being a gunnery officer myself, I can attest that those 16 inch guns could have been put to great effect in the latest Iraq war.Hey! does this mean we can call you "Gunney"!!!???

Beta Quadrant:-Major Powers:
--Romulan Star Empire
--Klingon Empire
The United Federation of Planets also extends into teh Beta Quadrant.
Don't forget that the Ferengi inhabit the Beta Quadrant as well. I guess they can be counted as a major power

Nog: "So if I have to take command, I'll be called 'Captain'"?
O'Brien: "Cadet, when you take command there will be no one left to call you anything."
and there's this one about Garak telling Bashir about some communication rod and he tells him to eat it, and Bashir says "You can't be serious" and Garak relies "No, Doctor, I'm not" or something like that!

Cool deal Jim, I think R Lee Ermey (Gunney as they call him at the office! B) ) is awesome and yes I HAVE seen Full Metal Jacket!
Hmmm, let me think of a good one for you...
Here's one:
What were some of RAF aircraft used in WWII?
-
Yeah it's generic, but it's still my favorite!
"Let's make sure that history never forgets, the name, Enterprise"--Picard in "Yesterday's Enterprise"
and one more:
"So you guys are astronauts...one some sort of star trek."-Zephram Cochrane in "First Contact"

I will go...someday. perhaps after I graduate college, but right now it's not doable.
-
1. Always read your assignment before class. take notes.2. Engage in meaningful class participation - this will get you noticed - you'll need letters of recommendations from instructors at some point.
3. When you get to upper level - take an internship or spend a semester working for a professor - get experience and make contacts.
4. Get involved in some extra-curricular activity - volunteer or something. If you're interested in history maybe volunteer at a museum.
Your goal isn't just to get a degree but to get a job afterward. I didn't do the latter two as much as I should have - I don't like networking events but it made finding a job harder. This is advice from the voice of experience.
Perhaps I will take this advice too. I despise extracurricular functions but I may have to do them.
Sometimes Resistance IS Futile or it may not be but you end up making something harder for yourself in the end!
-
Stay focused on your studies and save money!
If you get an advisor meet with them too b/c they'll help you.
And this works for me, but I read through the material 3 days before the exam, then again the next day, and then the next. That usually makes sure it stays in my brain!

Ok, the funniest thing I've seen on DS9 so far is:
Click for Spoiler:
WhenQuark
caught his arm on fire and was dancing around and screaming
.

I voted "YES"
I didn't take down the stats but it was well into the 60% area and the only show on the list with the majority to "Keep"
Chalk up one for Star Trek!
(heck, do that anyway)

then the ship pulled an evasive maneuver so as to not be destroyed by the closing doorI wonder if that Ensign got a commendation for that
-
I think they should have a MACO episode, kind of like a "Lower Decks" thing, just because I always like seeing what else is going on on the ship.
Seeing everything from a MACO perspective could be neat, and since the Major is a MACO he'd get some more lines for that episode.
And since I mentioned Major Hayes that means my whole post is relevent so you have to read it!!

If UPN were smart, they would do the following:Show more Enterprise and guarentee us 7 seasons
-
I have not read any spoilers. I'm going into the final six episodes with no intelligence whatsoever (No I am not saying I'm dumb!! I mean the other intelligence!)
I am however, greatly looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season works out. I know where I'll be wednesday night, but then again I'm, always there anyway!
-
Yeah, I remember them.
In fact, I just saw
"The Jem Hadar"
Friday night and the scene where the runabouts engged the Jem Hadar fighters was awesome. I particularly liked the scene as viewed from the cockpit with the runabout firing on the Jem Hadar ship.
-
I think they showed the Jem Hadar becasue they wanted to show The Search at 9 and 10 so they wanted all three to be seen in sucession since they are all interconnected.
As for them reshowing all those episodes, I'm glad they are becasue missed most of them (including Emissary!! ARRG!!!) so now I have a chance to watch them!
Don't worry, we'll get thorugh them soon enough.
-
I believe they are still a seperate government
-
If you mean what happened to Nausicans having screen time I agree.
I like it when other races are dealt with. I don't like it when they are just there once and then that's all. I like the developement of a culture.
-
I think the Ferengi would find no profit in war. Sure they could conquer a rich species, but that would be a waste of resources. I'd say the Ferengi stay neutral in any conflict (they didn't get involved in the Dominion War on a large scale)
I think they don't take sides but supply both, more profit that way.

Excellent (Mr. Burns Style)
Yes, I did experience some anxiety at the thought of Enterprise being canceled. Then I just turned off my emotion chip and was ok.
-
No, the Federation won't be assimilated by the Borg.
Star Trek is supposed to show the growth of humanity in a positive way. If in the future humans would be assimilated everyone would hate it. The whole series would be looking for other cultures to assimilate.
-
There must be some fear for the Borg on behalf of the Q, since Q told his son not to mess with them. Or it could just be messing with the Borg makes them aware of other cultures to assimilate (Q Who?)
-
I imagine a race of independent people developed cybernetics as enhancements, andit somehow got out of hand. That's pretty general, but everything is speculation.
Sounds like a good explanation. Then when they decided how great (accoding to them of course) it was, they wanted everyone to do it.
However, it it was a small group, don't you think there would hhave been enough resistance to stop them, or it was a whole planet that decided to become Borg. That could provide enough to force the way of life on others.
We'll just have to wait for a future series or movie to explain... :o

Picard & B4 using the Scorpion fighter,I thought it was Data and Picard, but I haven't seen it in awhile so I could be mixed up
Anyway, I find that alot of movies are doing this lately. The two events (preview/low box office) could be connected, at least I hope so. On teh next movie, have a real vague promo and see what happens!
Have you talked to a computer?

I don't recall that ever happening to me but I do talk to my personal PC like in Star Trek!
You know, like "Computer, get me a connection to the Internet"
and I never get an "Unable to comply" back!
