  1. Today, the DOW Jones Industrial Average, long considered one of the big indicators of the American Economy, hit a 2 1/2 year high ov 10,737.7, up 123.87 points. so what does this mean? Well, for one thing, people are making money. if companies make money, they ussually have to produce more of their product. to produce more product, they need more employees.

  2. Ya know, there are only a few people I consider "Close friends" here, I hope none of you take that the wrong way, but we generally AGREE on things. Sarge and I, for example, are the tag-team dominators in the Military topics. ask Nemesis, he's been getting blasted for a couple of nights now. Jaina and I manage to avoid disagreements on religion because I word things carefully.

  3. I pledge Allegience

    to the Flag

of the United States of America

    and to the Republic,

    for which it stands,

    one Nation

    UNDER GOD

    Indivisible,

with Liberty and Justice for all.

    OOH RAH!

Sarge, good show, Buddy! if that isn't a display of patriotism, I don't know what is!

  4. EJP's wife actually served aboard the most recent incarnation of the Enterprise, and was a member of the crew on the morning of 11 September, 2001. the Enterprise CVN-65 turned all about and headed back to the South China Sea.

That's right, Julie was on the Enterprise at the time. all I have to say about the Enterprise, either incarnation, is a qoute from Dr. McCoy in STVI:

My god that's a big ship!

  5. All you really have to do is reconfigure the focul point of the sensor so, instead of opening when someone is within 1 meter, they open when someone is at...say...18 inches. also, the automation can be turned off from the inside. basically it would be a cross between an elevator's doors and those in the super market, just as said with a closer detection range.

  6. I've got to say, just as important as family members getting letters from deployed servicemen...actually, more so, is the servicemen getting letters from their families. "Letters from Home" by John Micheal Montgomery shows this very well. when I was out on the sub, what kept me going was the 40-word Family Grams. they told me what was happening every week. when I was in the gulf almost a year ago, I'd get e-mails from home, and it was the best thing in the world. imagine being in a world where death could come from anywhere. those letters from home are a welcome relief from the everyday grind.

  7. With all due respect in regards to the poem quoted, the soldier gave us none of those rights.  The very rights we so proudly expouse were given to us by our country's founders, very few of whom were soldiers. more.

They could not do such a thing if it wasn't for the brave souls who gave their lives in the American Revolution. so, yes, the Soldier DID give us all of these, because without their sacrifice, there would be no USA.

  8. Yes. at least, I think so. I played High School football for 4 years, as a Linebacker, Defensive End, and Tight End. I know on the HS level, the hitting is intense. now, someone going from playing at Smalltownsville East High School to playing for the New England Patriots is going to experience 2 things. 1, the hitting in the pros is much harder. these guys are faster, stronger, and much bigger than in High School. 2, the season is nearly twice as long. by week 10, your average High School to Pro player would be dead. physically, they'd not be able to get off their couches, and mentally, they wouldn't be able to convince themselves to go forward.
