Do You Sail?

Well the passions poll got me to thinking of one of my most favorite things to do in the summer and that is to sail. I have had my own sailboat since I was 8 years old and have been learning to sail since I was 5, where I come from this is a very common thing. I mean people would sell their homes to keep their boats.

 

Sadly because of the Hurricane last fall it doesn't look like I'll have my sailboat back until late in August, so that kind of depressing. Though if my application is accepted I might be able to make a cross atlantic voyage onboard a tallship.

ironically, I can't sail on a sailboat unless it has an engine, I get too seasick :blink: :) I take alot of dramamine.

Nemesis, I hope you pack your dramamine, I hear the Atlantic gets pretty nasty, even for larger ships. I enjoy being out on the ocean, that's why I'm in the Navy, not the Army. I could do the same job I'm trained to do in the Army, but I prefere being at sea.

Nemesis, I hope you pack your dramamine, I hear the Atlantic gets pretty nasty, even for larger ships. I enjoy being out on the ocean, that's why I'm in the Navy, not the Army. I could do the same job I'm trained to do in the Army, but I prefere being at sea.

Seasick? I've never been seasick in my life. Nothing better then the salt air, with a strong wind that makes your boat feel like it's going to keel over (which has happened a lot )

If you leave in August the Altantic Ocean won't be that bad at that time of the year. The Altantic get really naste during the winter months. I served on East Coast for almost 5 years.

I was on a small Katamaran (Hobie-cat) once. What a thrilling experience. I have never forgotten it. Motor boats are annoying with their whiny engines but gliding across the surface of the water with the wind blowing in your face was exhilirating yet very peaceful if that makes sense.

It would be in July, but I don't think I'll be able to go because of my age. They fill up older people first because I'd have more of a chance to do it again then them you see. There is always next year though
