Lightning bugs - aka fireflies

It's been a long time since I've seen one. I remember as a child they used to be out every evening. Of course it's been a while since I was a child. But I remember running and playing with the lightning bugs darting about around us.

I remember that you didn't have to catch them, they'd land on you if you waited. Now I can almost smell the honeysuckle blossoms.

When I was little my grandma used to make blackberries and dumplings (I guess its sort of like blackberry cobbler - only better) I remember her having it in the fridge and it was so good. I wish I knew how she made it.

 

And I remember picking blackberries that grew wild and eating mulberries off the tree as well.

I live in Georgia, and we have tons of fireflies, usually in August (I think).

The only place I ever remember seeing fireflies is on Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland, the little fake ones. I guess they're not real common in the southwest. I'd like to see a real one though.
