Darn it, I posted the thing, and forgot it! Oh well...'absolute scum', hm....yes, after having seen him play such a warm, nice person like Phlox....but for him, at least, I imagine he enjoyed the range....

I'm guessing a minor role as a child molestor in one of the superflous crime dramas is probably more about paying the mortgage than professional development. There are many more actors than there are good roles.

  2. YBHYR - Something like the actual value of something is what you're willing to give up to have it.

Indeed, what makes us happy (ie brings pleasure) is very subjective.

The sad thing is we must do so much in life that takes away points - my job certainly does.

Workng in my garden (a few pots on my patio) really makes me happy.

  3. I read a story once of a woman who was so distraught after learning her husband was having an affair she threw herself off a balcony to commit suicide.

She survived the fall but the poor person she landed on didn't.

Did I mention the guy she landed on was the husband?

On a more serious note, if you're going to commit suicide - see that you do it in a way that no one else gets hurt. Poor kid - first of all he's a teenager so you know his classmates will be merciless with the razzing - but having a dead (or soon to be dead) person fall on you has to be disturbing.

  4. This was a few weeks back but did anyone catch Brent Spiner & Armin Shimerman on Leverage (in an ep directed by Jonathan Frakes) - Leverage is a great show btw.

Connor Trinneer was on an ep of 24 and of Terminator; SCC (I don't know when these things actually aired because I watch tv online)

Robert Picardo has a scheduled appearance in an upcoming ep of "Castle" - Nathan Fillion fans take note - this is a great role for him.

  5. that is good news - I do watch the show but liked it better when I thought it was just a team to explore unusual scientific phenomena - this whole "everything is part of some larger secret conspiracy" theme gets old.

I like Torv's portrayal of Olivia though

  6. While I do believe there is or has been or will be other intelligent life in the universe - that doesn't translate into earthly visitations. The universe is vast (and that is an understatement).

There is no actual evidence of an alien visitation - even less an abduction. The alien abduction story - paralysis, something in the room etc is identical to other legends which have been around for thousands of years which are usually atttributed to a very real phenomena called "sleep paralysis." The identity of the something in the room has changed from evil spirits or witches to aliens to keep up with the times. And it has been aided by the entertainment industry.

I read (or partly read) a rather interesting book about the Blue Book project and investigation into UFO sightings - it was rather technical in parts but the parts I could read were interesting. If there really were visitations - I can't help but believe there would be some physical evidence - charred grass, or broken trees or unexplained materials. I don't doubt people have seen things they don't understand and a military involvement only fuels the flame but still it is open to speculation and no actual evidence.

That is not to say I wouldn't like to know what really happened at Roswell,NM or Kecksburg PA etc

  7. Netflix definitely has a better selection of movies than Blockbuster (including Blockbuster online) - I've been able to get movies I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to get.

And another thing, you can put your account on hold for a while and pick back up as long as it's less than 90 days; this is great if you're going to be vacationing or too busy to watch movies for a few weeks.

I hadn't thought of rewatching ST through Netflix - I'm going to add VOY to my queue right now.

  8. They got off the bus.

    From the Rocky Mountain News.

He may have saved three lives, but RTD bus driver Jim Moffett got a jaywalking ticket anyway, along with broken bones.

Moffett, 58, was driving an RTD bus south on Federal Boulevard at 62nd Avenue at 9 p.m. Friday, the State Patrol said.

Two elderly women exited the bus and tried to walk across Federal to their trailer home on the east side, Moffett's stepson Ken McDonald said Tuesday.

"With that light snowstorm, my stepdad didn't think they could cross the street safely," McDonald said. "So he got off the bus with another passenger, and they helped the ladies cross."

The four people had made it about halfway across Federal, and most of the northbound traffic had slowed to let them go the rest of the way, McDonald said.

"But one pickup driver got impatient and passed in the left- hand turn lane," McDonald said. "He plowed right into my stepdad - but not before (my stepdad) pushed the old ladies and the other guy out of the way."

Moffett is at St. Anthony Central Medical Center with bleeding in the brain, broken bones in his face, a dislocated shoulder, a broken wrist and possible ruptured spleen and liver.

Eddie Moore, the passenger who helped Moffett assist the women, also was cited for jaywalking. The pickup driver, Steven C. David, was cited for careless driving causing injury.

The jaywalking citation should be dismissed and crosswalks should be installed, McDonald said. Ryan Sullivan, of the State Patrol, said that while Moffett's "intentions were good," jaywalking caused the accident.
