  1. I saw this film and I honestly think it was the worst of the lot.

I agree with and applaud the courage and integrity of Royal Andorian in speaking her mind here. I also completely agree with her awareness of the multitude of continuity errors on this film. Its sad that the revisionist fans would go to such extremes to try and update a classic and find lame excuses to defend the many mistakes present in this flick. I would like to add the Spock/Uhura romance as yet another mistake on the part of the writers as they literally flushed all the established canon down the toilet with this flick.

I find the inclusion of Cardassian beverages in this film interesting considering they are my fave species, but the member that made the gross mistake of stating we are unsure of the first contact with that species should perhaps do a bit more research on that topic as it is established that first contact with the Cardassians was nearly 90 years after the time of the film and said first contact culminated in a Cardassian/Federation war in which a young Miles O'Brien was a participant. :superhappy:

I also thought the rude comment by another member about 'bitterness' directed at another member was out of place and without merit as it brought nothing to this thread and I personally found that comment to be an embarrassment to the spirit of star trek. Such rudeness only turns me off and I expected to see a higher level of maturity at this site that I loved to visit. Best of luck with growing beyond inane defensiveness. The two members in question need not be named b/c they know who they are.

  2. With all respect to Colbert, come on...this is our space station we are talking about-our mark on the heavens...our next steps into space..and someone wants to even consider naming some important part of it after a comedian? Not a scientist, an engineer, a great author like the legendary Isaac Asimov? There are plenty of options. Please! That sort of thing is better fit for something in the man's home town or something....not this grand a venture. Political satirist is still a satirist. As for a toliet...is that really necessary?

I agree with you completely, buddy.

  3. The Phage made the Vidiians into the textbook villains you love to hate.

True, but they were also some what sympathetic. The Vidiians were just trying to survive.

I only recall Denara Pell as having any sympathy. Its been a while since I've seen a Vidiian ep, so maybe you can refresh my memory about eps that show that side to them.

I would say that Vidiians were more like vultures than survivors. In many ways, I would compare them to an untenable cross of pirate and cannibal. I think that they crossed a fine line between 'surviving' and victimizing. They don't win any respect from me in the least.

  4. I'm a big fan of the original and count it among my fave films. I'm also a big fan of the remake with Keanu Reeves. Contrary to the narrow mindedness of some that have nothing better to do than trash something, I actually enjoyed it very much and was pleased to see our generation pay homage to a classic sci fi film by portraying it in a more contemporary setting allowing for a new audience to find this film. :roflmao:

  5. I gotta go with Star Wars. There was only light speed in SW, which I thought was more realistic than warp speed and trans warp drive. I liked the SW characters a bit more because they had more depth despite limited screen time. I love them both. Imo, though SW gets my vote.

  6. ^ Thats too bad. You know, I think Angelina Jolie or even Reese Witherspoon could be great as a female lead as would Tracy Scoggins imo, they have the ability and the looks to draw in a big crowd and bring in new fans

  7. Gary Oldman is a great choice, especially considering he revels in cinematic villainy. I also could picture Mickey Rourke as a Klingon and even Hector Elizondo as a cutthroat Romulan. I wouldn't rule out someone like Marc Alaimo or Frank Langella being great villains in a trek film, after all they have the history with the franchise of putting forth solid efforts.

  8. Whaaat? You are kidding me!Tha is so wild! Huh. Biddyibiddybiddy...that was a while back. Amazing happenstance I spoke as I did. And, yes, Morgan was one I mentioned previosly, as well. Nice goin' there, 'ol pal!

Oh, man. I don't know how I missed Freeman in your previous post. I'll throw another name at you for a potential captain. How about Richard Hatch. He seemed very good in BSG. How do you think he would be in Trek??

  9. Glad to see the Bond franchise get down to an out-and-out serious version...though am not into it as I am Trek. I think I would add Dennis Haysbert-again, a ''24'' vet to my list. He played a strong, and very likeable man there-right before we elected our first African-American CIC. And, for those who have seen it, he also is a fine leader in the CBS series(to me, very realisitc) ''The Unit''.

Yeah, I forgot him. Coincidentally, he began his acting career on Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. It would be great to see he and Erin Gray re-unite on a trek film imo.

I have another great actor to add to your list. How about Morgan Freeman? everything i've seen him in has been excellent.
