So far I've been very impressed with their efforts.

Is it just me or is the girl voice that's vocalizing the opening theme in Seasons 2 and 3 too high (volume wise)? In the original versions the voice was there but didn't overpower the instruments. In the remastered set the new theme with the new singers voice seems to overpower the music, especially at the end of the opening credits when she hits the highest notes.

Picard was great on TNG but if I have to pick between the 2 then it's Kirk.

Why did he want T'Pol to be "happy?" Isn't happiness a human quality?T'Pol actually stated in one episode that Vulcans do have emotions - they just control them. Although I'm guessing this was a writer's error.
And happiness isn't a human quality because Denoblians, Betazeds etc experience it too.
No, I don't believe it was a writers error. It's always been the case that Vulcans have emotions but they suppress them. Think back to Spock in "All Our Yesterdays" and how he began to revert back to what Vulcans were 5,000 years ago and think about Sarek in Star Trek III, the emotions that he displayed with Kirk and in explaining to the Vulcan Priestess that where his son was concerned his logic was uncertain, in other words he wasn't as able to control his emotions when it came to Spock as he was in any other instance.
I think we've seen all Vulcans (or most of them) that have been on the show display some form of emotions.

Help me out here, because I haven't watched Deep Space Nine in a while. But wasn't there an episode where Sisko asked the prophets to close the wormhole to a fleet of Dominion ships that were about to come through? And then the prophets told him that he'd have to repay them somehow? Could having to live with them be the payment? I, too, wish Sisko could have just gone to live in his house on Bajor. But it would have seemed like an empty promise if the series ended and he hadn't repaid his debt.I think you're merging 2 different things together, he did ask them to 'get rid' of the Dominion fleet... which they did and when he was about to get re-married they told him that if he did that there'd be pain or words to that effect meaning that it would be a short lived marriage.

That is very odd. It seems like it could potentially be in relation to the fact that on July 2nd, Kalemi and McNair were pulled over for DWI (well, she was). Seems like a bit of a stretch, though. However, you may want to consider bringing that to the attention of the authorities (apparently, the police are not looking at any suspects).
I'm not sure how you would do so, though.
The place where I found the link said that they already sent it to the TN police so it could be that they either checked it out or are saying that they aren't looking at any suspects in order to lull the suspects into feeling secure.

As details come out about the murder of Steve McNair it's still not officially known whether or not it's a double homicide or a murder/suicide. Things seem to be pointing at the possibility of murder/suicide but there's also the possibility that it was set up to look that way. We may never know.
One thing that I did see that is puzzling to say the least was a MySpace page that seemingly foretold the events of July 4th 2 days before it happened. When I saw the MySpace page I had a feeling that it would either quickly be taken offline or quickly be altered so I took a screen cap of it which is attached in a spoiler box below. Within a few hours of me taking this screen cap the MySpace page did indeed get taken offline, so I hope the proper authorities were able to see it and get the information from it before it vanished.
I'm placing it into a spoiler box because there's some language contained in it that would normally be filtered out had it been typed into a post here on the boards, I'm not going to alter the picture though to mask that language.
It may be nothing, but it's just a little odd. When you look at the picture keep in mind that Steve McNair and the woman involved were killed on the 4th of July. This MySpace profile hadn't been logged into since the 2nd of July.
You may need to click on the picture in order to enlarge it so you can read it.

The Voyage Home was my vote for #2 as well. So far my vote is as follows:
#1 Star Trek II
#2 Star Trek IV

The Xindi arc was probably the best of all Enterprises's arcs. Along with the Vulcan/Andorian feuding, the Xindi arc really showed that forming a Federation of planets is not necessarily going to be easy. Huge obstacles often have to be overcome first. My problem, though, was that Enterprise was a total serial. Nothing but arc upon arc. I didn't care for it. If you missed one episode, or got a DVD from Blockbuster that was out of order, you were screwed (which is why I now prefer Netflix).
Yeah, the third and fourth seasons were very much serialized but the first 2 seasons weren't really. I suppose you could take the whole temporal cold war as a massive 3+ season arc (3+ because it went into the Th season a little). The fourth season had a few 3 part arcs, but I don't hold that against the series at all.
DS9 was very serialized as well starting with the 4th season and the Klingon arc then the Dominion war after that. I really think it worked well though, but I can understand how a "casual viewer" might be turned off by that kind of series. When DS9 was in it's first run I wasn't always able to catch every episode but I was still very into the episodes that I could catch and I knew that I'd 'catch up' with re-runs.

Ok, this is the second of eleven planned polls ranking the Star Trek movies. This one, as the title says is to rank the second best out of the eleven movies.
So far, as I type this Star Trek II is ranked as #1. Which will be #2?

