  1. I collected baseball cards from age 8 to 16. I had hundreds and hundreds of season set boxes. Many unopened. I collected quarter-op arcade games. Comic books. Lots of things. Had to part with most of it over the past 5-years. Needed the money.

The only thing I collect anymore are DVDs. I have a small (well, relatively small...about 60) but growing collection of old sci-fi and horror movies. Mostly bargain bin stuff, but that's what I like.

I also used to collect the Micro-Machines Star Trek starships. I had a lot of them, but being that they are so small, I lost most of them in moves, and by giving them away to whichever nephews or nieces (or their friends) who were visiting the house on any given day.

  2. One of my favorite TOS episodes.

I felt terrible for Commodore Decker. In the short time he was on screen, you sort of got the feeling that he was a great commander, almost Kirk-like. But losing his entire crew just snapped his mind. Too bad.

You know, I just noticed that James Blish' adaption of this episode in the novelization is different.

In the adapation by Blish, Decker doesn't die.

  3. 1. APW's Star Trek Site:

This is just a little invision board I created for myself to waste time at and tinker around with ideas for my fan fiction. I basically created the Star Trek Encyclopedia online there, by transferring tons of data from Wikipedia, Memory Alpha, and other Trek boards to my site. It's on-hand as a ready reference for me to use in case I need information for my stories. I have no members and don't really advertise, as it's not a message board.

    2. Star Trek Fans:

I check in here almost daily, and usually post at least once.

    3. Life4Christ:

A friend's Christian message board. I check in every day or so, but don't post as often as I used to.

    4. Sciplex:

My nephew's sci-fi board. It is for him a lot like my trek site is for me. Just a place to gather data on movies he likes and waste some time at.

    5. Blazing Grace:

A Christian message board for people trying to overcome addictions, and for Christians who want to help support, comfort and encourage them on their journey. I'm there for both reasons.

    6. Depression Forums:

Similar to Blazing Grace. Only here the emphasis is for helping people overcome depression or other disorders. Again, I'm there both for support and to encourage.

And that's about the only places I visit regularly.

I just wonder if I should have listed 5 and 6....on the one hand, I'm comfortable enough here now in this community to want to be "real" and let you all know who I am as a person....but I'm a wee bit nervous. I don't want anyone to say,Oh..APW has issues.....let's not talk to the crazy person.

  4. Hated this episode.

At the time I was in love with tasha yar  .

I stopped watching TNG for about a year after this episode. I had read somewhere that Denise Crosby had gotten canned because she wanted a bigger role or something and Roddenberry said no. And since I was

smitten by Yar/Crosby I took her side....for a while, anyway.

  5. I know what you mean about becoming disabled.

My mother was worried about being a burden to her children. As her cancer spread and she could no longer walk, she used to constantly apologize to me because she needed my help to move around the house and to make her doctor's appointments....and I used to tell her to stop it. She wasn't a burden. I can't remember all the times she was there for me when I was sick!

But I understand what she was feeling.

  6. I don't mean to sound like:

    "Haha, you're wrong and stupid"

But although MM does occasionally say stupid things. he is indeed "Evil" and is apart of one of the biggest Left hand path orders. he didn't ask, but was rather asked to join. Mansons hate for Christianity has sparked him to become "Evil"

And he doesn't TRY, he just is, and the way he acts is not "Evil" but rather just showing who he is. You should read some of his philosophy, he's actually a really smart and educated dude.

I never said he was stupid.

I just said he was funny, and tries a bit hard to be scary.....he doesn't scare me.

Like dragonwrangler said, Tupcas Shakur and gangsta rappers are scary. Marilyn is just funny.

As for his being truly evil. Maybe. But he's not as evil as those Kidz Bop commercial kids.....they freak me out.

  7. I was just reading up on the NX-Class at Memory Alpha, and it got me to thinking isn't it a bit odd that Starfleet would retire the class so soon after introducing it, even if upgraded starships were produced like the Daedalus?

The modern Starfleet uses an array of spacecraft, many of which are inferior to those like the Sovereign and Akira. So it makes no sense to me that the NX would be pulled from service in the 2160s...

And I'm also wondering why not just uprate the NX's engines to the standards of the Daedalus?

The NX seemed to be a nice, compact design....so why wouldn't a refit have worked? Were the NX's officially retired in the 2160s, or is it just conjecture? Is there a reliable canon source for the retirement in the 2160's?

Sooo many questions. No good answers.

  8. Yep.

I just watched the latest Inside the NFL on HBO and the guys went over each of 5 questionable plays frame by frame, and when it was all said and done, I really only saw a single call that I would call bad. And that play had no real impact on the course of the game .

So the Steelers won. End of story.

All Seattle's sports writers and Ken Schram are doing is making the city look like a bunch of cry babies.

Still, with the Pittsburgh-Indy game still fresh in my mind, I have to think the NFL is going to make some changes with it's officiating between now and next season (which is, I'm happy to say, only 4 months or so away  ).
