How ironic that both nominees were from Germany this week and last
You've got to be happy that the Pens are staying put. I see they're getting a new arena.
This Week's Winner!
Woman Mistakenly Calls Cop for DrugsAP
COLBERT, Okla. (March 13) - A woman looking for a cocaine dealer called a number on her son's cell phone - only to discover she had phoned a police officer, authorities said.
Durant police Lt. Mike Woodruff said the 42-year-old woman called him by accident. His number was on her son's cell phone because he had been arrested previously on drug charges.
"She was looking through her son's cell phone directory and found my number," Woodruff said. "Her son had told her that if she ever needed help with anything to give me a call. I think she misunderstood.
"She thought she was talking to a drug dealer."
Woodruff said he played along and set up a meeting between her and an undercover officer. She and an alleged accomplice were arrested on a drug complaint.
Darn Caller ID! :)

To be 91 years old and on a roof is an incredible feat unto itself.

TAS is the only series I have on dvd, only because someone gave it to me at Christmas. I really do want to get TOS on dvd, but when I do, I want the new enhanced version.
I recently got TOS on DVD, and of course they will come out with the remastered version for more money. They have done a good job with the effects, although as I have said on other topics, for me it's always been the story and relationships that attract me to TOS. And inserting some of the CGI people in the remastered version even far in the background is a bit much imo, though I understand how tempting it was to do.
This is also one of my favorite TOS episodes. William Windom is awsome as Commodore Decker - it's a real scenery chewing effort worthy of ... Kirk I really enjoy this episode - there was a later treatment on the doomsday machine(s) in a novel I believe - and am glad more fans will get a chance to see and appreciate the story.
The NewVoyages group also made a sequel to "The Doomsday Machine" entitled "In Harm's Way". Its a great episode and it also features William Windom reprising his role as Decker!
I watched that last month. It was nicely done.

"I'm sorry, the ambassador can't see you right now, he's STILL tied up at the moment....."
"Due to unforseen circustances, the Ambassador will have to reschedule your appointment."

I think the acting and production values from the NewVoyages group improves with every episode. Even though they are based in New York, I believe I read where most of the work is done in California.
You are correct. Some of the work is done is California and some in Upstate NY. I think that the CGI is done in UNY.

Boston Lead Singer's Fiancee Found Him DeadBy KATHARINE WEBSTER, AP
CONCORD, N.H. (March 12) - Brad Delp's fiancee found the rock singer dead at their Atkinson home after calling three times without getting through, police said Monday.
Delp, 55, lead singer for the band Boston, was found dead Friday. His death isn't considered suspicious, but authorities said the state medical examiner's office is investigating.
His fiancee, Pamela Sullivan, stayed out with friends Thursday night but called home Friday morning, Atkinson police Lt. William Baldwin said Monday.
"She had last heard from him the night before ... because she stayed out after work with some colleagues," Baldwin said. "She tried that morning three times to get a hold of him, and could not, so she went home and found (him)."
No autopsy is planned, but toxicology tests are being performed, said Kim Fallon, an investigator for the medical examiner's office.
Baldwin said police hope to finish their investigation and get the toxicology results by the end of the week.
On Monday, there were flowers left at the mailbox and on the front steps of Delp's home.
A private funeral service will be held followed by a public memorial to be scheduled later, according to a statement from family and friends. Donations can be made in Delp's memory to the American Heart Association in Framingham, Mass.
Delp, a native of Danvers, Mass., joined Boston in the mid-1970s and sang on two of the band's biggest hits, "More Than a Feeling" and "Long Time."
He had planned to marry Sullivan this summer during a tour with Boston. Delp, a lifelong Beatles fan, also played with tribute band Beatle Juice.
This is a tragedy for any Classic Rock fans. Boston was a great band.....RIP
Delp was known as "the nicest guy in Rock". While I am not a big fan of Boston, I mourn his loss nonetheless.

Actually, most of the acting I've seen improves admirably by the second episode. (New Voyages took a little longer with the pilot episode and all.) Actually, New Voyages was featured in an Adirondacks magazine. Since I'm a New Yorker, and technical theater major, I'd like to help with an episode or something, but I don't have the assets to get there even if they'd let me.
You're from B-Ville????
I'm originally from Auburn, now living in Seneca County.
Small World.

