  1. Your guess sounds about right. I'm sure it's going to be the highest-grossing ST film in history...and if it does make $70 million in the opening weekend (2.3 times as much as the current record for an ST opening weekend) then there's really no way around it reaching the top slot for overall gross. :P

Keep tabs on it versus all 10 other Star Trek flicks here:

*** I should add the fact that the average opening weekend gross is just under $19 million for the first ten movies.

  2. I liked it. I'm still processing it and everything, but I liked it.

The different direction they went with it was...interesting. We'll see

I also had to sit in the second row of the IMAX, so I had a major kink in my neck at the end. This weekend I'm going to go see it in the middle of a normal theater to see.

  3. LAKELAND, Fla., April 28 (UPI) -- A Polk County, Fla., deputy with 21 years service resigned after his wife, a convicted felon, took his patrol car for a spin, sheriff's officials said.

Deputy Charles Buckner, 44, turned in his badge after his wife, Gail Buckner, 38, allegedly used the car for a joy ride in Lakeland with her mother, Sharon Cooper, 54, and a friend, Alexander James Quintasket, 19, also a convicted a felon, The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Tuesday.

The two women were charged with vehicle theft, theft of a firearm and impersonating a law-enforcement officer, arrest documents said. Gail Buckner also faces charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Quintasket was arrested on similar charges.

The three were arrested Sunday after another sheriff's deputy spotted the patrol car driving erratically and followed it to the Buckner home, the Sentinel reported, adding no information was immediately available on Gail Buckner and Quintasket's convictions.

Thought a deeper look was worthwhile. As a cop why did he stick it out with a convicted felon. Doesn't that call into question his police record somehow???

Whoa wait...so they had a friend with them that was 19, his wife is 38, and his mother-in-law's 54? I'm not going to judge them on the fact that her mother's only 16 years older than she is, but it looks like there IS quite a bit of history and story to at least the two women.

(By the way, my fiancee's mother is only 17 years older than she is, and my fiancee was conceived when her mother was 16...so I'm not saying it makes you a bad person to be in that predicament.)

  4. So, wash your hands a lot, don't shake hands, be careful who you kiss and take care of your self.

Being careful who you kiss can lead to "taking care of yourself" more often - and then you definitely need to wash your hands before shaking hands. ;)

I never heard of this WWI-era outbreak, but it sounds even worse than the Black Plague which everyone has heard about. Why is that?

On a more serious note, thanks for the advice! I've been keeping an eye out.

  5. I heard (quite loudly) within my mind something like the sound of one of those electric 'synthesizers' from the 1920's glissing (or sliding) up and down with the rhythm (I say synthesizer for lack of a better word...I'm talking bout the gadget that makes the spooky sound in old movies or the like...triggered by bringing your hands closer to it and further from it).

  6. The first episode to air after I was born was "The Icarus Factor" from TNG. It's the one where Riker and father square off. I was only 6 days old so I may not have seen it, and even if I didn't see any of the last nine episodes at the end of the second season (starting with this one) I most certainly saw everything starting with the third season of TNG.

  7. Survivor is probably the best of the reality show lot. I've watched 3 or 4 of the seasons on a regular basis, completely missed a few seasons and caught a few episodes of the some other seasons.

It's the only one I watch. Of course it's the first of the Reality shows, everything else copied it.

Actually most people credit COPS to be the first reality TV show of the genre as we know it today (although it technically dates back much further than that).

I could agree with that, I don't really put the 2 in the same category though. COPS is a real reality show. It's real life. Survivor, Big Brother, Gone Country and shows like that are game shows. So in the overall genre of "reality" shows, COPS is the first. But in the sub-genre of Game Shows Survivor would be the first there.

Edit: Nevermind...I've disproven myself. (I know disproven's not a word)

  9. 1/2 Orion

    1/2 Human

    :D

You're gonna give all the women headaches and turn the men into apes...unless they've mated with a Vulcan woman. It might get annoying being an Orion female. :stars:

I say half-human, half-Vulcan at the moment, but I might normally say half-human, half-Q.

(anyone else notice how I capitalized Vulcan and Q, but not human? I didn't realize until afterwards... :dude: )
