  1. IV drip would be great, especially since it would take about 20 seconds to circulate through the body. But sometimes that wouldn't be so hot. I chose other since I prefer to take either a can or bottle and freeze it until it is just a bit slushy. Though I have been known on a few....well a ton, of occasions to forget about where I left my drink and then its rather explosive. To the point that my mom & brother have rocket launched a few cans of soda into the middle of the yard before they reach critical mass. :flowers: oops. I do offer to clean out the freezer when I blow them up, so hey what else can I say? I got what was coming to me once, so I have been better at remembering after that incident.

I had a Pepsi 2 Liter bottle in the freezer, and it got a bit slushy so I took it outside to where I was singing and dancing (my parents have a large shed where we used to have a music system out there was perfect for karaoke & practicing my dance steps for class). I bent down to open the bottle, because I couldnt hold the frozen bottle in my left arm/hand due to a medical problem. So I held cold bottles between my feet and twisted the caps off with my good arm. It apparently had developed a rather large ice plug, and just think Mentos in soda for the reaction I got when that cap came off! The ice plug flew into my right shoulder leaving a nasty welt and I ended up wearing almost all of the 2 liters of fluid!

  2. I was about to turn 23 when I joined.Working as an assistant gymnastics coach for $5 an hour, until that June when I got injured. Had just switched majors from Physics to Chemistry.

Never noticed how moon-eyed I was about my favorite character until I recently reread my old posts... like some love-sick schoolgirl who was sure that he was as real as I was. :flowers::laugh: Embarassing, at least to me... and my family to be honest. And the others I chatted with I am sure, sure that probably alienated some of the other posters from talking much to me.

Now I am 29 years old and a pharmacy technician. Still a Data fan to the end, but no longer go on about him like he was an imaginary friend that I swore was real. No longer live with my parents (due to lack of funds... see above $5 an hour, which was 20-22 hours a week, and a student). Was going to move out but bills and hospital bills caught up with me. Finally moved the day after I got married. Want to go back to school to finish either Physics or Chemistry, but motherhood is more important to me right now. A ton has changed... hopefully its for the better.

  3. Well back when this poll was created... I was single and sorta looking. That was around 6 years ago. Now I have been married almost 5 months to the guy I have wanted to be with since mid 2004. He asked me out Dec 24,2007 and we were married May 2,2009. Orignally we had planned to marry in 2010 or 2011, but when we found out we were expecting we moved the date up happily. Finally found the one who I could talk to dispite language barriers ( I am learning ASL as we go, and slowly picking back up the Spanish I learned in elementary school), the guy who challenges me (like me, he is a former athlete) and I have felt the waiting was well worth it. :flowers:

  4. Can't believe I voted, but didn't post. But, then again most of the Founders could let anyone who didnt know me, that my vote would be for Data. Back before about 4 years ago I would have been in on the drooling over him deal, but 4 years ago I met and fell for my husband. So I tend to see my favorite Trek character a lot differently. He and I could probably chat a lot about stuff, I easily can see me being good friends with him. But then most people (especially online) don't know I have a "less than goody two shoes" side too, so I could probably cause a lot of trouble with Lore too. Nothing illegal mind you, I'd leave that to him because would never go and do something that could get me arrested. But I honestly admit that I do have issues with authority at times. What would be funny is if my brother, sister and myself were stuck in a turbolift or small room with those twins. Add in my husband, my brother in law and my mom to that mix and probably all heck would break loose! ROFL.

  5. My daughter's health improving, now that we got the ok from our nutritionist and did what we wanted (and our family was saying) and are feeding our daughter more than what the consultants (aka :flowers: ) told us we could. She is getting stronger & sleeping longer now. That makes my husband's and my day.

As does the fact that our water bill doesnt suck like we thought it would!!!! A water line broke and I called the city about it at like 11pm when we noticed there was not much pressure, they didnt come until 2:30pm the next day saying I should have taken my little girl out in the middle of the night to search for the leak (or the rainstorm that morning). Or leave her by herself in the house (my hubby had left for work), mmm how 'bout I not?? So they said we'd have to pay for all the water that poured out, I called the city to share MY feelings... So far I'm not seeing a charge for the 100,000+ gallons THEY let pour before the came to check it out. I hope it stays off or I will be angry.

