I'm sure, VBG. The services, past the rivalries, are pretty tight. No matter the uniform, it's the same flag they all salute.
-
Mrs. Picard had a good point. What we've seen of the -E is in the movies. if there was a series based on the -E, we'd see alot more.
-
The rivalry shows...VBG's comment shows why it is that Army-Navy is the biggest rivalry in history. Since my brother is a Marine, and my husband and brother in law are Navy, I must say it..
GO NAVY!

You had to watch the game, VBG. His stats might not be the greatest, but he was still leading that team. With Favre under center, the Packers haven't been blown out (This game was much closer than the 19-7 score indicates). If Favre is sat for the rest of the season, that would be saying "Well, we're 2-10, screw it. Who cares if we win any more?"NOT the message you want to send to fans.

Okay, it's December 1st. In Chicago, as expected, there is snow on the ground. This is the first time, though, I've seen appreciable accumulation (If there was any last week, I missed it. I was out of town). Monday, though, it was in the 50's or 60's.
Let's move to the tropics: Epsilon. TS Epsilon is moving around the Atlantic. It is moving north and east, so for you snowbirds, It will miss the caribean.
as far as Tropical Storms and Hurricanes, this year set the record. And it's still expanding.
Across the midwest, November was much warmer than it normally is. For the first couple of weeks, Jackets were an option. During the last few weeks, a windbreaker worked most days. What the hell is going on with the weather?

I was talking with a buddy today about first dates, and he had some interesting stories. The only one I have though that is interesting is my first date (And follow-up the next day) with Krissy...
It was way back in the time of 7th grade. I asked her if she would like to go ice skating at the ice rink on Friday night for the Friday Nigh DJ Skate. She said yes. Why, I'll never know, she won't say. But it was obvious that we liked each other. Anyways, it turned out that it wasn't the two of us by ourselves I had been hoping for. several of her friends were there, with a camera. Towards the end of the night, pictures were being taken rather liberally, and one of Krissy's friends asked me to pose with Krissy. Since it was, Technically a date, she decided to take a commemorative picture. I have always been an opportunistic son of a biscuit, and that night was no different. as her friend snapped the picture, I struck the first shot in what would, thankfully, turn out to be a long relationship. I landed a big kiss right on her cheek. I don't think even roses turn as red as she did.
The next day, I walked her home from school, and we sat on her porch talking for about an hour. somehow, she ended up in my lap, and she asked me finally. "What did you mean by that kiss?" Well, Mr. Opportunity-Taker wasn't going to let a second shot slip away. All I said was "This". I placed my hand gently on her cheek and kissed her. I thought for sure I was a dead man. Especially since not 2 seconds later, her older brother (Known to all here as Hardcharginsarge) arrived home from football practice. but, as Mr. Bugs Bunny might say, "It's the beginning of a beautiful Friendship". Now, after...geeze, has it been 8 years? Krissy and I are no longer middle-school Boyfriend/Girlfriend, we're married and have kids. A funny and rather odd way to start a pretty good relationship.
That surprised the freeking hell out of me when you did that!
You almost were. I almost strangled you.
This is also my funniest first date story, just so ya know.

Her said don't call him Shirley, and yes, it is a joke....Though if you want to use amputation as punishment, just remove the whole hand, from the wrist down. if the offender repeats, take off the other hand. That should solve the problem.

I'm glad they didn't play the race card at all.. To me, race is not an important issue, if they can do the job well, then they should be elected. However, I do think an African-American or woman president is right around the corner.
How about an African-American Woman as the President? Can you say "President Condeleeza Rice"?
It's good to see that the race card wasn't played, for once. It seems in politics that it gets played way too often these days. Was the election a clean election as far as the rhetoric? New Jersey and Virginia appearently had very nasty governor's races.

