  1. I am going to stay home for most of June, then the last week I am going to camp. For the first week of July, I am going the the biannual Independence Day family reunion and then for the rest of July and half of August I am going to France.

  2. Shame about your DVD player. I am blessed with two DVD players (one for the family on the TV and one on my laptop, though the one on my laptop breaks down halfway through the movie nine out of ten times) so I have not had to deal with this problem. Good luck in obtaining a copy. :P

  3. I am actually most awake at night. Strange... maybe my planet goes through its night when Earth goes through its day.

What I meant was that it is difficult to find a race that does not have its conlicts. Like the examples that you provided, there are no races that are not somehow mind-controlled that actually all think alike and never have any power struggles. Klingons have more power conflicts than Romulans! Yet, people look at the Romulans and say that they are the ones whose overnment is corrupt and whose wealthy have it all while the poor have nothing, and everyone lives in fear of the Tal Shiar. What I was saying is that things are not like that everywhere on Romulus. And of course, on Kronos, several these very things are dominant. Also, naturally, Romulans do have their power struggles and their unfair systems. However, I do not remember the last time they had a civil war (besides that thing with the Remans) and everyone knows the last time the Klingons had a civil war. The Romulans know how to overcome their differences and work together, for the good of everyone. Other species, especially Klingons, simply put, do not.

  4. Jour de Bastille celebrations.

Aside from waiter races in downtown DC I've never heard of a city celebrating this. What do they do?

Bastille Day is France's independence day. I am usually in France at that time (July 14) so I celebrate it.

  5. I imagine both of us might have been confused. I do most of my posts either in the morning before school (which ends tomorrow, yes!) starts, when I am not yet awake or in the middle of the night, when I am also not really awake or in the commercials of DS9 when I am focused on the episode.

And of course, great minds do think alike.

  6. To add to that, if the producers of Star Trek show their "nice" sides, it would actually add to the mystery, not take away from it. It adds dilema for the UFP, because they cannot ignore this "nice" side and go on battling them like whatever. And how much scarier is a multi-sided enemy? It is easy if they are outright bad, then bring in something good and it scares everyone. They wonder if it is a trick, if they are genuine, should they offer an alliance, should they blow them up? I actually think it would impriove the series.

  7. I realize that and I am glad you did. (That way I do not have. J/K  ) They might just play a large part in the future of the Empire. I hope not, but who knows. It is just good that the Romulan government is back in Romulan hands.

  8. I believe you misunderstand me. What I meant was that it is hard to find a race that is not disunified in places. Of course, there are races like the Borg, but that does not really count, as they are forced to be like that. Your examples are perfect for my point. I apologize if I was unclear.

  9. Too, too true. We really need to get people like TSonofvulcan in here to read these arguments... you have some really persuasive arguments and they are all based on Trek universe fact. It is no wonder that there are the power struggles and fear of each other that is often shown on Romulus. Their own kind threw then out once before; they can do it again. However, Trek generally only shows the bad side of life on Romulus. They do not show the happy families, the peaceful places on Romulus, the strong friendships. Why do they cast such a light on Romulans constantly?

  10. I am not severely allergic to anything. I am, however, allergic to (are you ready?) fireworks. It is true; I need an inhaler before I go to any Independence Day or Jour de Bastille celebrations. I go to both every summer so...

  11. Thank you, Welfconfed, that was nice! Hmmm, clothes pins... that idea does have its merits. I wonder what people would say if I walked around like that... well, not school, because it has two days left, but maybe at camp... :naughty:

You know, Argelian, when I was watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy, I noticed that they did not do the elf ears nearly as well as Star Trek did the Vulcan and Romulan ears. Maybe if I dyed my hair black... but wait, some of the elves did have black hair. Does anyone know where they sell Romulan uniforms?