  6. Dont really know yet. I know I have to go to my daughter's first pediatric visit tomorrow (Thursday) & see about getting someone to help pick up my aunt's couch (and help transport our old one & a couple other pieces of furniture). And then be back on Monday for my next Dr. visit. But as for the weekend, probably hanging out around the house with my little one and her Daddy (after he is off work).

I used to plan soo far in advance, but now I am working on just looking at the day ahead and today. Strange for me who always has a schedule down. But its best, as the song says to, "Let Them Be Little". So I am willing to not plan as far ahead. So dont really know what the weekend will bring to us...

  7. Have a little headache but I think its more from no caffeine in 3 days versus the high bp issue. Because I feel great other than the headache.... so just finished a McD's Sweet Tea (caffeine plus addicted to tea in general!!) to help me out.

And my little bit just about finished her formula

Saw youbroughtheryouriker's post...*happy* When did they bring THAT soda back?!?! I LOVE Jolly Rancher soda :flowers: !! I only ever saw it at one gas station back a couple years ago, my family stopped there on our way to a music gig in Central Florida. Haven't seen it since, and I have been looking for it at every gas station I go to.

  8. And for the life of me, about the original discussion, I cant remember but somewhere there is a mention that Maddox was the only Nay vote for Data to enter the academy. I honestly can't tell you if it was a instance of canon or non canon to even limit the things to look for. Something to the effect of him applying to enter the academy and there was a vote done to see if he was granted enterance. I would venture to guess that it would be similar to any in this century applying for college..

It was said in this episode that Maddox had been the only one against Data entering Starfleet Academy.

Its been a little while since I last was here.. Was thinking it was canon, but wasnt 100% sure. Thanks for clearing it up B)

  9. If Riker refused an direct order and had to be court martialed would they do an autopsy to rip out his brain and see if he had gone insane for refusing an order?

yesyesyesyes :) Sorry in a weird and crazy mood today. But yes that is a weird statement he makes. Kinda like them saying I know you're sentient and all but since you are an android we'll put a spin on it that otherwise would never have been made to an organic being.

  10. What B4 stood for, if anything, is all speculation. Anything that Data, Geordi or Picard said about B4's origins in ST: NEM was strictly speculation on their part just as my theory is speculation on my part.

It may be just speculation, but your theory makes a lot of sense, Takara. The A series and B series, I completely agree would make things fall into place a lot more than B4 being an older brother. And for Data, Picard, Geordi et al to say he is a prototype would also make sense, as they do not know where he comes from and that he appears to be vastly different in sophistication would make them assume that he was before Data and Lore. And true they could have just speculated as others here and elsewhere I would guess come to think is that his name meant "before". Which honestly could seem quite valid. Though had his original name from the earlier scripts remained B9 would have totally thrown everyone's theories for a major loop. Save for the fact that B-9 sounds like benign. *shrugs* Mmm its anyone's guess, but your theory mapped out the way it was seems to put more perspective on the Soong family tree.

  11. Don't know how shaving a year off will change much, save for maybe how many (or is that few??) stay on to receive higher education. I am 29, hold an associate's degree & a technical certificate and am about 8 classes away from a Bachelor's in Chemistry AND 5 classes from a Bachelor's in Physics. I dual enrolled during my junior and senior years of high school ( 1996-1997 and 1997-1998 school years). Got the associate's in 2000 and the certificate in 2007. The cost of classes was RIDICULOUS 10 years ago, and is even moreso now... which is why I have yet to continue on and also why it took me so long to get what I have already gotten. PELL grants are great, but when I received them I kept losing them all because I was back at the community college and had well over 70 credits. All I could afford was CC, I say this because the GOVERNMENT said I qualified but the school went UH-UH go to a university if you want this grant, oh and repay us the full price of classes by 5pm today or you are out the door.

