Study: Chimps Belong In Human Genus

    By Jennifer Viegas, Discovery News

    Closer Than We Thought

May 20, 2003 — Chimpanzees share 99.4 percent of functionally important DNA with humans and belong in our genus, Homo, according to a recent genetic study.

Previous studies put the genetic similarity between humans and chimps at 95 to 99 percent, so the new figure suggests chimps and humans are even more closely related than previously thought.

Scientists analyzed 97 human genes, along with comparable sequences from chimps, gorillas, orangutans and Old World monkeys (a group that includes baboons and macaques).

  2. This one is hard  I liked  ' Monty Python ', ' Yes Minister ', and ' Faulty Towers '. And for genuine stupidity I liked ' Allo Allo '

And I agree ' Mash' is the best thing that came out of the US.

Bless you Lollypop!!! Another 'allo 'allo fan!!! I loved that series! It was so hilarious! I was always so amazed at how well the actor who played 'that stupid Englishman who thinks he can speak French' got through his dialogue. That must have been so difficult!

You mean officer Crabtree. It used to bring tears to my eyes I laughed that much. They don't make comedies like that any more.

  3. What if Voyager left them on the planet and never came back? They could've been like Adam and Eve, and populated the whole planet, and created a whole civilization.

    Any thoughts?

It takes more than two people to populate a planet.

  4. KILLER BISCUITS WANTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER

( the actural AP headline )

Lisa Burnett, 23, a resident of San Diego, was

visiting her in-laws, and while there went to a nearby

supermarket to pick up some groceries. Several people

noticed her sitting in her car with the windows rolled up

and with her eyes closed, with both hands behind the

back of her head. One customer who had been at the store

for a while became concerned and walked over to to the car.

He noticed that Lisa's eyes were now open, and she

looked very strange. he asked her if she was okay, and

Lisa replied that she had been shot in the back of the head,

and had been holding her brains in for over an hour. The

man called the paramedics, who broke into the car

because the doors were locked and Lisa refused to

remove her hands from her head. When they finally got

in, they found that Lisa had a wad of bread dough on the

back of her head... A Pillsbury biscuit canister had

exploded from the heat, making a loud noise that sounded

like a gun shot, and a wad of dough hit her in the back of

her head. When she reached back to find out what it was,

she felt the dough and thought it was her brains. She

initially passed out, but quickly recovered and tried to

hold her brains in for over an hour until someone noticed

    and came to her aid.

    :rolleyes:hihi.gif

  5. Doctor Phlox. He has a great bed side manner.

But he sticks live little creepy things on you. ;)

I voted Puluski. Remember she was the only one who could save him when he had heart problems, and she saved his life.

I liked her better than Dr Crusher. I wish they hadn't got rid of her.