I stopped drinking it almost completely about 5 years ago, before I quit though I drank it any way I got it. Can, bottle, glass. Didn't matter to me.
you can still buy glass bottles at the grocery store for some of the sodas, but they only come in six packs. I just bought some a couple of weeks ago. I have to say, I'm addicted to glass bottles, I guess it reminds me of when I was a kid. The only downer is that the bottles pile up rather quickly and they are everywhere. It's bad when the garbage bag is full of glass bottles. I vote for that, but my second choice would be plastic bottlesAre they returnable bottles? I don't know if they even make returnable bottles anymore.
As a kid we used to collect all the returnable bottles we could find and take them to the store for candy money. Five to fifteen cents per bottle, something like that. We also used to collect bags and bags of aluminum cans to to take down to be recycled. I forget how much per pound we'd get for them. Bottles and cans paid for a lot of summer movies though, not to mention a lot of Pac Man and Tron... and the occasional Atari cartridge lol.

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Veteran actor Karl Malden, who won an Academy Award for his role in "A Streetcar Named Desire," has died at age 97, his manager said Wednesday.I remember The Streets of San Francisco and the movie Gypsy. He lived a very long life.
I just heard this on TV, sad news. We're losing a lot of stars this year.

What's your favorite vacation spot? I don't often take vacations so I don't know that I'd have a 'favorite' spot but I'd be interested in hearing everyone elses and if you have some vacation pics that you'd like to share I'd like to see them as well.
So, where would you go if you could go on vacation tomorrow?

That would be out of character for Picard though, and when he asked Data if he knew that would happen Data said that he understood.I really don't see it that way. Everyone uses hyperbole once in awhile. That's just me though.
I don't see it as hyperbole, would Picard threaten Worf with being killed and having his brain removed if he disobeyed an order? In a serious situation where the Captain believes that the ship is in serious danger or some serious situation exists and his 2nd officer is lying to him and he is trying to gain the truth then every sentence he says has to hold weight and be truthful.
If he were to say "Data, if you don't tell me the truth I'll flush you out the nearest airlock!" that would be hyperbole. Saying "You'll be stripped down to your wires to figure out what went wrong" is telling Data what he believes Starfleets reaction to his disobedience will be.
I believe it was just the writers trying to convey the sense that Data was willing to face his own death in order to protect the Enterprise crew, they just didn't take into account that Data isn't the property of Starfleet like the ships computer is and 'stripping him down to his wires' wouldn't be an option.

Through the years here on the board we've always had threads when celebrities have passed away, after Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died I began thinking about making a new forum for celebrity deaths. Sounds kind of morbid I know, but we do post them when they happen and I thought it would be a good idea to have a specific forum just for those announcements. Not to have it be a 'morbid' section of the board, but just to have a place where all of the threads can be placed in one area.
I'll search out and move all of the past announcements that I can find into this forum as I have time.

Don't forget David Carradine!Has there been a determination on suicide/murder/accidental death yet?

people always seem to die in threes. Ed, Michael and FarrahNow Gale, Billy and probably somebody else (or you can include the Vegas guy VBG mentioned)
lol The "Vegas guy" was more than a Vegas guy, he used to be all over TV. Younger people may not remember him but I saw him quite a bit on TV in the 70's and 80's.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090629/ap_on_..._obit_travalenaMon Jun 29, 5:55 am ET
LOS ANGELES – Impressionist Fred Travalena, a headliner in Vegas showrooms and a regular on late-night talk shows with his takes on presidents, crooners and screen stars, has died in Los Angeles. He was 66.
Publicist Roger Neal says Travalena died Sunday at his home in the Encino area after a recurrence of the non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that first surfaced in 2002.
Travalena was known for the sheer volume of celebrities he imitated, leading to the nicknames "The Man of a Thousand Voices" and "Mr. Everybody."
His act included presidents from Kennedy to Obama, musicians from Frank Sinatra to Bruce Springsteen and actors from Marlon Brando to Tom Cruise.
The Bronx native started his career in Las Vegas in 1971.

I question whether this person can actually be classified as a celebrityI suppose it depends on how you define "celebrity". He made many infomercials and commercials and had his own reality show on Discovery. To some that would qualify him to some degree of 'celebrity' status.

Man, time just flies by! It's been 5 years already?

Depending on how many times you've seen the episodes you may not notice. If I hadn't seen them all so many times I don't believe I'd notice, but having seen them all so very many times over the past 35 years I can pretty much spot any little difference. That said, the differences are subtle and done in the 'style' of the effects from the 60's. Just enhanced.
