  1. Without a doubt, fellow Milwaukeean Marc Alaimo gets my vote. Marc defined evil ossitude as the first Cardassian in TNG's "The Wounded" an ep which introduced us to my fave alien race and gave Alaimo a chance to use his Galor class warship( The Trager) to good use by attacking the Enterprise-D. Alaimo's performance as Dukat on DS9 is legendary. Every part he played was unforgettable to this fan of all things Cardassian.

I would give second place to Brent Spiner. He was awesome in every role he played too.

  2. If one reads the TNG novel by Peter David-the title escapes me at the moment-he purports there that our fave entity from the Continuum has been assigned to look after Trelayne,to mentor him(I take it here that he is a Q, likely-in the novel) It's an interesting premise, and as a fan-writer I'd have no problem going with it...though as I think others point out, or may have, the Q don't by all evidence during the 3 latter series require physical tech to accomplish their ends. Anyway, I say have fun with the concept. They're both great characters. Esentially, officially, a Q, possibly not.

Good points. I can tell you know a lot about the Q backstory.

  3. Definitely. I would start by keeping Kes on the show. I despised how they did away with her suddenly and then brought her back in that ep that never should've been filmed, you know the one that is called "Fury". She was a great character that suffered from bad writing and a lack of creativity from the writing staff. I know that we could've come up with a better way to present her character to the viewers. She is imo, one of the best characters in the franchise.

  4. It was too bad to see Damar die-particluarly when he'd turned a corner, philosophically. It would be neat, to have him playing a role in rebuilding Cardassia, physically, and culturally, towards a rapproacment with the Federation, which, I suspect, as our country did after WW2, would look to both the suffering innocents there-and the promise of an eventual partnership, oneday. But, Damar's death did come like a classic hero-who-sacrifices.

I'm liking that idea. I especially like the correlation between war torn Cardassia and WW2 era Earth. .... and your totally right on about Damar's heroic death. :P

  5. If one feels that Jennifer Lien had some sort of deficit in talent-then I disagree. And I cite no less than Kate Mulgrew, who in recorded interviews said, and I quote, ''She's one hell of an actress'' Ethan Phillips, who, like the wonderful Kate Mulgrew, spoke of her''immediacy''; these were peolpe with no investment in telling anything but the truth re Jen as they saw it. Regardless of the circumstances of her departure, and I sometimes wonder, ''what if'', she to me WAS Kes in her portrayal. Period.

QUOTED FOR TRUTH :giggle: At least you are able to see to the heart of the matter here.

  6. I personally liked every aspect of the Kes character. I've said it before and will say it again... the writers really dropped the ball by failing to fully develop her character.

I honestly don't think it was the writers' fault. I think they gave the character plenty of chances to be interesting. Cold Fire, Warlord, The Gift, Darkling, Persistance of Vision. But IMO, it was the actress that failed to deliver.

I think it would have been realy interesting to have kept the character (perhaps with a different actress) and continue to develop her more. It would be interesting to see a species go through it's whole lifespan, that's something we've never seen on Trek before. We've always seen species that live a lot longer than humans and I thought it was a great change of pace to see one that didn't. Plus her powers were cool! I mean, come on, she could boil someone's blood for crying out loud, and start fires with her mind! That has to come in handy sometimes LOL

I disagree. Although Jennifer Lien had some good moments in those eps, there really was no development on the writers part for her character as evidenced by her sudden "breakup" with Neelix right after the events of the aforementioned "Warlord". An actor/actress can only do so much with the character and that is largely contingent on the creativity of the writing staff. Unfortunately, the writers were running out of ideas and decided to write Kes off. It was one of the biggest mistakes they did. After all, it was Garrett Wang who was supposed to be written off,but as soon as he made the "50 most beautiful list" of People magazine, it was ascertained that he may help the shows ratings. Therefore Kes was axed. I personally don't think re-casting the character would've done good either. The writing staff needed to be replaced imo. At least the catsuit laden Seven of Nine helped Paramount avoid having to do that :giggle: . Imo, the Kes character offered so many dimensions that the writers just didn't hit on.

  7. Imo, it was Chakotay and Seven of Nine. They looked great together. My second choice would've been Kes and Neelix. I thought that there relationship started off great, but suffered from a lack of proper development on the writers part.

I didn't realy feel the Chakotay Seven romance. IMO they didn't have great chemistry together, though I think that's largely due to Beltran and his refusing to read his scripts and being a bad actor. I also think that Seven's humanity was developed enough to be able to handle all the complexities that go with a romantic relationship

Thats fine B) . I really think it could've been a great thing had it not been so rushed near the series end. In any event, I still prefer them as my fave couple. Chemistry or not, they looked great together. :)
