  3. I just watched Balance a few nights ago, great episode. City is one of the all time classic episodes!

I never really cared for Battlefield but Mirror, Mirror and THe Enterprise Incident were botg really good too.

  4. Yes, I agree that Kai Winn was a character you had to hate...

But, honestly, where could the series have gone if there was no conflict on all fronts?

As much as I liked the character of Vedek Bariel, I just don't think there would have been that much to his being Kai, unless he somehow went bad after taking the position, but that just wouldn't of fit.

The only thing I'd change is Jadzia's death.

    Stingray

I understand why Winn was written the way she was, and I agree it probably was needed. Thugh I do think they could have gone in other directions had Opaca stayed on the show. The Kai didn't have to "go bad" to have the conflicts. They could have the ruler of Bajor be at odds with Opaca.

But looking back I wouldn't have them change anything if I was able to. I like DS9 just the way it is. Even bringing Ezri in, but that could be more because of how cute she is :o

  5. This episode is one of my all-time favorites.

Here's another great example of DS9 breaking the mold of the oft-mentioned sanitary and organized setting of other of "Trek"'s.

I especially loved the way Avery Brooks looked straight at the camera at the end of the show.  I got the feeling I was right there in the room with him.

    Stingray

(I think I'll watch it again tonight after the kids go to bed).

TO me, I believe this is my favorite of any episode of all the Star Treks. Avery Brooks brings such passion to Sisko, and yes at the end when he looks at the camera and says

"I can live with that" just awesome. Great way to end the episode, then he deletes the log entry... makes it like we were his "father confessor" and after he said his peace he wiped it out of the computer.

For anyone that hasn't seen this episode... WATCH IT! :o

  6. As I said in your other post, you are among your own kind here :o In fact we are putting together a STARTREKFANS.NET convention for Las Vegas in 2004, be sure to check out the Convention board for details.

  7. Trekkie, Trekker doesn't matter. The important thing is... You're one of US

Welcome to the boards! I know you will like it here and I look forward to chatting with you about Star Trek. Some say I have a bit of a Trek obsession too, in fact one person (Amy - aka Luvin1stdegree) even thinks I need therapy because of it :o :o

  8. That's a hard question to answer. I agree that they shouldn't do to much inside the ship or to the actors. Leave the bulk of the show as it was intended to be seen. Of course if Gene had the budget who knows what his intentions would have been. Klingons would likely have had the forehead ridges. They didn't though, so leave that alone. Leave the other aliens alone too.

Spicing up battle sceens, or enhancing the Phaser beams or transporter effects might be cool though. I really woulndn't want much if anything done though.

To me it's one of those "Sacred" things you shouldn't mess with.

  9. It doesn't need a super-secret Intelligence group (Section 31 is a branch of Federation Intelligence) because it is only associated with one alien species, the Vulcans.

I have to agree with VBG on this one, I just watched the DS9 Episode where Section 31 was introduced and it is stated that it was part of the original STARFLEET charter, not the Federation Charter, so I think it already exists. It would make sense for Starfleet to have included a provision for this sort of "agency" maybe Section 31 started out as a mostly internal affairs group and grew to the organization that we all know.

Exactly, it clearly says "Original Starfleet Charter" in the episode. Had the Federation been in place at the same time Starfleet was formed then prehaps Section 31 might never exist.

But at the time Starfleet was all there was (errr... will be) and Starfleet had to look out for the protection of the human race and do so "at any cost" and by "any means".

  10. I too thought it was a great Episode!

    Click for Spoiler:

My only "complaint" would be that on Enterprise ehrn the security officers were shooting the Borg and Archer and Reed were on the Borg ship why didn't Archer's Borg learn to adapt to the phasers at the same time the Enterprise Borg learned to adapt? Being a collective mind once one Borg learns to adapt they all know how to, right?

As for why Phlox was able to discover that Radiation was effective against the Nano-probes and Crusher or any of the future doctors couldn't? Well I can't recall an instance where a "future" doctor was able to study assimilation from it's beginning stages the way Phlox was able to. He got the aliens while they were still "Themselves". That's my take on it anyway.

Another thing I was waiting to see how they handled it, when the Borg ship hailed Enterprise, the only thing they said was: "You Will Be Assimilated. Resistance is Futile." No mention that "We Are The Borg". That saves the timeline and shuts the naysayers up... LOL

As for hoe bysty saw the episode on Tuesday, well bsysty will have to let everyone know. I myself had the episode downloaded by 2:30 or 3:00pm Wed afternoon. Had I not had to go to work I'd have watched it hours before everyone else. The internet is a wonderous thing, you just have to know where to look for what you wany. I hope to get next weeks episode at least a day early.

P.S. You gotta love that spoiler feature. I'm sure it saves a lot of people from reading things they don't want to read yet.

  11. Welcome aboard! Don't worry about mistakes, no one here will jump on you for it. I think you'll enjoy yourself here. Have fun!

I loved the A-Team, in fact when I was a Manager for MCI/1800-collect I managed a team of 45 operators. Our team name was "The A-Team" lol.