Bright Futures was great while it lasted, but that was yanked from me because I withdrew during a semester and in the end of the year didnt have enough credit hours to maintain the scholarship... even with an excellent GPA and documentation of my illness and backing from financial aid department of the university I was attending with that scholarship. I tried to appeal, but even though it cost an arm and a leg and more for me to attend school up there (I drove an hour each way to attend that university), they just said DENIED, because I was more than 5 years out of high school. I had a 4.11 weighted GPA (3.9 or 3.95 unweighted) and was 22nd in my class (there were 80 of us who were honor grads) when I graduated high school, and I could only manage a partial scholarship from Bright Futures. I didnt even know about the PELL until I was 24 years old and was trying to get prereq classes to get a Bachelor's in Chemistry. I had gotten bored with Physics, found I excelled farther in Chemistry and wanted to make a switch; but though many prereqs are the same, there are many that are different.

Taking off a year does nothing, especially to those who can't afford dorms or apartments near the college (I lived until recently with my parents, moved out when I got married) and therefore must commute. That then brings you to parking passes... last I heard UNF's yearly was over $200, and the semester passes were just as pricey. Then books... when I bought my Organic Chemistry book at the community college level in 2004, I paid $135. Got lucky because I had the PELL at that time and had money left over to buy books (since the only allot x amount per semester to use). But there were many others that didn't have it. And partial Bright Futures does not cover any class matierials such as books. My coworker is in Pharmacy school at a well known university, and said that before she even GOT to that school the community college was charging up over $200 for some of the same books (and this was just 2 years ago). Then if the class includes labs there are extra metriculation fees to cover school's insurances and matierials that will be used. And then if you are limited in work hours to make room for school... WOAH, forget it. You are not going to make it in 10 years... 3 is a far cry from even being close in sight.

Except to pay for $300 in books my first semester, my parents had not been able to help me out for college costs at all. My first paid job was a gymnastics coach and I made $5 an hour and could only work 3 to 4 days a week tops while I was in classes. And even when I pushed it where I could work all available hours to me I was only working 20-25 hours per week, and since I was in school a 2nd job was completely out of the question. To be 100% honest I would not be in as much debt, nor would I have ever owned a credit card had I not even bothered with college until later in life. Stinks because though Chemistry helps in my work as a pharmacy technician, I could have easily jumped into the field while in high school. And this is a medical based field. And as for my coworker the intern, I choked on my water when she told someone how many loans she had out in her 3rd year in school of a 6 year program. Which I just recently learned they were trying to make longer than 6 years. Not to mention that it was abour $192 to try and just get into pharmacy school back when I was asking her about how to get into that program. So this idea of shaving a year off is really for the birds and the very rich(are there any of those in the world nowadays??) in my honest opinion.

As for CLEP, I tried it in CC but that was about 10 years ago because I didnt want to take Government & economics because I had just done them in high school the year before. Still had to take them because I missed qualifying by 1 point on each. Oh, and had to shell out money for each too. Money I couldnt really spend, especially when there was a chance I wasnt going to get the CLEP credit. Dont know if they still do CLEP though. I did luck out on 3 classes that were on the books, but didnt exist anymore due to lack of interest in the subject. And that took me 2 months of letters back & forth getting those approved. Then there are the CLAST I believe they are called, if you qualify you are exempt from remedial or prep courses. One of my other coworkers seemed surprised they didnt make me do any because they made her take and pay for all of them... I did have to explain to her that was because I CLAST out and in her case she comes from another country and I dont think they offer it to anyone from out of state (DUMB DUMB DUMB idea because there are many people who could easily qualify to skip those remedial classes from all over the US and the world!! Another opinion of mine of course)

  12. People thinking a pharm tech, pharm intern or pharmacist can heal all their insurance problems and explain why something costs soo much more than what they are lead to believe. Ok, once and finally..... THEY JUST TELL US THE COPAY OR THAT ITS NOT COVERED!!! Not why. And when it comes to not being covered.... its very few and far between that they actually say on their rejection why so dont get all up in arms at us. And please for the love of all that's good in the world, when we suggest that you call the insurance provider dont act like we feel you dont know what you are talking about and like we do not believe you.

