  1. Are there any shows or movies which fit you strict rules of morality, CJLP? Because more or less of female bodies are to be seen everywhere.

Like Spacetigger and the rest, me as a female, I do not have any problems with it.

What about half naked men in ENT. In various scenes Archer, Trip and the rest could be seen without shirt. And there are scenes in undies where "women" can see "interesting silhouettes" :borg2: And I have to admit I enjoy it.

  2. You're right, VBG. The management of the network did't like the idea of a woman as Number One.

I'm glad about the changes. That was the best that could have happened. Although I always liked "The cage" I do not belive that Startrek would have made it if there wasn't Kirk. Kirk and Spock are characters which elate people. Their names are known by people all over the world who have never watched Startrek - could you imagine that Pike/Hunter would have been able to achieve this? I think it was Kirks/Spooks charisma which made the fandom possible.

  3. Do mean the female Number One from the original pilot episode?

Since the management didn't like the idea of a female Number One (it was in the sixties!!) and the whole movie neither - Gene Roddenberry had to change the crew. But there was no clue given what happened to the former Number One.

In SciFi we don't know - in real life surelyeveryone knows B)

  4. According to those definitions, I am a fanatic.  I've watched all the series from the time they started, including TOS.  I have enjoyed every series and all the movies.  But I have a life outside of Trek, too. :dude:

    It's the same with me.

I know every episode of each series but I taped only some of them. I bought some movies and certain episodes.

I also bought the the DVDs of the movies I love. But I won't buy the rest.

I'm also sure that I won't by the TNG DVDs, but Im thinking about the Picard Special. I love all the Picard/Borg stuff.

I have a lot of TOS books and almost eachDS9 book and of course I buy each ENT book as soon as it is published.

You can also meet me each year at the Fedcon convention in Germany, but only for 1 day and not for the whole weekend. But you will never see me in an uniform.

Therefore I would call myself a big fan, but I have so many other things in my life (since my husband and most of my friends have nothing in sense with Startrek) that I do not see me as fanatic.

  5. I'd love to see Daniels return, too.

I do like the whole TCW thing. The stories are very interesting, the characters mysterious. It's a good idea that only one thing is for sure, all three of them, Silik, Daniels, the future guy, do only have their own interest in mind and help Archer only if it fits for them. This whole things gives the show a kick. I'd love to see more of this.

Much more than seeing Enterprise involved in a war - but you know my opinion on that in the meantime

  6. For me what a question???? There could be only one anwer: YES YES YES

Unfortunately in Germany at present season 1 is aired - they are in the middle of season 1. But since I prefer the Englisch original I do not care so much about it. If course I record it, but only to have it and to hear if I sometimes do not understand a certain word.

I have got the Englisch versions from a friend, also season 2. But unfortunately not all CD-Rs are working on my DVD player. Hopefully my friend is able to help me. Because I'm sooo curious. I can't hardly wait to see the rest of the episodes.

  7. I fully agree with Captain Jean-Luc Picard. The merchandising must really be an enormous business for Paramount. And ENT rates in US simply can't be that bad to be the reason for cancelling the show.

When I read about comparisons of people with other ST shows I often wonder, are our expectations bigger now than it was when the other shows were aired?

Me I love all ST shows, some more, some a little bit less and I think B&B are doing a great job with ENT

  8. If the Quarter Master can create clothing to match that of the inhabitants of a planet (Civilization), then he/she shouldn't have any trouble with dress uniforms. By the way, wouldn't the replicators take care of that? I'm sure they've already had to replace numerous uniforms with as many as Archer, Trip and Reed have destroyed.

Yeah, they really should have dress uniforms for formal meetings and when they offically have a first meeting with other species. And getting it from a Quartier Master (like in Civilization as you mention it, Lt Riann) sounds logical to me.

The usuall overalls always reminds me on working clothes.

Hopefully the designers will give them more practial dress uniforms and not ones like the poor guys from TNG had to wear.

  9. Also married for 19 years (next week is our anniversary) and still in love although he has one mistake :P he is not a Trekkie. But he is used to my madness.

I agree to all those who are saying that it's better being single than in a disappointing relationship.

It made me sad reading that the fear of getting hurt bothers. Don't you. You'll miss the best.

  10. Hmm.. Let me crew things a little bit up :P

You want him more decisive - stronger - not so casual with the crew? Do you want a new kind of Piccard?

Do you really think "ends justify the means" - Is that STARTREK????? Gene Rodenberry would rotate in his grave!!!!

OK, Jon is too trusting to strangers, and Porthos - he is cute no way and I love him, but as to me he don't suit on a star ship.

I also like to see characters develop and grow but I wouldn't want that extreme changes. As to me Archer is a perfect new kind of captain, refreshing and reliable.

When I first heard about ENT in the Internet, long before it was aired, and saw pictures of the crew (to that ime I had never heard about Scott Bakula before) I was sure I wouldn't like this show. I didn't like the interieur of the ship, I didn't like the uniforms and the actors didn't attract me as well. But when I saw ENT during a convention it took max. 10 minutes and I was facinated !!! Facinated from the atmosphere on the bridge, the way Jon interacted with the crew and the way he dealt with problems and that hasn't changed til now.

Therefore let him grow, the new challanges within the Delphic sphere will make him stronger but nooooo extreme changes!!!!!!!!

  11. Agreed. For me as a female fan I wouldn't be very happy seeing "my" captain married.

But in real life women need men and vice versa not only because of the physical aspect but also for the emotional backup especially when being a long time away.

Therefore the concept of having families with them like in TNG, DS9 and VOY (see Naomi Wildman) seems logical and necessary to me.

Thats why I always wanted to get Janeway and Chakotay together. Facing decades for the journey home and staying alone only because of Starfleet protocols didn't make sense to me.

Janeway isn't that attractive to men/fans, isn'ts she? :P And Beltram, hm... His fans might have some problems or would have been the romantic factor be more important?? But considering the way Beltram reacted at Fedcon last year I think maybe the writers didn't let them become a couple because of antipathy between the actors.

  12. Hi you oldies :P I was there too

In Germany TOS was aired the same time as soccer, and I tell you I remember the fights with my farther vey well.

But back to topic. As an observer I'd be more than happy to watch ancient times, like the Romans, the Egypts. The JFK/Monroe thing would also be very interesting

  13. Don't do this to the female fans :P

But to be serious. As Trip said to Jon in Silent Enemy: "Long distance relationships never work. And this is a long as you can get."

Therefore being married as a captain and "reporting home" seems hard to work to me.