I'm guessing the Deerfield to which is refered would be Deerfield, Illinois? If so, I'm sorry to say, but Mr. Vanoer won't be getting much of a warm reception from the locals back home. Most of the folks in the Deerfield/Highland Park area are stuck in the Vietnam Mentality, where the war and those who participate in it are evil, unless you're dead, then you are important.

I'm a small town kinda girl. 25,000 is almost too much for me...

Larry the Cable Guy answered that one. The sound makes people laugh because it is an unusual sound...and the smell? That's Nature's equal opportunity at work. The smell is so that deaf people can also enjoy a good belly laugh.
I picked It's a pun.

My oldest are in 2nd Grade this year, definately NOT old enough to be on the 'net. Hopefully, when they do get old enough, there will be more protective software out there...And I also plan on forbidding them from going into chatrooms. I know the Star Trek Chats can generally be safer, but when I first went into the Startrek.com chats back when I was like 13, Some old guy tried to hit on me...ugg...

Perhaps, with Veterans' Day this friday, I should look into this story more, and post what I've found?

I actually heard about this on the History Channel, then went and found the Citation, but you do bring up a good point.

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, March 3, 1863, has awarded in the name of Congress the Medal of Honor toSergeant First Class Paul R. Smith
United States Army
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty:
Sergeant First Class Paul R. Smith distinguished himself by acts of gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty in action with an armed enemy near Baghdad International Airport, Baghdad, Iraq on 4 April 2003. On that day, Sergeant First Class Smith was engaged in the construction of a prisoner of war holding area when his Task Force was violently attacked by a company-sized enemy force. Realizing the vulnerability of over 100 fellow soldiers, Sergeant First Class Smith quickly organized a hasty defense consisting of two platoons of soldiers, one Bradley Fighting Vehicle and three armored personnel carriers. As the fight developed, Sergeant First Class Smith braved hostile enemy fire to personally engage the enemy with hand grenades and anti-tank weapons, and organized the evacuation of three wounded soldiers from an armored personnel carrier struck by a rocket propelled grenade and a 60mm mortar round. Fearing the enemy would overrun their defenses, Sergeant First Class Smith moved under withering enemy fire to man a .50 caliber machine gun mounted on a damaged armored personnel carrier. In total disregard for his own life, he maintained his exposed position in order to engage the attacking enemy force. During this action, he was mortally wounded. His courageous actions helped defeat the enemy attack, and resulted in as many as 50 enemy soldiers killed, while allowing the safe withdrawal of numerous wounded soldiers. Sergeant First Class Smith’s extraordinary heroism and uncommon valor are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the Third Infantry Division “Rock of the Marne,” and the United States Army.
Nowe maybe I just didn't pay attention two and a half years ago, but I do not recall any mention in the media about any soldiers during the War On Terrorism being awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. For those who don't know, the Congressional Medal of Honor is the HIGHEST medal that can be awarded to a member of the Military, and thus it should recieve attention.

I noticed down at the bottom of the forums list that there is a slot for "Today's Anniversaries", Is that for Anniversaries of members joining? or is it for stuff like Wedding Anniversaries?

Drew Rosenhouse is worse, I think, than TO. Why? because he encourages the arrogance that players like TO are known for. Hell, when the saved that kid from drowning, ya know what he said? He said "The amazing thing was that I put my cell phone down. I never do that". Great guy, huh?

ProBoards and VBulletin have something like that. I think VBulletin calls it "Karma", where you can Praise someone, or denounce them, or something like that. It's pretty interesting. I'd like to see what my Rep is around here...

Good point. I know alot of people who could get it done quietly, and without anyone knowing whodunnit.

Chataeya, I'd have shot him, but that's just me. I say, Hey, let these guys capture the criminals. If ya can lock 'em up until the Police arrive, great. If not, get the plates on their vehicle, and call the cops. Just don't do anything to endanger yourself or that might be construed as a criminal offense.

Yeah, there's been some trash talkin' concerning the Army-Navy game. How bout that Bears/Packers game? 19-7 doesn't really show how well fought that battle was. It was very close right up to the end.