99.999% side with you that a tiny bottle of eye drops shouldnt cost anyone for example.... $110, $86 or even $45, but we cant change the prices and the manufacturers are almost assuredly not going to budge. They leave the grey area to be waded through by the patient or their caretakers (if applicable)

On the pharmacy vein... also totally done with the drive thru button pushers. The ones who have their fingers out to press the call button as they are driving up. Please for safety sake HIT THE BREAKS and come to a complete stop first. We are not (and this is in any pharmacy I am sure) going to put you ahead of others that arrived first. We will more than likely be putting you on hold to finish with the customer being waited on to ensure that everything is done correctly and up to HIPAA standards. I know you are in a hurry, everybody nowadays is in a hurry.

And another gripe is those who tell me, "Welll its just a little box, so just slap a label on it and give it to me 'k?" A little box, sure, but there are many more steps between taking that little slip of paper and giving you that little box.

Another thing... I LOVE being pregnant, but am totally sick, tired and done withe the having to run to the restroom every two seconds. That is something I can pass on, though I know its inevitable.

  13. I know what you mean. I was forced to see Shakespeare In Love because that was the only way I would get to see Fight Club. What the heck is up with these chick flicks?

I'm a chick, and occasionally will watch a chick flic....but yeah dont always get them. And as for having to go during a movie... right now for me DVDs beat the heck out of a first run movie for the main fact of the pause button!! Not to mention it takes so long to get out when the theater is crowded so you miss a bit more because you arent paying attention to the movie because you're more worried about stomping someones feet, purse, hidden sodas/food, theater foot etc. Oh, and if you have to deal with stairs there's that too... :superhappy: unless :whistling: you WANT to do those things.

I've seen, so far this year, Night in the Museum II, Star Trek XI and The Fast & The Furious. And except for TFTF, I missed sections of the film because I just had to go. TFTF I had to go BAD by the last 30 minutes, but stayed put so someone didnt take my seat. It was so packed that we originally were sitting on the floor and the cops were trying to kick us out even though we showed tickets that we purchased way in advance and had gotten there early.... but that gripe is an entirely different thread. :iwo:

So definitely hear, hear on the glories of pause & DVDs!! And the site was amusing btw

  14. Uh, favorite scene?? Most of them actually. I was surprised on how much I liked the movie...since I am a TNG fan first and foremost. But I always did like the characters of Spock & McCoy, so there was definitely a reason...

    Click for Spoiler:

One of the many scenes that stood out was young Kirk and the car. First words out of my mouth was, "Ohh why do I picture my daughter doing something like this when she's older??". All the McCoy scenes were a favorite. ESPECIALLY the segments with trying to get Kirk onto the ship. "Stop It", allergic reactions, et al.

Cried my face off at the beginning.. so did my sister. Very hard to watch, but in Starfleet, like the military that is entirely a possibility of happening (true with today's militaries the civilians arent travelling in ships with the servicemen & women). The death of Kirk's father/the birth of Kirk was a well shot scene, but from an emotional standpoint very hard to watch.

I totally agree about the Kobayashi Maru, and Kirk just eating the apple and being so sure of himself throughout it. Very funny.

Wow, there's a lot to write about but, not a lot of time since I have to head back home soon (borrowing my mom's computer until mine is fixed & internet is installed). But I think for now those are a big start point.

  15. hahahaha I always liked this one, first heard it on a Dr. Demento album. Cant remember if it was the 20th or 25th anniversary albums but still.. And I never knew there was a Claymation vid to go with it. Thanks muchly for posting,Android girl!

  16. interesting... dont agree with people's pain being a show for me, in fact I usually HATE to see people in pain. Even though there are some people who are just mean & evil, and constantly get away with it... and they anger me to no end  :whistling:

  17. Its mainly a Data-centric episode so most would consider my vote a bit biased since he is my favorite character. However, it goes beyond "Oh, he's my fave" altogether it was a very well put together episode. I enjoyed in Parts I & II the crew being in the 19th century. True, the rest of the crew we dont get to see in the 19th until Part II... but I am counting all when I say the crew. The interactions with "Peekard" and the landlady cracked me up. I did indeed vote this one as a 5
