  1. When I used to work at a sandwich deli, I got free coffee and literally fell in love with the stuff. I gave up caffiene a eight months ago, so I pretty much phased out the coffee habit. I did however had a great cup of decaf at this place called the "Westport coffee house." Don't know what brew they use but I couldn't believe how great it tasted (even without sugar or cream.)

  2. I've just sent out four letters out to four different addresses. Man, I wonder if this is how the Original fans banded together when they saved if for a third season? Good thing today fans can be connected around the world, thank God for the internet! I'm going to try for the a letter an episode thing, that seems like a good idea (worked in shawshank redemtion.) Hopefully the fans can keep the Wagon Train to the Stars moving! :o  :o

  3. And Get This. I Read That They're Cutting The Upcoming 8th (and Final) Season Of SG-1 Short, 2 Episodes

Probably has too much scifi refrences. Maybe if the gate leads them to a world where dinosaurs are used as kitchen appliances they would consider renewing it for another season. Of course to do that John Edwards would need a reaccuring role where he asks each cast member a bunch of vague questions and reunite them with some dead friendly ghost. Damn them! Damn them all to hell!!!

  4. I believe there was a tome written by Majel-Barrett Roddenberry, which I checked out of the library on Cantus IV and read.It was quite simply deplorable! The book implied that the Federation kept the children and loved ones of all member worlds' leaders on a single planet under threat of death if their homeworld began a conflict or some such nonsense..really!The UFP has never been, nor will ever be so barbaric. Also, the book was overtly sexual.Too much so for a TOS novel,or any Trek novel. It should never have been published I dare say.

:o Wow...is that really a book,or are you role playing? Also what was the title again? Out of shear curiosity I'd like to check out this book.

  5. Also whether you hate or like Shatner, you should check out the movie Free Enterprise.  It's a romatic comedy that involves 2 Star Trek fans who meet their hero William Shatner and find out that he's not all what they expected.  Shatner does an over the top performance in playing himself.  Good flick check it out.

I've never heard of this movie..I'll have to check it out..Is it a recent movie?..Not that it matters..Just curious..

It's a great and funny movie. It's rated R so no one under 18 should watch it.

Here's a link that tells more about the film:

  6. This film was one of my fav when I was a kid, still is. I like the over all story where he's trying to get out of his small time and ends up fighting in some intergalatic war. Those kind of plots ar always winners in my book. I once saw a book that was a sequel to the movie, anyone see or read it?

  7. I heard they were going to show the "Casper the friendly Ghost" movie too. I don't know what they are thinking by showing a bunch of non-sci-fi films on this station. maybe we should all go to their website and complain about it.(It probably won't do any good but someone there might tell TPTB that there are alot of confused and upset people trying to figure out what they are doing.)

Casper the Friendly Ghost? What's next reruns of Saved by the Bell? Is this suppose to be apart of a Crossing Over with John Edwards theme day? I swear to god it's just some old programming director who's gets advice from a neurotic wife who suggest all these crap movies and shows that have nothing to do with Sci-fi. One good thing is that I taped a Kolchak The Nightstalker marathon that came on in the morning. I say morning because it's god forbid they show anything sci-fi during primetime. I don't usually complain about televison, but enough is enough. I'm snail mailing and emailing them about their programming. I don't expect a response, but I want to see what happens. IF I do get a repsonse, I'll post it here.

  8. I had a bad experience with Physics. Mostly to do with the teacher I had who also doubled as the track and field coach. Basically if you asked him a question about a physics problem he would say something like:

"You don't know how to do that, you're an idiot!"

He would say it in a joking manner so we would laugh and ask him again. He would then respond by saying,

"You know a long time ago when I was in highschool <insert old highschool tale here not having anything to do with physics.>"

So you could say I never really learned physics because there wasn't anyone who taught it to me. Or you could say that I didn't listen carefully to his nostalgic stories to find some hidden answer...I'm sure there wasn't one and he really didn't want to help me. In either case I had a really bad experience, and ended up getting a c+. I was expecting worst, but I think in his own twisted logic he liked me. Which I can't say that about my lab partner who really got burned by that guy a lot. He was a foriegn exchange student and for some reason my teacher had it in for this guy. Thankfully, my partner's dad was a physics professor so he knew most of this stuff already. Helped me out a lot too.

