I love how kind and gentle she is. Her ability to empathize with others. I think she’s got a lovely voice.yes, but sometimes too much. She was always so sugary nice, it got annoying at times. It's kind of annoying seeing someone doing right all the time, never doing anything wrong, kind of a goody goody.
I also wonder how it was possible for her to be able to answer everyone's questions when she has like no life experience
Sugary nice? No, I don't think so. She was strong-willed and determined and didn't hesitate to put her foot down if something was wrong. Watch her speech to Toscat in "Caretaker". There were other occasions too.
By the way, this thread is "for Kes-fans only". :P

I don't understand the purpose of making her an admiral.
I mean, she was rather fresh as a captain, at least compared to Picard and many others.
She'd been on a couple of missions as captain before her command at Voyager, none of them that dangerous. Then she accidentally ends up in the Delta Quadrant. OK, she's doing a great job in taking the ship home, no problem there. But making her an admiral just after that? Not believable!
Besides that, I don't think she's the kind of person who would become a desk clerk. She's an explorer and should be out in space, exploring and boldly going where no man (or woman) has gone before.

I can see your point here. The Phage was what made the Vidiians what they were. Hadn't it been for the disease, they would probably have been friendlier.

The only thing I found somewhat unrealistic was that it took Voyager almost two years to pass through their territory. It was too big for a species or nation with so much internal fighting between different sects.
It would have been more realistic if some of the events with the Kazon involved would have taken place with Voyager stranded at "The 37's planet". In this case, the Kazon territory could have been smaller and the scenario more realistic.

Awww....c'mon. Give 'em a chance! Grin.Well............one chance!
Honestly, they were very different from all other species. That's why I find it hard to see them as friends but I see no reason to have them as foes either.

They don't have to be a foe but I find it hard to see them as friends.

I think that Dr. Zimmerman is a good name. It was actually used in some of the Voyager books.

I like the Kazon. They are great villains.
Good villains don't have to have super-powers or be totally invincible. They can just be brutal and arrogant and I do think that the Kazon (and the Cardassians) are good examples of that.
I do see some historical similarities here as well. The Kazon was one of those people who revolted against an opressive and discriminating power which was understandable but everything went wrong from there. Instead of remaining united and create an independent, prospering nation, they started to fight among each other. Still they were strong enough to become a power in that part of the Delta Quadrant. That has happened before in history and I do think that the concept for the Kazon in that aspect is realistic and well-thought.
I always enjoyed the episodes with the Kazon, especially those with Culluh and Seska involved. They were really a beautiful team.

I would say her whole personality.
She is nice, friendly and beautiful, yes. But she's also strong-willed, determined, brave and curious. She has a way to get things the way she wants without fighting and arguing, instead she attacks the problem from another angle and solves the problem that way. With her calm, wit and smartness, she's both a complement and a contrast to more traditional action characters like Janeway, Torres and Seven.
She also personifies the spirit of Star Trek with her will to learn and explore.
She's definitely one of Star Trek's most interesting characters.

My favorite is the Star Trek Voyager book "The Black Shore" by Greg Cox.
That book is so exciting, I remember reading it from beginning to end the first time I read it.
All of the main characters get a share in the action and the villains make The Borg look like well-behaved schoolkids.
A masterpiece!

I vote for Birth Of The Federation. Really great game and even better with the new Ultimate Dominion Mod.
Elite Force was OK but too much of the Voyager season 4-7 scenario for me. I would have preferred to fight the Kazon and the Vidiiians. I would also have liked to have real Voyager characters or one I could name myself instead for that Munro or whatever his name was.
I also remember having some old TNG game once upon a time which was good.
I haven't played any of the other games mentioned here, just read somewhere that there are many bugs in them. Is that true?

Merry Christmas to all Star Trek Voyager fans!

I find the Voyager books better than most episodes.
And who cares about "canon"? That's irrelevant. The torch has been passed over to the authors of the books and the Voyager story continues in the books.

I thought the show got much better after the beginning of season 4. Not only did the cast work together better, but a boring character was replaced with a much better character. After the beginning of season 4, the stories got much better, and the crew seemed so much more comfortable with each other and their own characters. That's not the truth. There were some tensions between Mulgrew and Ryan in the later seasons and some actors felt that their characters were shoved aside when Voyager became a three-character show.
I don't think the stories became better.
And Kes was definitely not boring. She was a great character who should have remained in the series.

Sad news really. She was a great actress and did contribute a lot to Star Trek in her roles as Number One (TOS; The Cage), nurse Chapel (TOS) and Lwaxana Troi (TNG, DS9) as well as the computer voice.
We'll miss you Mrs. Roddenberry!
R.I.P.

I love this picture and have it set as my wallpaper. You should all do the same.I get the impression that Janeway is your favorite among the Voyager crew. Am I correct?
Anyway, excellent work. Great wallpaper!

"Endgame" was horrible. I agree with everything that Lt.Nelson wrote.
"All Good Things" on the other hand was a good end episode. That episode left a good feeling after watching it while "Endgame" only made me annoyed.

^^
"Tattoo" could have been OK if it hadn't been for the insult to the American Indians by labeling them as some descendents to alien visitors.
They should have made the episode different, as if Chakotay and some crew members had been stranded on a planet where the inhabitants way of life reminded Chakotay of his youth but nothing more.
Chakotay's background story was actually interesting and the subplot where Kes altered The Doctor's simulated flu was funny and did save the episode from being a total disaster.

"Jetrel" is a great Neelix episode. I also liked "Fair Trade".
-
The Ocampa (for certain reasons) even if they were badly handled by the writers.
I liked the Kazon as villains. Seska and Culluh were agreat team. I always enjoyed the episodes in which they were involved.
And don't forget the Talaxians! It's impossible not to love a species where they have names such as Neelix, Laxeth, Paxim, Wixiban, Uxxin, Eximar, Vaxi, Alixia and Palaxia, where they have a holiday named Prixin and a musical instrument called Ixxel. Not to mention their fondness for Leola Root!
-
"Tuvix" is one of the best Voyager episodes.
-
The characters!
-
"Non Sequitur" is the best Kim episode.
OK, I know that many fans dislike "Favorite Son" but I think that one is a good one too.
To Kesfans Only-what are your favorite aspects of her?

The nine-year lifespan was a mistake from the beginning. It's highly unrealistic since a species which lives such a short time would never develope to anything more than primates. Not to mention the "one-child syndrome".
It was simply bad writing, just as if the writers thought "hey, we haven't had that before in Star Trek" and when it didn't work (which I guess that they would realize) then they just kept the ball rolling, like "oh, never mind, the viewers won't notice). The lifespan issue was hardly mentioned after season 1, only on some occasions.
The smartest thing to do would have been to prolong her lifespan. There were also hints for such a solution, most notably in "Cold Fire".
