Wishfire 2 Posted December 9, 2004 (edited) Like the title asks, what's your favorite song? Also, let's see the lyrics for it. Please put lyrics in spoilers. If there's a bad word, replace it with "***" so that no one can be offended. Here's mine: Favorite song... "Return (Coming Home)" by The Crüxshadows. Lyrics... Click For Spoiler I've seen the terrible hand of struggle and felt the pain the hubris brings I have tasted the wisdom of divinity and the horror of its sting And though they tell you i am lost and their words report my death is come the fates have left me breathing still very much alive And though my mind is cut by battles fought so long ago I return victorious I am coming home And if the paths that I have followed have tread against the flow there is no need for sorrow I am coming home For the distance I have traveled upon an ocean of despair have led me back into your arms once more an answer to a little prayer And though they tell you i am lost and their words report my death is come the fates have left me breathing still very much alive And though my mind is cut by battles fought so long ago I return victorious I am coming home And if the paths that I have followed have tread against the flow there is no need for sorrow I am coming home Edited December 9, 2004 by wishfire

Yillara Skye 1 Posted December 10, 2004 I have a few favorites, and they sometimes change from time to time. But here are two that are always on my list(and I have loved them since I was very little): "Beyond The Sea" by Bobby Darin Click For Spoiler Somewhere beyond the sea,Somewhere, waiting for me, My lover stands on golden sands And watches the ships that go sailing; Somewhere beyond the sea, He's (She's) there watching for me. If I could fly like birds on high, Then straight to his (her) arms I'd go sailing. It's far beyond a star, It's near beyond the moon, I know beyond a doubt My heart will lead me there soon. We'll meet beyond the shore, We'll kiss just as before. Happy we'll be beyond the sea, And never again I'll go sailing! and "Nights In White Satin" by the Moody Blues Click For Spoiler Nights in white satin,Never reaching the end, Letters I've written, Never meaning to send. Beauty I'd always missed With these eyes before, Just what the truth is I can't say anymore. 'Cause I love you, Yes, I love you, Oh, how, I love you. Gazing at people, Some hand in hand, Just what I'm going thru They can understand. Some try to tell me Thoughts they cannot defend, Just what you want to be You will be in the end, And I love you, Yes, I love you, Oh, how, I love you. Oh, how, I love you. Nights in white satin, Never reaching the end, Letters I've written, Never meaning to send. Beauty I'd always missed With these eyes before, Just what the truth is I can't say anymore. 'Cause I love you, Yes, I love you, Oh, how, I love you. Oh, how, I love you. 'Cause I love you, Yes, I love you, Oh, how, I love you. Oh, how, I love you. Spoken: Breathe deep in the gathering gloom Watch lights fade from every room Bedsitter people look back and lament Another day's useless energy's spent Impassioned lovers wrestle as one Lonely man cries for love and has none New mother picks up and suckles her son Senior citizens wish they were young Cold-hearted orb that rules the night Removes the colors from our sight Red is grey and yellow white And we decide which is right And which is an illusion? VaBeachGuy 12 Posted December 10, 2004 It's impossible to pick only one but since I can't really put all of the lyrics to all of my favorites here I'll put one of the most classic... Don't Be Cruel by Elvis in 1956 Click For Spoiler You know I can be found, sitting home all alone, If you can't come around, at least please telephone. Don't be cruel to a heart that's true. Baby, if I made you mad for something I might have said, Please, let's forget the past, the future looks bright ahead, Don't be cruel to a heart that's true. I don't want no other love, Baby it's just you I'm thinking of. Don't stop thinking of me, don't make me feel this way, Come on over here and love me, you know what I want you to say. Don't be cruel to a heart that's true. Why should we be apart? I really love you baby, cross my heart. Let's walk up to the preacher and let us say I do, Then you'll know you'll have me, and I'll know that I'll have you, Don't be cruel to a heart that's true. I don't want no other love, Baby it's just you I'm thinking of. Don't be cruel to a heart that's true. Don't be cruel to a heart that's true. Kyra_Ashleigh 0 Posted December 10, 2004 The War - Second Coming Click For Spoiler "THE WAR" I was enlisted at the age of twelve Back then, it seemed I was cheated There was a thousand miles between us And I can't see a damn thing Takin' a ride I'm off to the (war) They all knew I wasn't Coming home My ticket's burned I don't know why Unlucky am I The end was coming My patience running out There was no hope to speak oj Inside I was down to pennies If there was anyway To sell my soul I surely have tried But now I'm back with A fist full of words Layin' down some blues That you ain't never heard Life is just groovy And it tastes like it should I got me a hawg And a place in the woods Lungs full of herb And it's all good! Takin' a ride I'm back from the war Think it's time they all Knew I was home My ticket's good I'll tell you why How lucky am I! If home is where it's at Do I get another chance? This time around I said if home is where it's at Do I get another chance? I'll bring you a Taste of war How lucky am I! My ticket's good I'll tell you why How lucky am I? Or so I pretend This song reminds me so much of the tough times I have had in my life and reminds me to be thankful every day for the fact that I'm still here and living. Yillara Skye 1 Posted December 11, 2004 Here is another that is always high on my list..