Star Trek XI and The Economy

Do you believe that the current state of the economy will hurt Star Trek XI? With so many people out of work right now it could have a negative effect on the Box Office Revenue, which could be bad not only for the movie but for the franchise itself.

Perhaps, but Star Trek would not be effected any more so than any other movie being released this year. If there is a statistically significant decline in global box office numbers, that will definitely factor into how movies released this year are evaluated in terms of success.

exactly, all of the movies would be effected too, so it shouldn't change the reception

At the height of the Great Depression, movie sales and attendance went *up*.

 

Then again, it was one of the cheapest forms of entertainment around at the time and waiting 70 years for the DVD to come out had it's drawbacks.
