  1. "shouldn't be changed" Why, you and all the other purists are getting what you wanted right? A true to the original remastering. The true to the original is being done right now, I want an over the top version!

Why can't there be an over the top version for those that want it? Just because the purists say it shouldn't happen? Hogwash. It wont hurt anything.

But, the purists will probably get their way, just like they did for killing off Trek because it wasn't what "they" wanted.. :elephant:

I wouldn't call myself a "purest". If they could re-do it and put it over the top for SFX, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Nobody was madder than me when they cancelled "Enterprise". It was what I wanted. It was "more Trek". The more Trek there is, the happier I am.

  2. I like it and want the eventual uncut DVD release.

Complaints: They made staying so absolutely true to the original scenes so important it's sometimes just as silly as the originals. (examples: missing or un-remastered pics on sensor monitors, that silly way the ship approaches the camera; you know, off kilter etc.)

I'd hold out still for a third remastering, one totally over the top which revamps every second of every scene without regard to what the "purists" think or want.

But don't you think that staying somewhat true to the original helps it to no lose its sense of balance?

Granted, some things are noticeably different, but some things shouldn't be changed. I would absolutely buy the uncut DVD Release.

  3. I see we have the leader of the Walter Koenig Fan Club here with us........... :elephant:

ah... if only Walter Koenig would allow a fan club.....! :elephant:

He won't? I'm sure he would if he thought there was money to be made from it.

  4. As a huge fan of TOS, I have immensely enjoyed the remastered episodes. What's cool about today is that we have CGI to improve upon the classics and, in my opinion, improve them. Some people were angry when Turner bought the old movies and colorized them. Some things are better left as they were. Some things can only get better. TOS has proven the latter.

What are your thoughts on this subject?

  5. In an interview that I saw awhile ago, Nimoy explained that he created the VNP because he couldn't envision Spock throwing a punch or doing a Karate Chop on anyone. So, he went the "less violent" route.

  6. I watched DSV also when it was originally on ( 3 years) as well and I didn't mind the talking Dolphin that much but I watch it on Space The Imagination Station in Canada in reruns (we dont get SCI-FI here) true the first 2 years were slightly better than the third but was still a decent average show.

Agreed. The third season was the death knoll for it, sadly.

  7. I watched the original run of this when Roy Schinder was the Captain. When it left then returned with Michael Ironside as Captain, I lost interest. NBC originally aired it, then it can be seen on occasion in Sci-Fi.

The kid that played the boy genius in it died a few years ago.

This show started off with a great premise, but then came the stupid storylines (talking Dolphin) and it sank like it was torpedoed.

I'd like to read your thoughts on it, if anyone here watched it.

  8. Did I say two weeks, I meant two years. Really though, two weeks would probably be enough for me; there's only so much you can see and do there before it would, despite the killer view, become boring.

Nah. If there's a babe astronaut on board (not one that wears diapers on earth and stalks the competition), that could make staying longer much more fun.::elephant::