(like the other two, it is a song I have liked since I was very young) "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot. Click For Spoiler The legend lives on from the Chippewa on downOf the big lake they call Gitche Gumee The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead When the skies of November turn gloomy. With a load of iron ore - 26,000 tons more Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed When the gales of November came early The ship was the pride of the American side Coming back from some mill in Wisconson As the big freighters go it was bigger than most With a crew and the Captain well seasoned. Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms When they left fully loaded for Cleveland And later that night when the ships bell rang Could it be the North Wind they'd been feeling. The wind in the wires made a tattletale sound And a wave broke over the railing And every man knew, as the Captain did, too, T'was the witch of November come stealing. The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait When the gales of November came slashing When afternoon came it was freezing rain In the face of a hurricane West Wind When supper time came the old cook came on deck Saying fellows it's too rough to feed ya At 7PM a main hatchway caved in He said fellas it's been good to know ya. The Captain wired in he had water coming in And the good ship and crew was in peril And later that night when his lights went out of sight Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Does anyone know where the love of God goes When the words turn the minutes to hours The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay If they'd fifteen more miles behind her. They might have split up or they might have capsized They may have broke deep and took water And all that remains is the faces and the names Of the wives and the sons and the daughters. Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings In the ruins of her ice water mansion Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams, The islands and bays are for sportsmen. And farther below Lake Ontario Takes in what Lake Erie can send her And the iron boats go as the mariners all know With the gales of November remembered. In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral The church bell chimed, 'til it rang 29 times For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald. The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee Superior, they say, never gives up her dead When the gales of November come early. "Twilight" by Vanessa Carlton: Click For Spoiler I was stained with a role in a day not my own but as you walked into my life you showed what needed to be shown I always knew what was right I just didn’t know that I might peel away and choose to see with such a difference sight and I will never see the sky the same way and I will learn to say good-bye to yesterday and I will never cease to fly if held down and I will always reach too high cause I've seen cause I've seen twilight never cared never wanted never sought to see what flaunted so on purpose so in my face couldn’t see beyond my own place it was so easy not to behold what I could hold but you taught me I could change whatever came within these shallow days and I will never see the sky the same way and I will learn to say good-bye to yesterday and I will never cease to fly if held down and I will always reach too high cause I've seen cause I've seen twilight as the sun shines through it pushes away and pushes ahead it fills the warmth of blue and leaves a chill instead and I didn’t know that I could be so blind to all that is so real but as illusion dies I see there is so much to be revealed and I will never see the sky the same way and I will learn to say good-bye to yesterday and I will never cease to fly if held down and I will always reach too high cause I've seen cause I've seen twilight I was stained with a role in a day not my own but as you walked into my life you showed what needed to be shown I always knew what was right I just didn’t know that I might peel away and choose to see with such a difference sight and I will never see the sky the same way and I will learn to say good-bye to yesterday and I will never cease to fly if held down and I will always reach too high cause I've seen cause I've seen twilight "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence: Click For Spoiler how can you see into my eyes like open doors leading you down into my core where I’ve become so numb without a soul my spirit sleeping somewhere cold until you find it there and