Eating some homemade apple crisp (my wife made it)! Delicious!!

It seems a thread about NASCAR is in order. So here it is.
Anyone watch today's race? I saw the beginning, and left at 169 laps, when Mark Martin ~~ Woo Hoo! ~~ was in third place. I took Luke with me to Menards, then to Wal-Mart. The race was over by the time I returned. But it was Greg Biffle, not Martin, who won the race. And what about #24? It seems his car threw a piston, so Gordon finished 30th :: Jaz sheds crocodile tears. LOL! :: and Martin ended up in 7th place.

I'll take serving on a star ship.
Would you rather be serving on DS9 or Enterprise NX-01?

For a real caffeine kick, do you remember "Jolt"? Whoa baby! That stuff gave me serious heartburn! :P

Lately, the TV shows that I most enjoy watching include Enterprise, CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, NASCAR races, college basketball ~~ woo hoo! March Madness is coming! ~~ Without a Trace, Late Nite with David Letterman, and any news program ( local, national, 60 Minutes, etc.). Favorite TV channels would include The History Channel, Spike TV, and Sci Fi. :P

Watching the CBS news. They interviewed the troops returning to nearby Ft. McCoy, Wisconsin. These were soldiers involved with the fuel truck convoy that was ambushed early in the war. One member is missing in action, and believed to be captured. :P

If I had to choose one, I'd go with Batman. He's a brainy sort, necessary to solve the Riddler's clues. And he has some nifty gadgets. I'd love to cruise in the Batmobile, ala the George Barris version, from the TV show. B) His black batsuit is pretty "tight", as well. B) :P

I have an e machines cpu and a Samsung flat screen monitor. I 'm thinking of going back to Best Buy and trade up my cpu for a better one - DVD/CD- ROM, and better graphics card to run PC games. I'm keeping the monitor. Its great! :P

Wow! I was just in Georgia last week. I spent most of the time in Columbus and Ft. Benning. You have a very beautiful state. I enjoyed the scenery between Atlanta and Columbus. I don't know that I'd move there, however. The drivers, IMO, are like maniacs! I had trouble changing lanes or merging with traffic as the other drivers zipped past me on both sides. Yikes! BTW, I picked "in the country". :jem'hadar:

It appears that success breeds success. As much as I didn't want to see "pretty boy" Jeff Gordon win, it seems that he and his crew know how to win. Gotta give him credit. I'm glad that Mark finished in the top 10; sixth , actually. There is still a lot of racing ahead. Woo hoo!

It's lap 162 of the Daytonna 500 as I type this, and #15 Michael Waltrip just pitted. It looks as if his motor blew. Too bad. I was also rooting for #17 Matt Kenseth, but he's out also, due to a motor failure. However, Mark Martin is in 5th place. Woo hoo! Now, back to the race. Where did I put my salsa....? LOL!

 My kind of person. "Can't get enough of that Mountain Dew" < remember the jingle for the cereal Sugar Crisp? That was a fav breakfast food!
I didn't try Pitch Black, but I tried the berry flavor. Tasted like wine!

Hello! I know that there are other Trekkies who also follow NASCAR, such as BakulaBabe. I'm excited to see the racing season begin. And there already is some heated rivaly. The "bump" that Kevin Harvick gave Thursday in one of the Bud races, resulting in a multiple-car crash, created a lot of anger. A couple of interviews, one with Joe Nemechek showed that it did. It sort of reminded me of last year with Brendan Gaughin and my favorite driver, Mark Martin. I am curious to see how that will affect the race tomorrow. Will there be other drivers "gunning" for Harvick, looking for opportunities to exact revenge? Either way, this will be a great race to watch. Now to make sure that I have plenty of snacks and Diet Dew available. Woo Hoo!

:P :P Haha! Very funny , UH!

:P Very nicely done, VBG! I'm impressed!! That Gary Wright song was one of my favs as a teen. I recall a certain quiet evening with my arm around my girl friend listening to "Dream Weaver." Those were some pleasent days, crusing the streets in my "63 Chevy Bel Aire.

Marina Siritis was Demona, a female gargoyle who was Goliath's mate, but despises humans. Also, Johnathan Frakes was Xanatos, who owns the building the Gargoyles castle is on now, he often gets into conflicts with the Gargoyles. Demona and Xanatos formed an uneasy alliance to go after the Gargoyles. That's just a really quick summary of the show, it's really deep, more so than a regular kids show. It flashes back between modern and medieval times.according to imdb.com this are the people and their characters from the show:Jonathan Frakes: David Xanatos/Coyote 4.0
Marina Sirtis: Demona
Michael Dorn: Coldstone and Taurus
Kate Mulgrew: Queen Titana/Anastasia Renard
Nichelle Nicols: Diane Maza
Brent Spiner: Puck
David Warner: Archmage
Paul Winfield: Jeffrey Robbins
Thanks for the info, MrPsychic! Looks as if I will be watching the show more often, as I didn't realize the strong connection to StarTrek. I also enjoy programs or movies with some "depth" to them, as well. :P

I was channel-surfing last night, and came across a cartoon entitled "Gargoyles". Intrigued by medeival "stuff", I watched it. Lo and behold, a character named "Demola" (?) appeared. The voice of whom was none other than Marina Sirtis. I thought it comical that she lent her voice to a rather dark, sinister character. "Sinister" in that "Demola" hates humans - why, I don't know. Anyone else hear this, or her voice elsewhere?

:blush 2: uhhh... it seems that I am mistaken about the price. The team sold for $625 million. Sorry. Also, it appears that Reggie Fowler is the "point man" of a group of investors who purchased the team. If I led you to believe that Mr. Fowler was purchasing the team as sole owner, again, I'm sorry. I guess my enthusiam got ahead of myself. :P
Another interesting note: Anoka County, a part of the Twin Cities metro area, has proposed a football stadium to be built in Blaine, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, dated 15 Feb 2005. The price: $700 million, and is to be a part of a $1.5 billion "commercial complex". It seem that the county would contribute to the cost via a 0.75 percent sales tax. This , to me, sounds similar to what the Green Bay Packers did in order to renovate Lambeau Field. Maybe this will work.

It looks as if Red McCombs has finally found a buyer for the Vikings. Namely, Reggie Fowler, an Arizona businessman, and also an African-American. Should 24 of the 32 team owners vote in favor, this will be the first time that an African-American will be a majority owner of an NFL team. To this I say, its about time!
BTW, the team sold for $650 million!

While in Georgia, I looked at a few Trek books in a bookstore near to my motel. I settled on an audiobook - 3 CDs - entitled "Vulcan's Heart" by Josepha Sherman and Susan Shwartz. I hope to actually listen to them, rather than just look at the cover of the sleeve. Anyone else try an audiobook?
NASCAR Anyone?

No, MP, the drivers really don't have time to relax. Between monitoring the radio chatter from the pit crew chief, and the "spotter" ( who helps the driver find the best line to drive on the track, as well as avoid other cars that crashed), and keeping a close eye on the vehicles around his car ~~ you notice that they drive within inches of each other! ~~ the driver really can't afford to listen to CDs. Besides, the roar of the engine is so loud, that a major "boom box" would be needed, and there really isn't room for one. The weight of the car is critical to maximizing the MPGs, and so only essential items are used. I don't believe that the cars even have AC! :)
