  1. i get a lot o' flak for picking up 'out of country' slang, like "g'day & mate" (aussie), "cheers" (uk), "y'all"(texas), and the biggest, "bloody hell" (uk a'gin) - and those're just the ones in english! ... others, like "tabernac" and "k'is'amaq" (french and arabic?), people just let go 'cause i'm me, and they don't know what the h**l i'm sayin' - 'tis opportunistic, that's all - here in tronno, CAN, there's just everybody, and everybody's trading words - oh yeah, i almost forgot "hung-mao"...'tis mandarin for "big noses" :)

  2. what is it with people who're being served? like, get off the soap box, mate...

i have to agree with DD - CSRing on the phone is the pits, 'cause customers think an earpiece an' mic are free-reign on rudeness...

got to one up ya, though - try 'tele-marketing' - i spent three days one summer, doing my best to pretend my name was 'lorn' and that magazine bundles were the way to go - after two days of being told to F-O, by various anonymous 'cold-calls', i started responding in kind - little did i know the manager had a mic in the call room - when he took me to task, on the third day, i promptly told him to F-O, as well, and walked out...

and they say a big mouth gets you nowhere... :)

  3. here's no name again - oh well, maybe the santa fairy will hear my call (DVDs - DVDs!!!) - my favourite Tom and B'Elanna episode opens with B'Elanna taking a 'flying leap' on the holodeck, and pushing herself WAYYY over, because she's havin' trouble 'relating' - i was impressed with a storyline that connected Seven and B'Elanna, as friends ... oh, wait a minute - wrong show - oh, YAH! - it was the one (the one? gawd...) where Tom was flying in that sector race Voyager came upon, and B'Elanna and he had been planning some trip,

and THEN Seven, unbeknowing, gave B'Elanna some relationship advice, and B'ELanna looked at Seven in a whole new light - and flew in the race with Tom - okay, I may be out of re-runs, and pre DVDs, but i think you'll catch my drift - just like B'Elanna caught Seven's - i thought it was really cool that they started gettin' along, ya know??? (hiccup...)

  4. uhm, my buddy says the doctor played a 'doctor' on the old series 'china beach' - anyone know if this is true? - i agree with the character's potential, and thought that in a lot of cases, the series did maximaize on such, for instance all the aways where the doctor was the only hope, and the interface with the photonic beings during that war on the holodecks...

me thinks me needs to do the "VBG et al." and start collecting the series on DVD - not only am i missing V for the lack of re-runner channels, but i'm so cloudy on episode names it's embarrassing...

    VOYAGER, we luv you!!! B)

  5. a couple of years back, here in toronto, we had the worst winter storm in nigh on fifty years - 'twas so bad, we had almost a metre'n'half ('bout five feet or so?) of snow EVERYWHERE - the city was gridlocked for days...

being one of the southernmost cities in canada, and outside of the snowbelt, we were laughed at by folks in montreal and winnipeg, yellowknife fersure, when the mayor called the army in to help us out - but to be here (and come on, eh? we've seen snow...), 'twas a disaster - hydro lines down, transit immovable - hospitals couldn't bring in the sick, ya know?

i see points on both sides, but the way i figure it is this - if someone says they're in trouble, you help first and ask questions (lay blame) later...

  6. once, i was at the movies with my girlfriend (a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...) and my best friend; i think we were seeing Harley Davidson and the Malboro Man - well, the movie was terrible, my best friend was flirting with my girlfriend, and i was peeved - so i went to the bathroom to have a smoke...

whilst there, i noticed the utility closet was open, so ilooked inside - toilet paper and garbage bags, WOW - i inadvertantly (on purpose? hmm...) flicked my butt (cigarette, that is...) into a large box of 'charmin' - the smoke started, and i ran...

well, back in the cinema, the lovebirds were still on course, but the movie wasn't - the theatre started to fill with smoke, and an announcement came over the speakers, informing that there was a 'small' fire, and the cinema ws being evacuated...

did i ever sweat, but out of nearly 600 patrons, who woulda known it was my faux pas - i got my money back, got the girl back (who knew?), and never got caught...

    BTW, the cinema was fine...

sheesh, that looks a lot worse on screen than i remember...

  7. thank you, capt P - too often, people forget what the word 'discussion' means - if you hadn't brought this up, i wouldn't have known about the unseemly legacy the King family is producing, i wouldn't have learned that DNA tests are only conclusive (pour le lineage) with a male descendant, and i wouldn't have had the pleasure of hearing Martin Luther King and John Kennedy referred to as contemporaries...

i learn so much from you all - one should never discredit themselves for their

opinion, or for a topic one feels is meritable - only through differences can change be procured...

    oooh, wasn't that verbose...

thank you for having the nerve to post on a sensitive issue...

any wonder why STF is the best website in NA?

  8. i was a hairstylist, and a durn good one, too, until an impromptu dive off a speaker in a disco...

one new right wrist later, i am in my second year of undergrad studies (pre-law, mmm, constitution...) - i major in Aboriginal Studies, and minor in Sociology and French as a Second Language...

may i just say that i LUV butt-savers?

  9. oh dear - i MEANT to say 'not saying my sister ISN'T beautiful' - durn double negatives - not quite like Stan's sis, but i am now SERIOUSLY dead if she ever sees this...

did i mention she's got the temper of a klingon?..i am so toast... :giljotiini:

  10. first, i wanna say PUH-leese don't change your screen names - not only some of your posts, i think 'unadopted angelic' and 'lieutenant JG' are COOL - 'sides, 'ts how you're known, ya know? my opine, 'sall...

as for 'joeybear', does anyone remember garfield's little teddy, 'pooki-bear'? - well, a lady i once baked with (be QUIET KlingonMike, it was a bakery ;) ) laughingly coined me her 'joeybear', many, MANY moons ago - my littlest brother and his friends overheard, and the name STUCK - when i was a newbie, just a few moons ago (like, when AlterEgo and VBA had to tell what 'cookies' were... :blush 2:), it was the first thing that came to mind...
