  1. Doesn't everyone bandwagon? I mean it makes for a better discussion to reference comments made earlier in other threads. Some topics are related. I figure that's why the boards are divided into sections. A place to discuss TNG topics, a place to discuss Science and Technology topics, a place for jokes, and so on. I don't understand why someone would resent a section of the board. If the mods feel a thread is inappropriate for the board or in the wrong forum they'll move it or close it. I trust the mods and I don't go from thread to thread whining about how much I don't like a thread or part of the forum. Nor do I point out threads that are inactive just because I want them closed for spite. :( That's just petty. There are threads I just don't understand so I don't post in them. In short I'm all for bandwagoning. Even if it does confuse me sometimes. :)

  2. I've noticed that things do seem to run in cycles. I used to not give much thought to bad things happening in 3s, my aunt and grandmother always told me that people die in 3s but I didn't really notice it. Now though, I do think that there's something to it maybe. It's almost like once in a while someone decides that they need to reshuffle the deck.

Trouble almost seems like the weather, a bad front will roll in and hover over you for a while then when you think it's never going to clear up, the clouds part and you have several days of good. I always try to remind myself that bad times can't last forever. And I eat chocolate, that takes the edge off of trouble real well. :(

  3. Here's a bowl of 'Stew' for the thread. I remember Q trapped the Enterprise D in some sort of grid or net in "Encounter at Farpoint" but I almost recall an episode of the original series where the Enterprise (minus any letters) was also caught in some kind of net. Does anyone remember this episode or is my brain messing with my head. <-- Huh?

  4. I didn't remember the Geordi/Braum half of the episode. I think I might have that part mixed up with the other episode where she visited the Enterprise and turned out to be nothing like Geordi imagined, and she was married too. Poor Geordi. :) I can't remember the title of that episode either. My mind's a big 'Trek Stew'. I've got chunks of episodes and titles and names floating around in there. Who knows what's gonna end up getting mushed together. :)

  5. I'm horrible with connecting the titles of episodes to the actual episode. I suck with titles in general  , but I do remember the "Booby Trap" episode. The Enterprise D finds an ancient (forgot the name of the alien race  ) starship in an asteroid field. While investigating it, they get caught in the same booby trap that caught the alien ship. A good episode of the TNG, IMO. Picard does some fancy flyin' and gets them out in the end, if I remember correctly. :)

  6. One of the Mafia/Resistance guys is in the Sopranos.

Seeing Archer and the aliens try to work with the Mafia was funny. That alien began his rant and then they just shot him. That definitely wasn't something I expected.

It was disturbing to see the Nazis in North America and

    in the White House.

I can't hardly wait to see next week's episode because,

I hope this finally resolves the Temporal Cold War story arc. I was glad to see Silik, I'm very interested to see what his mission is and if Daniels is really dead this time.

  7. I find my system works better when I don't have any instant messaging program installed.  AIM really froze things up.  And since I quit signing in to MSN messenger I don't get disconnected anymore?  Could be something else I guess but that certainly helped.

Too bad about the spyware.

I've noticed the same problem with MSN messenger and AIM. I do use the Yahoo IM a lot and I haven't had any major problems. I've also learned to keep a sharp eye out for any spyware or adware. Reading those end license user agreements are a pain but I was surprised by the garbage they try to pass by you.

  8. I think a better comparison would be the Enterprise vs a Star Destroyer. The Death Star is a space station. Hmm...the Death Star vs Deep Space Nine?

No contest there. Deep Space Nine, nor any starbase would survive since it has no way to avoid the planet-laser of the Deat Star.

As a side note, depending on which Death Star it is, the Enterprise could have a chance. The first Death Star didn't have the capability to target capital ships, and it took a significant amount of time to charge the laser.

The Second Death Star though could fire on ships and charge its laser much faster.

Good point. It also just occured to me that while the Enterprise would probably be unable to target the exhaust port, a shuttlecraft could. And the Enterprise could probably make short work of any fighters sent after the shuttle(s).

  9. Here's a pic of the Death Star. It reminds me of the Dyson Sphere from TNG. It's moon sized so the Enterprise couldn't hurt it I would imagine. I think even DS9 would be tiny compared to it. I remember reading somewhere that it had a crew of about 1,000,000.

  10. My computer desk is a temporary storage area for stuff I haven't found a place for, yet. A little clown doll, a plastic lizard, a lizard pen, a two big gulp cups full of pens, some photos  , two drawings :laugh: , a little glass box with some hair in it :heart::heart: , my wallet sans money, my keys, 2 box cutters, a plastic box with American change  , a plastic box with Canadian change  , a scattering of notes and post-its, several stacks of cd's and cd-roms, a coaster, a glass of tea on a coaster  , a monitor, a mouse(computer species), a printer, and some speakers.

  11. *The camera cuts to Fenriz. He's spinning around in his chair behind the weather desk*

"Wee!!! I bet I can make it all the way around at least 10 times. Somebody count. Huh? On air? Who?" :flowers:

"Ack! Hey folks." Fenriz's head is spinning. He tries to steady himself by holding onto the desk. Trying the look at the camera his eyes follow it as it 'spins' around the news studio.

"Hey hold that camera still man. I'm trying to do a weather report here. Freakin' amateurs." He mutters loud enough for the mike to pick up. "Typical Autumn day here in the Bowels folks. Cool in the AM, warming up as the day progresses. High of um...70 something." Fenriz shuffles the papers on the desk.

"Yep....Nice day. Maybe...." Fenriz looks very uncomfortable. The camera stays on him, he adjusts his tie and looks through his papers again.

"Might be some clouds or something out there. Yep. Possibility of clouds." The camera stays on Fenriz as he begins to sweat.

"Shouldn't we be going to another correspondent now? or a commercial? Guys? Anyone?" :flowers:

  12. You'd think the astronauts would've asked when they were up there.

    "Hello...um...Moon. I'm Neil."

    "S'up Neil."

"Not much. Just taking leaps for mankind, stuff like that."

    "Cool."

    "Hey?"

    "Yea?"

"Do you have a name? Or is calling you 'Moon' cool?"

"Moon's ok. 'Luna' is my actual name but I don't use it that much."

    "Really? Why not?"

"I dunno. Kinda stiff I think. My mother calls me 'Moonpie' or 'Moony' sometimes."

    "Really?"

"Yep. They called me 'Stinky' when I was in school."

    "Why?"

"I used to splash on the AquaVelva. Trying to impress the ladies."

    "Didn't work huh?"

    "No."

"I'm an Olde Spice man myself."

    "Really? Does that stuff work?"

"That and being an astronaut, works like a charm man. Like a charm."

    "Sweet."

  13. I know at work it can really seem like I'm in a rut, real quick. It helps me to take time off if I can. Sometimes if it's possible it also helps to do something at work that's different than my normal job, even if it's only for a few hours. Still, it is work, if they didn't pay me I doubt I'd be there. :flowers:
