[S]The Big Bang Theory

Recommended Posts

I was thinking the other day about the large explosion in 'The Expanse'. (I assume that is common knowledge by now so I will forego the spoiler alert but if the administrator of this board wishes to put it on I'm perfectly fine with that). Anyway, it made me realize that in almost every season finale or debut since the third season TNG debut there has been a large explosion or explosions. Allow me to demonstrate:

TNG

-The Best of Both Worlds: The Borg cube is blown to pieces

-Redemption: I don't think there are many but there's a war so there must be some.

-Time's Arrow: They cavern in Devidia II is destroyed

-Descent: The new Borg ship is destroyed by a solar flare.

DS9:

-In the Hands of the Prophets: Schoolroom is toast

-The Jem'hadar: Bye, Bye Odyssey

-The Way of the Warrior: Lots of Klingon ships destroyed

-Call to Arms/Time to Stand: the Domnion War begins and stuff blows up

-Tears of the Prophets: The Allies lose Chin'toka and many ships

-What you Leave Behind: End of the war, more explosions

VGR:

-Basics: Tierna blows up and the volcano erupts, not to mention the explosion on the bridge

-Scorpion: So many explosions, Borg, 8472

-Equinox: Equinox gets blown up

-Unimatrix Zero: Destroyed Unimatrix Zero and many Borg ships plus the Delta Flyer

-Endgame: The Borg bite it with plenty of explosions

ENT:

-Shockwave: the Paraagan colony is decimated

-The Expanse: Florida, Cuba, Venezuala, and 7 million reduced to ash by the Xindi

As you can see this does not apply to every season but most seasons like to end or begin with a bang. (I know, that was a bad pun)

Yes, but we have this little rule. It's called the spoiler button.

:::MOD NOTE:::

It's in the preview for the episode, and all over Star Trek.com, and is the primary reason for the episode. There for I as the MOD of this forum do not consider it to ne a spoiler, and if I did I would have edited his post

Are you complaining?

What can I say. I guess there's a little piece of Reed in most of us. There's nothing quite like a good explosion, and ya gotta admit Trek does them really, really well. And yes, the 4th of July is my favorite holiday. :andorian: To bad we don't have a smilie that blows up. LOL

Click for Spoiler:

My new favorite is in The Expanse when they blew Duras up and then sailed thru the pieces of his ship. Cool! Would have liked to have seen it on the big screen.

Hmmm, maybe you should have started a post to ask everyone what their favorite big bang is.

I like the explosions as well, and I agree Trek does do them very well.

All of the best movies have also had some great bangs.

Star Trek II: The USS Relient blowing up from the Genisus torpedoe.

Star Trek III: The Enterprise A's self distruction.

Star Trek VI: The explosion of the Klingon Moon Praxis as well as the distruction of Chang's Bird of Prey (This movie had 2 great explosions which is why it could be considered one of the best movies).

Generations: The bird of Prey, the Enterprise D crashing, the shock wave.

First Contact: The Borg cube.

Insurrection: The explosion of the collector.

Nemesis: The distruction of the schimitar.
