Jim Phaserman 0 Posted February 29, 2004 Okay, I am listening to a Garth Brooks CD, and I just heard a GREAT line in his song "Blood is thicker than water" the line goes like this.... "Blood is thicker than water, but love is thicker than blood. but if Blood is thicker than water, well than wut 'r' we fightin' for?"
t'mir 0 Posted February 29, 2004 There's a line I really like in Jen Knapp's "Hold Me Now"... it goes: "...Point your finger and laugh if you choose, to say my beloved is borrowed and used! She is strong enough to stand in my love..."
Ace 0 Posted February 29, 2004 I've always liked this one from Scott Krippayne: "Sometimes he calms the storm, with a wisper "Peace be still". He can settle any sea, but it doesn't mean he will. Sometimes he holds us close, and lets the wind and waves go wild. Sometimes he calms the storm, and other times he calms his child."

Jim Phaserman 0 Posted March 2, 2004 I keep listening to Darryl Worley's "Shiloh", and it paints a very real picture of Civil War combat, and has a message about how we should respect those who have fallen for us, and we should also learn from History. 'Shiloh' by Darryl Worley Click for Spoiler: A mist halos the meadowand a soft wind breathes a whisper through the trees as I lean against a hickory I close my eyes and I can almost see the ghostly forms of blue and gray and i can almost hear the cannons blast Standing in the presence of the past The first few waves came cheering fear and hatred came running through their blood When the day was finally over those left were wading through a crimson flood To think I could be right here in the spot where some young solidier breathed his last standing in the presence of the past Brother fighting brother father fighting son by the time the sun was setting looked like the south had won now my mouth's as dry as cotton and my heart is beating fast standing in the presence of the past sunrise caught the rebels sleeping and they woke to hear a yankee bugle blow bullets flew like angry hornets till the peach tree blossoms drifted down like snow it mut have been like hell on earth what happened here is more than we can grasp standing in the presence of the past brother fighting brother father fighting son by the time the smoke had lifted they knew the north had won lord my soul feels empty as my tears fall on this grass standing in the presence of the past Brother killing brother Father slaying son from the looks of this old graveyard hell nobody really won somethings changed inside me it sure can happen fast Standing in the presence of the past A mist halos the meadow and a soft wind breathes a whisper through the trees
Jim Phaserman 0 Posted March 3, 2004 sunrise caught the rebels sleepingand they woke to hear a yankee bugle blow bullets flew like angry hornets till the peach tree blossoms drifted down like snow it mut have been like hell on earth what happened here is more than we can grasp standing in the presence of the past When I listen to and read this part of the song...it paints an interesting contrast. something that would normally be considered horrendous and awful(gunfire) creating something many people might consider beautiful (the peach tree blossoms drifting down like snow). cptwright 1 Posted March 3, 2004 Click for Spoiler: This day could be the worst one yetI just won't relax I can't catch my breath Because I'm sick and tired of you'll be fine Well how do you know, can you read minds.............. Have you ever felt lost inside so unloved within that you almost die Have you ever stepped out of the light and realized there's a stranger inside stranger inside Cause I found a way to steal the sun from the sky Long live that day that I decided to fly from the inside...... I can't escape the pain I can't control the rage Sometimes I think that I'm gonna go insane I'm not against what's right I'm not for what's wrong I'm just making my way and I'm gone Here's the weight of the world on my shoulders fly from the inside I lie here alone and wonder why That I come alive, just before I half to hide Because I believe I'm losing my nerve But could I ever do better than this Because all I ever wanted was a place to call my home To shelter me when I am there and to miss me when I'm gone All I ever wanted was a place to call my own Where stars may dance and sun still shines and the storms feel free to roam all i ever wanted Send a message to the unborn child Keep your eyes open for a while In a box high up on the shelf, left for you, no one else There's a piece of a puzzle known as life Wrapped in guilt, sealed up tight What ever happened to the young man's heart Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart .45 ok i know these exerpts from the songs, arent insperational persay. but they help me to know that everyone has crap in life to go through and it could be a whole lot worse, and actually help me to feel better about my life. these by the way are all from shinedown. Jeanway 0 Posted March 3, 2004 TAKE THIS WALTZ Click for Spoiler: BASED ON POEM, BY Frederico Garcia lorca( Little Viennese Waltz) Sung by Leonard Cohen '88' CD- I'm YOUR MAN Now in Vienna there are ten pretty women There's a shoulder where Death comes to cry There's a lobby with nine hundred windows There's a tree where the doves go to die. There's a piece that was torn from the morning, And it hangs in the Gallery of Frost Oh My love, Oh my love, Take this Waltz with the clamp on it's jaws Oh I want you I want you I want you On a chair with a dead magazine In the cave at the tip of a Lily In some hallway where love's never been On a bed where the moon has been sweating In a cry filled with footsteps and sand Take this Waltz ..Take it's broken waist in your hand This waltz, this waltz, With it's very own breath of Brandy and Death Dragging it's tail in the sea There's a concert hall in Vienna, where your mouth's had a Thousand reviews There's a bar where the boys have stopped talking They've been sentenced to Death, by the blues Ah, but who is it climbs to your picture With a Garland of freshly cut tears Take this Waltz, it's been dying for years There's an attic where children are playing Where I've got to lie down with