  1. Eh, I don't watch horror movies.  I just don't see the point in watching a movie where some bad guy runs arround with a knife or whatever and kills everyone for 2 hours, only to be predictably killed by the dumb blonde or the guy everyone thought was killed or whatever.

I disagree. Some times the girl is brunnette.

  2.

I just bought Groom Lake, the Full moon film directed by William Shatner, and I have to say...as much as I like William Shatner the actor, author and some times director...I really didn't like the movie.  Maybe because it was done by Full Moon so the film had an extreme low budget production value (althought I did enjoy a number of films that FM has done in the past "Puppet Master," "Dollman vs Demonic Toys", "Oblivion", etc..)  But Groom Lake was really a bad movie.  In some ways I see it as the "Plan Nine from Outer Space"  of the 21st century (I liked Plan Nine better .)  Of course I don't mean to knock William Shatner as a director.   I'm sure with the right production value he can make a supremely cool film.  But like in Star Trek V, other factors seem to get in the way for him to produce a great piece of work.  That's my opinion what does everyone else think?

btw: I also bought a copy of "Free Enterprise" and thought it was excellent.

Aw,man, don't go knockin Full Moon! That's my favorite film company, brother!

I think Groom Lake's problems were just Shatner.Every film he directs seems to be a dud... :borg2:

And the man can't sing...I'm sorry Germany, yall just have a bizarre musical taste....

Shatner's crooning makes my fillin's hurt...i'd get a toothache whenever his priceline.com commercials used to come on ;)

On the contrary, I enjoy a lot of Full Moon films, I'm also a big fan of Troma films and a number of low budget horror and sci fi films that don't make it to the big screen (in a number of cases I enjoy low budget more than big studio budget films.) I think Shatner was trying to make a Contact meets Close Encounters film with too small of a budget. I think with a budget like full moon pictures you need to be more creative behind the camera and not rely too much on the special effects. Perhaps if Groom Lake didn't involve a military installation, it could have pulled something off from it's low production value (the place was littered with apple computers...you could say that they doubled for the editing equipment and set design.) Films like Doll Man vs Demonic Toys, Puppet Master, Oblivion, Rag Doll, Trancers, Bad Channels, Def by Temptation, Toxic Avenger, Slashers, Dog Soldiers and so on make the most with their low budget but do it in such a way where their movies look extremely good. I think the best example of this is of course the original Evil Dead. It was made with a bunch of inexperienced actors, and on a very shoe string budget. But the film managed to be the pull off some great scraes and became a cult classic. So I wasn't really knockin on Full Moon (although they really shouldn've took a better look at the script before they helped produce it), but Shatner's execution while using a Full Moon budget. I think Full Moon rocks! I use to love watching the Full Moon video zone when I was a teen. Damn I've been rambling haven't I?

  3. Ok, here you go. I cur the left half of Mars off and turned it on it's side to make it look like it's the top of the planet. The real top had the polar ice cap and I thought it would look better if the planet was more red with less white in it.

THese are great, but this one in particular at first I thought it was the top of Picard's head for some reason....speaking of which I was wondering if you could pull that one off?

  4. Voted for Carter because I wanted to throw a bone to him. Plus I did enjoy the X-files, and two other shows I really liked (Lone Gunmen and Millenium.) It was ashame to see those two go off the air. Harsh Realms was alright, but I didn't see the appeal of the film. Also he was a big fan of Kolchak the Night Stalker (which he admited was a major influence to Xfiles) and even casted Darren Mcgavin in a guest role (but not as Carl Kolchak.)

Rod Serling was a genius writer/creator, it's too bad some of his other projects didn't pan out as well as night gallery and Twlight Zone. Also at one time I saw him as a game show host which wasn't a big thrill for me.

Gene did a great job with Star Trek, but I didn't vote for him because I never caught any of his other TV productions (The Lieutenant, Questar Tapes if it was produced, or New Genesis.)

  5. I liked the DC but something I wish they changed was the circling of the enterprise in dry dock scene. I always thought that scene went on too long even though Robert Wise said that it was needed to make vger look huge. Still everytime I look at that scene I think of that mad magazine parody:

    Kirk: Amazing

Scotty: The modification to the ship?

Kirk: No the fact that we've been circling this thing for an hour and haven't found the blasted door.

Other then that i thought it was excellent. Especially when they actually show vger flying in space.

  6. Nemesis was really a great episode. At first I thought it was kind of cheesy in the begining when they were introducing these aliens that used terms like foot falls, etc... But I started to really get into it after Chakotay starts to feel for the side he was fighting with. Also it had a great ending when the merciless enemy turns out to be the one who help save him in the end. IT was a very different episode with very interesting conflicts.

  7. I like the story and the possibility of being many different races (romulans, borg, federation etc.)

However the handling sucks, and it's just too slow, to turn a federation ship takes half an hour.

I think I've developed a way to turn a little better with Federation ships. When you're going full speed and make a turn try slowing down your spped and you'll close your turn a little better. I also tried doing the opposite; start slow, turn and then increase speed. It's kind of like driving a; car slowing down for a turn or starting slow to make a faster turn. It works for me, try it and see if I'm right or just drunk. Also increasing the game speed to 11 helps too.

  8. All the cool kids took German....which doesn't exactly explain why I took it. On a side note I took korean language classes on the weekends thanks to my ever so benevolent parents (they wanted me to learn about our culture more.) Unfortunetly the school was run by very inexperienced teachers (most were just parents helping out) and not much got done.

  9. Loved the original bridge. The colors were great. Also loved the ent-d bridge had a very comfortable feeling. When I went to the experience and stood in their replica I felt like I was at home.

  10. I was just wondering if its true that you can play as the romulans in romulan warbird.

    :assimilated:

It's true, you can also download a mission that involves the Scimitar.

I just got the game too and although I do agree with everyone on the control handling side of the game I think it was a vast improvement from SFC I and II. Has anyone done the multiplayer campaign? What's that like?

  11. I have an older friend who absolutely hates the SE because for the same reason that many have. They like the original theatrical release they saw and blew their minds in 1977. I didn't get a chance to watch that version. The one I saw was the same movie, but it was on a small 6 inch screen except this time it had commercials. The other time I saw it was on vhs with loads of tracking problems. When the SE came out it was my opportunity to watch star wars on the big screen. And I do have a couple of nitpicks and pans (Greedo shooting first...blech.) But in addition I loved most of the additions (Jabba the Hutt and Solo walking on his tail.) So to me it wasn't a rehashing of old material but a second chance for a once in a life experience.

  12. Stardate:213633.2

I was right Jason WON!!!When it was all said and done.Jason walked away with Freddy's head in his hand.

    Yeah but....

Freddy's head winked at the audience and then he laughed at the end. I don't think it was a clear cut (excuse the pun) victory. Also we might be treated to Freddy Vs Jason II in the near future. By the way I liked this film, it was fun and retro....my friends and I also noted the many women who had implants through the entire film.

  13. Occasionally I'll watch wrestling, but I don't keep up with it like I use to. I watch tng and if they're showing an old James Bond I like usually watch that as well. Hoping that Ds9 will come to Spike soon because I haven't watched any of the episodes for a long time (syndication doesn't show it here, too impatient to download and too cheap to buy the dvd sets.)

  14. I'm kind of against the idea of two trek series on at the same time. But I am curious what Bill has in mind. I don't think it'll ever be produced though. He tried to convince TPTB to update Final Frontier and basically they weren't interested in any of Shatner's idea.

  15. I like the nautical look that st II- ST VI. My second fav is the Enterprise uniforms, I love the pockets. On a side note I own both replicas of the original and first contact uniforms they're great.