This episode has always been my favourite of the TOS. It was absolutely spectacular. They didn't mess with the Doomsday Machine itself too much, just more "alive" if I could say. Plus the Constellation looked terrible. What I mean is that it looked absolutely ripped apart, instead of looking like someone took a blowtorch to it. I still think the acting was great in the episode, I'm so glad to have caught it.
The Constellation looked as it should have. Like it got torn apart by something bigger than it. They really did a tremendous job on this episode.

I like the idea of finding out how Starfleet and the Federation began. I still do. I though that if they had Manny Coto from the very beginning, it may still be in production. Manny was too late to save it from an untimely demise.

The only one of the Enterprise Seasons that I really didn't care for was the one where they went through the Expanse. To me, it wasn't as good as it could have been. The fourth season was good and sadly, they never got to expand upon it. I think it ended too soon. And the last episode wasn't fair to the cast. To have Riker and Troi as pretty much the focal points of that finale was a slap in the face to the cast. And they pretty much said so in post-series interviews.

Personally, when George came out, it really didn't make one bit of difference to me. I have always liked George as an actor and as a person. If he wants to poke fun at himself, I don't care. He has to live with what he says and does. Not me.

I was very impressed with the remastering of this episode. The CGI work in it is perfect. Plus, it's one of my personal favorites from the TOS.
I'm looking forward to my all-time favorite, "City on the Edge of Forever" to be re-mastered.

I've been a Trek Fan since TOD first aired back in the 60's.
They say that you always love your first car the best. And that your first girlfriend is always the most memorable. To me, TOS is my first love.
-
I don't own any of the season, but I own all of the movies, both in VHS and the Director's Cut on DVD.
-
This is my "must-see" movie for this coming summer. My kids and I have been to the theaters to see the first two on Opening Night. We'll be there for this one too.
-
Maybe to match his clothes?
Did you check to see what color it is when he's actually in a Starfleet Uniform?
-
Now, if you had put the Battlestar Galatica up against Enterprise-E, then you'd have one terrific battle.
I think that Galatica would win because they have Vipers and Raptors going for them. Enterprise-E doesn't.

Ambassador Recalled Amid Lurid ReportConduct Called 'Unbecoming of a Diplomat'
Reuters
JERUSALEM (March 12) - Israel has recalled its ambassador in El Salvador after he was found drunk and naked with sex toys lying nearby in the yard of his official residence, Israeli media reports said on Monday.
A foreign ministry spokeswoman confirmed that the ambassador, Tsuriel Raphael, was recalled but offered no details. "The ministry sees his behavior as unbecoming of a diplomat," the spokeswoman said.
Israeli media reported that local police found Raphael in the yard of the official residence in San Salvador. The reports said he was drunk, naked, and bound and gagged with a rubber ball in his mouth and sex toys lying near him.
The foreign ministry spokeswoman said the incident took place two weeks ago.
"As soon as the episode was brought to attention of the foreign ministry it reacted and the ambassador was recalled to Israel. He is going to remain in Israel," she said.
Israel would seek another ambassador in El Salvador, an Israeli official said.
:) :)
Note to self: .....If ever elected to office, never appoint Vulcan_Lover as an Ambassador.........
Hey, everyone has a hobby.

But how would you disect a house to make sure that all the cool stuff ends up in your half?
Very carefully, of course.
-
While the acting is pretty cheesy, you have to admit that they (for the most part) do a decent job on their stuff.
When you consider that they're not working with a big budget (as in virtually no money whatsoever), they put out a fairly good product. One of them (New Voyages) is made here in New York State about an hour north of Albany.

I'm disappointed that they killed off Starbuck.
I've requested the broken spoiler tags be addressed but in the meantime, could we at least give warning when spoilers are pending please...
My apologies.

Syracuse is my College Team. They had a poor season and was left out of the NCAA Tourney.
As they should have been. They had no business even being considered this season.

Lets be honest, if she was really dead, then that was a lame death. She'll be back in season 4 in some fashion.
She had her hand on the ejector lever. I think that heavy raider was real and it picked her up.
She'll be back.
As a Cylon! :P