you soon In a dream of Hungarian Lanterns In the mist of some sweet afternoon And I'll see what you've chained toyour sorrow All your sheep and your lillies of snow Take this Waltz.. with it's " I'll never forget you, you know" And I'll dance with you in Vienna I'll be wearing a river's disguise The hyacinth wild on my shoulder, my mouth on the dew of your thighs And I'll bury my soul in a scrapbook, with the photographs there and the moss And I'll yeild to the flood of your beauty My cheap violin and my cross And you'll carry me down on your dancing To the pools that you lift on your wrist Oh my love, oh my love Take this waltz , Its yours now It's all that there is. Irrespective of the pain forming bonds will bring. this song is so true to me. there is so much pain i have felt in my relationship with my wife, and the added pain of the shortlived relationship with angel. but god help me i like to think i wouldnt of changed a thing. the good times will be great memories, and the badtimes. or breakups will be a learning experience. plus as i have learned id rather get hurt taking a chance, than to live a hollow miserable person. i enjoy having feeling and being well i guesss a sap. although sometimes its somewhat frustrating for a long time i couldnt listen to this song without terrible anquish, but now its just a song that helps me remember the lessons in my life. i love it. the song that is. Jim Phaserman 0 Posted March 5, 2004 I want to find some lyrics here... this song is kind of angry, but it is a motivating song for those of us who are in the service. Click for Spoiler: This ain't no rag it's a flag And we don't wear it on our heads It's a symbol of the land where the good guys live Are you listening to what I said You're a coward and a fool And you broke all of the rules And you wounded our American pride And now we're coming with a gun And we know you're gonna run But you can't find no place to hide We're gonna hunt you down like a mad dog hound Make you pay for the live you stole We're all through talking and a messing around And now it's time to rock and roll These colors don't run and we're speaking as one When we say united we stand When you mess with one, you mess with us all Every boy, girl, woman and man You've been acting mighty rash And talking that trash Let me give you some advice You can crawl back in your hole Like a dirty little mole But now you're gonna pay the price You might of shot us in the back Now you have to face the fact That the big boys' in the game And the lighening's been flashing And the thunder's been crashing And now it's getting ready to rain Chorus: This is the United States of America The land of the brave and the free We believe in God and we believe in justice We believe in liberty You've been pulling our chain We should've done something 'bout you a long time ago But now the flag's flying high and the fur's gonna fly And soon the whole world's gonna know This ain't no rag, it's a flag Old Glory red, white and blue The stars and the stripes when it comes to a fight We can do what we have to do Our people stand proud The American crowd is faithful, loyal and tough We're good as the best and better than the rest And you're gonna find out soon enough When you look up in the sky And you see the eagle fly You better know he's a heading your way Cause this ain't no rag it's a flag And it stands for the USA USA USA USA Repeat Chorus Mod Note: Jim, I just added the spoiler to the post to shorten the length of it. Click for Spoiler: Lies, well they're OK...more elaborate every dayTruth well it's here too...What can you make it do for you? Greed it's just a drive...Do what you can to stay alive Peace, it's just a dream...so rock and roll and kick and scream . Now won't you tell me if you like what you've just heard? And if you think the point I'm driving at absurd Well there's no need to tell me how or tell me why But I need to know the reason not to try Cause if you look around you might just feel like me And you might notice no one was ever really free And maybe, just maybe for now that's how it's supposed to be Could be so far we've only earned the right to barely see . The poison has infected you...have no fear I'm infected too War they come and go...no telling where the wind will blow Pain was always there...sad reminder that you care Hate, the price you pay...for thinking you got the only way . Now won't you tell me if you like what you've just heard? And if you think the point I'm driving at absurd Well there's no need to tell me how or tell me why But I need to know the reason not to try Cause if you look around you might just feel like me And you might notice no one was ever really free And maybe, just maybe for now that's how it's supposed to be Could be so far we've only earned the right to barely see Barely see, barely see, barely see, barely see, let's see... . For your parents Ellis Island, what had they gone through? And if you descend from the Mayflower, well they were running too They were running from England, they were warring with France Who would conquer Spain given half a chance But it was the Muslims who had gotten there first When there wasn't the bloodshed then there was the thirst And a hate for the Christians, the infiltrators of Rome You know that once mighty empire who made Africa home The poor noble Egyptians, oh the hardships they braved Remembering the good times, with Judea enslaved And the Israelite nation, the very children of God Killing Palestine's children, and I'm finding it odd The Earth, a piece of fruit, don't blame the maggots when they loot Life's just a game we play, try to live just one more day Space, our final hope...throw the drowning man a rope The choice is for us to say, completely change or fade away. . Now won't you tell me if you like what you've just heard? And if you think the point I'm driving at absurd Well there's no need to tell me how or tell me why But I need to know the reason not to try Cause if youlook around you might just feel like me And you might notice no one was ever really free And maybe, just maybe for now that's how it's supposed to be Could be so far we've only earned the right to barely see .
