As to me and my hubby Picardo looks like the former CEO of a big German chemical factory (BASF). This man's name is Mr. Strube. Therefore all the time I'm watching VOY my hubby says, hey you've got Mr. Strube on the screen again.

But that's our own internal joke because my hubby works with this company and so it's funny to see "his former boss" on screen.

  2. Okay, this time it's me who's the spoiler. No, I didn't like it, I rated it 4. And that only because of the shown acting skills by Degra and Archer.

I'm not sure if it makes sense to describe my reasons, since I'm obviously the only one here who don't like it because I'm having problems with "ends justify means".

  3. I'll listen to Star Trek themes in the car on my way to the office. The old ENT version is one of them.

I've still an old-fashioned tape player in the car. And I recorded all my fav stuff on tapes which I listen each day.

  4. I just finished reading "How much for just the planet",a TOS-era Trek novel. It was without a doubt the STOOOOOOPIDEST story I've ever read.

I seriously hope it was the author's intention to write a nonsensical comedy, and not a regular Trek book, because he failed miserably.

    Couldn't agree more, Stormtrooper

At present I'm reading another Net Force novel by Tom Clancy "State of the war".

I've read all the books of this series and LOVE it.

  5. 100 % agreed VBG

For me it's interesting to read other opinions. Sometimes I read points I haven't thought about before. OK, a plain simple statement "I loathe xxxx" bugs me. But I appreciate a well reasoned post - even if I don't agree.

Wouldn't be conversations when everyone shares the same point of view boring after a while?

  6. Have you heard of Quantum Leap?

Yes, but I've never seen it. All I know is that it was about some guy who would become other people in his life time due to a time travel accident and he had a hologram helpe. Also, it was Bakula's previous show before ENT. However, I've never seen it.

You're right about the story line CJLP.

You missed something by not knowing QL! You should catch a re-run or see parts of the QL marathon on SciFy Channel.

Same here, I haven't seen QL while it was originally aired. So when I started watching ENT I wasn't biased by knowing Sam Beckett. As to me that was an advantage. So I never searched for differences/similarities between both characters.

In the meantime I've got all eps from a friend and I LOVE QL. I think you, CJLP would like this show about helping others and friendship too. And you would love Sam Becketts morality and the lack of sex scenes.

  7. I do respect your opinion and your right to dislike ENT, William Stryker and your hope of a better next show. I personally cannot see it that way. I do like ENT very much, although there are eps which will never belong to my favs and there are decisions made by the main characters which I cannot follow. But in gerneral for me it's a good show, with mostly thrilling stories and the (for me) obvious will to hold up the Star Trek philosophy. As long as it stays that way I'll watch it.

And one thing should be considered in every show you'll find good and poor things - you can't find perfection anywhere.

  8. I think the problem is not that the fan base is fractured, as this will happen every time they do a new show, but that the fan base is extremely critical and negative to the point where they scare off new people who just want to watch the show.

    I agree, CJLP

That may not only be the case in the Trek fandom but a symptom of nowadays Western societies. Doesn't the press (and we too) tend to citisize in the first place. As an example: Last week the German handball team won and played very well. The reporter asked the coach afterwards: Is there something you have to citisize about your team though?

I personally would be glad if there could be more tolerance - especially among ST fans. And the will to see the positive side about things too.
