  1. I HEAR THAT! - from experience, too - remember something i came to know very well about the crew at STF.net: you are always home, no matter how long you've been on an 'away' - books away, mate!!!

  2. in point of fact, the 'weakest' series was TOS - it only lasted three years, and its legacy, and the truth of Trek's message, only became apparent after the series went off the air...

    thank goodness for hindsight...

as for VOY, i think it blended the best of everything Trek has come to mean - forward thinking, equitable, and engaging, i think the crown in the jewel of Trek series will forever be...

now, speaking of weakest captain - oh, yes, ENT is another topic... ;)

  3. yes, in 'Endgame' (i remembered the episode title!!!), the doctor had given himself the name 'joe' - a man after my own heart...

didn't worf's girlfriend also play dr. selar, crusher's counterpart? - i think she played an Andorian 'bad-guy' on ENT, too - not saying my sister is beautiful, just don't wanna find out if she gets angry like Klingon, either... ;)

  4. ;) alright, alright - i've a confession myself - i've always thought, minus some 'frown lines', that B'elanna bears a STRIKING resemblance to my younger sister - in fact, the resemblance is a little creepy - now, not Roxanne Dawson, 'cause i've checked our favourite Klingon actress sans make-up - nope - my sister looks like a Klingon - please, gawd, don't let her EVER see this... ;)

  5. HONESTY - i think honesty can lead to any and every other virtue, for whose heart isn't led to kindness, empathy, and charity when one doesn't lie to one's self? Honesty - can be the hardest thing to think of doing, but once you start, you never look back...

and, yes - even 'bout that nickel at the corner store... :waaaa:

  6. hear-hear! - i had almost forgotten their little positronic love - i agree with the exploration; in Trek fashion, seven's personal discovery would've lent an ear to the journey we're all on - seven always reminded me of goldilocks, in a weird way - trapped by the bears, she one day got out...sans porridge, of course...

  7. MUST agree with the seven and chakotay thing - come ON - unless, of course, janeway has mosied on in to crusher territory...

wonder what an earl grey and black coffee smoothie'd be like, 'nywways... :waaaa:

  8. i have to agree with VBG 'bout the first three seasons - though i'm partial to VOY, and would deny this in public, i could not STAND kes (the character...blech!!!) - woe is kes, poor little kes, would someone pick her-big -floppy-ears-off-the -floor kes :waaaa: VS B) ENTER seven-of-nine to shore up the storyline, and thank goodness - shoulda been seven from the beginning, eh? - 'nways, as we know, it always takes a few season's to get a show going - on that note, i hope 'current events' get the same shot every other ST series has...

  9. i really like your idea, vash - janeway and her crew have more tactical and practical experience dealing with borg than the rest of starfleet combined, and seven knows more intrinsically than poor, poor picard - what about borg technology run rampant, without the biological aspect? - the machine components picking up the pieces (ha!) and sorta makin' something out of its selves, ya know? - i mean (AHEM), that is what paramount used to bring the 'dead' TOS back, n'est-ce pas? - a big ol' machine run amok...

Voyager is no more dead than kirk is ( :nono: ), and the day i see Enterprise as a movie (who's ratings are so bad they need a petition? hunh? hunh?!?) is the day i see donald duck in space dock... :waaaa:

as for any OTHER series making it to the big screen, may i remind all who had a cameo in the last ST movie installment? - wouldn't have ANYTHING to do with fan base, recognition factor, or relevance, hunh?

 nice, one , vash - really nice B)

  10. i've said it before and i'll say it again - gotalove gotabite - WELL SAID - i agree wholeheartedly 'bout DS9, cannot stand monsieur bakula in the driver's seat of E (quantum leap dregs...:nono:), and had my TNG heart stolen by Voyager - i truly feel V encompassed everything ST has come to mean, 'bout diversity, perserverence, and fortitude - in true Trek fashion, the issues of today came alive - the First Nations and feminine authority figures on the bridge, a real tribute to equity...

i also feel V went where no other ST series has gone before in other ways - computer graphic aliens, instead of trademark humans in make-up, storylines that had a familial feel to them (NOT soap-operatic...ahem), and some of the best television special effects ever seen - not knocking 'current events' (oh, yes i am), but didn't a certain alien race round table remind anyone of Star Wars?..:waaaa:

i miss Voyager B) - i miss it a lot - i ask the tooth-fairy every night for a movie run  for my favourite (CAN spelling...) crew, and i think if i wish hard enough, one day it'll come true...

bon chance, Voyager - hope to see you all soon...

uhm, who do i think is reading this, anyways? B)

  11. here i am not even knowing the NAME of the episode :yahoo: - my fav was when Janeway had to address three young crew members, who, if VOY had been in FED space, would have been sent back to the academy - Janeway took 'em on AWAY to try an' bone 'em up...

i liked the episode because it showed the best of Janeway's character - she did her best to leave no one out, but wasn't afraid to be tough on someone who needed it - the episode showed that the show's production was aware that WE the viewer were aware of more n'just seven (ahem) crew members, AND there were some amazing camera angles/receding shots/decks of the ship we hadn't seen before...

this episode came late in the series, and i have found that the storylines tend to improve as the actors and producers get comfy...

  12. RE: TSUNAMI -- the CBC has an EXCELLENT interactive map that shows country by country news-feeds, slides, and there's a globe-view of what actually happened - it's the best info i've found, thought i'd share...

just hit the link, then scroll down - on the right side list, click 'interactive map' under "INTERACTIVES" - the wavefront can be seen by clicking the comp-graphic map in the top left corner - LOTS of other info...

uhm, should add it requires flash, and for some, sound...

  13. i really liked Dr. P., and although i'll always have a soft spot for Bev, thought P. could'a worked her way outta her own warp-bubble WAY fastah!!! :yahoo: - i was (please don't huwt me) sorry to see Bev return...guess the movie gig (hunt for red october...) dinna work out...

  14. i think to each her own - i mean, i've seen things that i'm flabbergasted over, but i also remeber a time in my life when STF were all the friends i had - it's a function of our individualistic society that we sometimes have no one to turn to...

there've been complaints about a popular advice columnist up here (CAN) in NOW magazine, that he's too frank and uneducated - i myself have always found lay people to be much better at advice, and sent off an e-mail to his detractors telling them NOT TO READ IT if they don't like it...

think of it this way, as well - the person asking for advice already thinks you're good enough to give it - if the 'you're' happens to be a message board, so be it...

that being said, i'd really have to draw the line at personal stories about poop... :theforce:

  15. on my way in to campus, i saw two (TWO!!!) beautiful things:

first, i found a photograph on the sidewalk - i turned it over to find an extended family gathered together around the foot of some stairs - 'twas the neatest thing, 'cause every single race was represented in the photo - Black, White, Asian, Muslim - i mean EVERYONE - it was heartening to see, for sure - guess the melting pot is working, and thank gawd, 'cause i need a tan...

second, i was snoozing on the subway, and as my stop came up, i looked up and saw: this guy, who had on a sleeveless shirt and shorts (like me) and THEN i noticed the tatoo on his left arm, which was the Federation insignia - i SWEAR - i thought it was so NEAT, so brave (braver than my tats), and the only thing i was stupid about was NOT running over to tell him how cool it was...

i want a star trek tatoo, too!!!