lead it back home wake me up inside wake me up inside call my name and save me from the dark bid my blood to run before I come undone save me from the nothing I’ve become now that I know what I’m without you can't just leave me breathe into me and make me real bring me to life wake me up inside wake me up inside call my name and save me from the dark bid my blood to run before I come undone save me from the nothing I’ve become bring me to life frozen inside without your touch without your love darling only you are the life among the dead all this time I can't believe I couldn't see kept in the dark but you were there in front of me I’ve been sleeping a thousand years it seems got to open my eyes to everything without a thought without a voice without a soul don't let me die here there must be something more bring me to life
VaBeachGuy 12 Posted December 23, 2004 Sometimes I'm just in the mood for this kind of song... Blame it all on my roots I showed up in boots And ruined your black tie affair The last one to know The last one to show I was the last one You thought you'd see there And I saw the surprise And the fear in his eyes When I took his glass of champagne And I toasted you Said, honey, we may be through But you'll never hear me complain 'Cause I've got friends in low places Where the whiskey drowns And the beer chases my blues away And I'll be okay I'm not big on social graces Think I'll slip on down to the oasis Oh, I've got friends in low places Well, I guess I was wrong I just don't belong But then, I've been there before Everything's all right I'll just say goodnight And I'll show myself to the door Hey, I didn't mean To cause a big scene Just give me an hour and then Well, I'll be as high As that ivory tower That you're livin' in 'Cause I've got friends in low places Where the whiskey drowns And the beer chases my blues away And I'll be okay I'm not big on social graces Think I'll slip on down to the oasis Oh, I've got friends in low places [3rd Verse:] I guess I was wrong I just don't belong But then, I've been there before And everything is alright I'll just say goodnight And I'll show myself to the door I didn't mean to cause a big scene Just wait 'til I finish this glass Then sweet little lady I'll head back to the bar And you can kiss my as.s 'Cause I've got friends in low places Where the whiskey drowns And the beer chases my blues away And I'll be okay I'm not big on social graces Think I'll slip on down to the oasis Oh, I've got friends in low places

Yillara Skye 1 Posted December 23, 2004 (edited) I love The reason by Hoobastank, when i hear this song i get all mushy and when Hang sings it to me*crumble* 291718[/snapback] I had never heard this song before, until I was playing "Karaoke Revolution" for Playstation2. We had set the last round of competition on Random, and that song popped up. My mom & I sang it and got a good combined score(yeah, the song is sung by guys, but in the game you can sing higher or lower if you need to...all you got to do is try to match the pitch), but we both agreed that it actually was not that bad of a song at all. Probably would not place it in our top ten lists, but not a bad one at all. Yillara Skye 1 Posted December 23, 2004 Another song that I have come to like (courtesy of the game I mentioned earlier...) White Flag by Dido Click For Spoiler I know you think that I shouldn't still love you,Or tell you that. But if I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it where's the sense in that? I promise I'm not trying to make your life harder Or return to where we were I will go down with this ship And I won't put my hands up and surrender There will be no white flag above my door I'm in love and always will be I know I left too much mess and destruction to come back again And I caused nothing but trouble I understand if you can't talk to me again And if you live by the rules of "it's over" then I'm sure that that makes sense I will go down with this ship And I won't put my hands up and surrender There will be no white flag above my door I'm in love and always will be And when we meet Which I'm sure we will All that was there Will be there still I'll let it pass And hold my tongue And you will think That I've moved on.... I will go down with this ship And I won't put my hands up and surrender There will be no white flag above my door I'm in love and always will be I will go down with this ship And I won't put my hands up and surrender There will be no white flag above my door I'm in love and always will be I will go down with this ship And I won't put my hands up and surrender There will be no white flag above my door I'm in love and always will be

