There is an approved list of names?
I believe the Swedish government has approval over the names parent choose for their children. A little odd but it does prevent parents saddling their children with some ridiculous name (see Moon Unit, Apple, Moxy Crimefighter, etc).
Didn't Nicolas Cage name his kid "JorEl" after Superman's Krypton Name?
No, he named him "Kal-El" which is actually Superman's real Kryptonian name.
That's right. Jor-El was his father's name. Thanks for straightening me out on that.

Jolene Blalock (T'Pol) will be in the new movie called Slow Burn, in limited release April 13th.
I remember seeing her in an episode of JAG a few years ago. She played a Marine who got a tattoo that the Corps wasn't happy about.

I think these people killed themselves because they didn't have a reason to live.
But it sounds like they had each other and enough friends to have a party.
Apparently, that wasn't enough for them.

Judgement reserved until release.
Excellent idea.

I was named "Bret" after Bret Maverick, my father's favorite TV Show at the time.
I just thank God that the Flintstones weren't on then.

In about ten years, the kid is gonna care.
Unless the kid becomes a fan or learns how to fight by the time she gets into school.

This thread is dedicated to Star Trek XI before its anticipated Christmas Day, 2008 Release.
Please post comments, thoughts, rumors and alike here.

How about we let this thread die? It was started by Validus to trash the new movie. Lets start a new one simply titled Star Trek XI.
I can do that.

And how many American Sports Junkies name their kids after ESPN?
More than you know.
So, I say let them name their kid after Metallica.
Who cares????

Linda Park (Hoshi Sato from Enterprise) is in "Raines" on NBC as an L.A. Patrol Officer.
-
That looks like one of the ideas for an updated Enterprise in the cancelled Phase II series.
That's what I was thinking.

I've lost many pets over the years. While I loved them more than I love some humans, I'm still never going to kick my own bucket over one of them. When death is near, you try to prepare yourself as best as you can. You convince yourself that it's the humane thing to do when you have them put down. No one, pet or human, should ever have to needlessly suffer.

I think that the gun torrents gave it a BSG look and feel to it. If they're going to give it a newer look, CGI will come up with a sleeker look than this drawing does. I wish there were more drawings to go with this one.
I would be interested to see them.

Star Trek XI is not going to be independent, it is going to be in line with established canon for the most part. There be some aesthetic changes just that it doesn't look too out of date.
I don't care what they do to it. I will still be first in line to see it on Opening Day.

Well I have been to that particular Hooters many, many times. However, there is another one opening in less than a month that is half the distance away and they are building another one right across the street from my apartment.
I'm am soooooooooo jealous.

Took long enough.
Godspeed, Jimmy.

I would much prefer to have the Tumbler from Batman Begins, but Dublin, CA is less than an hour away from me (and they have a Hooters too) so I might just go take a look at it.
Id go just for the Hooters'.
That alone is worth the trip.

She's getting culture.
That's all that counts.

Sad and bizarre all in one.

I think what I like most about the remastered TOS Episodes is the fact that they're drawing new fans to the genre. There are people watching now that didn't before and some wouldn't have watched it for anything.
The Fan Base is growing and it continuing to grow.
Which is a very good thing.

Congratulations, Odo.
I just eclipsed my 5000 post at nyyankeefans.com this weekend.
So, I know how hard it is to post that much.

Interesting. But only if they're a non-profit type of organization, right? Wouldn't they have to be in order to accept donations?
They CAN NOT take monetary donations as accepting money of any kind violates their agreement with CBS/Paramount--which outlines their use of the Star Trek francise in an amateur not-for-profit production. They do take gift cards from Home Depot and like places, as well as donations of items for the sets and filming. They have a wish list on their site. They don't send out dvd copies except as acknowlegement to people who donate. Distrubution of dvds violates their agreement. They also can not charge people to see their films at conventions or other venues.
The first episode, In Harm's Way is available from their mirror sites in dvd file format. TSAMD is not yet, and they have promised a special edition, with vintage commercials and a surprise, when they release the dvd formatted files. They prefer you wait for the official dvd version to be released on their site before making a dvd.
However, if you can't wait you can visit their forums there are many good discussions on how to convert the files to a format which will burn on a dvd. Then you miss out on the special edition with the surprise!
Thank you for the clarification.

I can see something like this as a middle name, but maybe the first name should be something a little more traditional. (IMO)