  9. Perhaps you watched in syndication instead of first run?

It was the first run for us, we just didn't see it when the rest of the world saw it. A more accurate description would be re-run, but in this case much of the state of kansas hadn't seen the episodes before.

  10. Year of Hell was a great ep, was the first one that literally wowed me out of my chair.  I really loved all of Voyager episode that were presented in a smal made for tv movie format.  Gave it a different feel compared to the other trek IMO.

TV movie format? On my local UPN, it was shown as 2 seperate episodes and never shown as a TV movie. How did you see it in the TV movie format? I had to wait a week for Part II. Hmm...

They did that a lot on my upn affiliate. They would show a lot of two parters as one full on tv movie. The main reason was probably because the original affliate dropped upn programming and we almost had three months of NO voyager. Finally, another channel picked it up and presented a lot of the voyager episodes I missed. It was funny that the episode they showed was year of hell because it felt like I was going through it because I had missed so many voyager episodes.

  11. The channel that shows startrek in Australia is good because every saturday it shows TOS, then TNG, then VOY and DS9. So I'm on the couch watching Startrek for 3 1/2 hours. :)

Plus Stargate SG-1 is arfter that if I want to watch it.

Anyway I can't wait to watch it! But I have to wait another week 'till next Saturday to watch Part 2.

Hey you're lucky that you have a Star Trek block. Where I live (kansas in the US) All we get is Tos episodes at 2:00 am, no ds9, no voyager and the only place to get tng is on Spike Tv, which is a good thing but man can't live on Tng alone.

  13. I know the sci-fi channel is the home of some great programing that a lot of people enjoy (Star Gate, Farscape, <cough> Tremors the series....so sue me I like that show.) I have it flipped on now and they're airing one of "The Flintstones" movies. I don't exactly think that the Flintstones are the epitomy of sci-fi or fantasy. Who the heck runs the programming on the sci-fi channel? I once heard that they showed Braveheart too. Don't get me wrong, Bravheart is a good movie but I don't really classify it as sci-fi. What happen to the Full Moon pics, Lexx, Kolchak The Night Stalker, Good vs Evil or heck even an episode of Dr. Who? (which I really think they should air because it's a great show and it's SCI FI) Some people might have not liked some of those shows, but I think they're levels beyond "The Flintstones." Also those shows you could positively label as SCI-FI.

  14. Kirk is my fav Star Trek character. I liked him. He was a man of action. Also about shatner, I thnk he's mellowed a bit in his old age. I know a couple of people who met him and said that he was more jokey and humerous with the fans. They still think he has a bit of an ego, but it's apart of his charm.

  15. Well it's nice to find some people who liked it. I gave it a 5 myself, the adjustment to the song I could live with. Although I might have gone with a more orchestrated song to fit the tone of the new direction.

  16. The day has finally come, I've avoided every spoiler so I can be totally suprised on what's coming up. Which is really hard to do...had to stop my self from clicking anything marked spoiler. I think it was easier quitting caffeine than avoid clicking one of those things.

  17. My last comment was sort of a joke (<punt> <punt>....is this thing on?), but to answer your question....

All I can say is that some people have a different opinion on what they see entertaining. Slasher movies can be entertaining to one person while offensive to another. Some people like the blood and guts kind of thing, others find it degrading. It just a difference of opinion. A person can like Star Trek, others might not (gasp!)

I'm not going to delve any deeper because I'm no psychologist, but it really just boils down to personal preference. My own opinion is that horror films have a different energy then action films or sci-fi films. Depending on which one you see they can be a very entertaining and some what cathartic.

Also some might find your description of horror movies a little off. Don't take that as an insult because in most cases it's true. Most of the more popular horror movie plots do use that same story structure. Heck, the Friday the 13th 1-10 is almost exactly how you put it. But their are a lot of different horror movies out there that don't involve that sort of thing (The Ring, The Haunting, Evil Dead, 28 Days Later etc...)

Getting back on the subject of the film....was that the actress who played Jason's mom the same actress from the first Friday the 13th?