Yillara Skye 1 Posted December 24, 2004 On My Own from the musical, Les Miserables. I have always adored this play and especially this song, however it is a song has quite a bit of meaning for me nowadays Click For Spoiler EponineAnd now I'm all alone again Nowhere to turn, no one to go to Without a home without a friend Without a face to say hello to And now the night is near I can make believe he's here Sometimes I walk alone at night When everybody else is sleeping I think of him and I'm happy With the company I'm keeping The city goes to bed And I can live inside my head On my own Pretending he's beside me All alone I walk with him till morning Without him I feel his arms around me And when I lose my way I close my eyes And he has found me In the rain the pavement shines like silver All the lights are misty in the river In the darkness, The trees are full of starlight And all I see is him and me Forever and forever And I know it's only in my mind That I'm talking to myself and not to him And although I know that he is blind Still I say, there's a way for us I love him But when the night is over He is gone The river's just a river Without him The world around me changes The trees are bare and everywhere The streets are full of strangers I love him But every day I'm learning All my life I've only been pretending Without me His world would go on turning A world that's full of happiness That I have never known I love him I love him I love him But only on my own. And Níl Sé Ina Lá (Níl Sé'n Lá) by Clannad I love to dance along with this one! I also plan on learning how to sing it too. Curfá Nach mise féin an fear gan chéill a d'fhág mo chíos in mo scornaigh? D'fhág mé léan orm féin is d'fhág mé séan ar dhaoine eile. Translation I went into a tavern, and the barkeep, doesn't much care for the look of me. I look like I've got no money on me. She tells me to hit the road. I put my hand into my pocket, I asked if she could break a shilling. She said to me "Sit down at the table, you'll be drinking here 'till morning." She roused the man of the house, tells him to get up, put his trousers and hat on, and go out and find a musician to entertain me, so I'll stay here drinking until morning. Was I the man without sense to leave my money when I'd been scorned? I left woefully, I left a sign to other people.

Click For Spoiler Dry your eyes and quietly bear this pain with prideFor heaven shall remember the silent and the brave And promise me they will never see, the fear within our eyes (my eyes are closed) We will give strength to those who still remain So bury fear, for fate draws near And hide the signs of pain With noble acts, the bravest souls Endure the heart's remains Discard regret, that in this debt A better world is made That children of a newer day might remember And avoid our fate (I've waited all day in the pouring rain, but nobody came, no, nobody came) And in the fury of this darkest hour We will be your light You've asked me for my sacrifice And I am Winter born Without denying, a faith is come That I have never known I hear the angels call my name And I am Winter born Hold your head up high-for there is no greater love Think of the faces of the people you defend (you defend) And promise me, they will never see the tears within our eyes (my eyes are closed) Although we are men, with mortal sins, angels never cry So bury fear, for fate draws near And hide the signs of pain With noble acts, the bravest souls Endure the heart's remains Discard regret, that in this debt A better world is made That children of a newer day might remember And avoid our fate And in the fury of this darkest hour We will be your light You've asked me for my sacrifice And I am Winter born Without denying, a faith in God That I have never known I hear the angels call my name And I am Winter born And in the fury of this darkest hour I will be your light A lifetime for this destiny For I am Winter born And in this moment..I will not run It is my place to stand We few shall carry hope Within our bloodied hands (bloodied hands) And in our Dying, we're more alive-than we have ever been I've lived for these few seconds For I am Winter born And in the fury of this darkest hour We will be the light You've asked me for my sacrifice And I am Winter born Without denying, a faith in man That I have never known I hear the angels call my name And I am Winter born Within this moment now I am for you, though better men have failed I will give my life for love For I am Winter born And in my dying I'm more alive, than I have ever been I will make this sacrifice For I am Winter born If you haven't guessed by now, I'm a huge fan of the Crüxshadows. Stephen of Borg 2 Posted April 7, 2008 My favorite song right now is "Waitin' For A Superman". It is a sad song about how even Superman can't help us with everything. The person who wrote this song got the inspiration for it because his dad was dying of cancer. Below is the lyrics and the song, which is a cover of the original song by the Flaming Lips, this version is by Fightstar. I think this version is cool. name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>"> name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"> Asked you a questionI didn't need you to replyIs it gettin' heavy? But they'll realizeIs it gettin' heavy?Well I thought it was already as heavyAs can be Is it overwhelmingTo use a crane to crush a fly? It's a good time for SupermanTo lift the sun into the sky 'Cause it's gettin' heavyWell I thought it was already as heavyAs can be Tell everybodyWaitin' for SupermanThat they should try to hold onBest they canHe hasn't dropped themForgot themOr anythingIt's just too heavy for Superman to lift Is it gettin' heavy?Well I thought it was already as heavy as can be.
