  1. Today I have made an offer on Ebay for a Data box.

there are two differnet boxes, in one there are the following episodes:

The measure of a man, The Offspring, Hero Worship, Descent Parts 1 &2

    in the other one:

The Measure of a man, The Offspring, Brothers, Data's Day, In theory, A fistful of Datas

I have made an offer for the first one, but I'm dubious if it's better to have both of them.

    What do you think?

  2. Picard hands down. He's the captain I grew up with him as the captain. Sisko would be a close second. Picard was a great character. Patrick Stewart is a great actor. Picard could handle the tough situations, he had the respect of the crew, he knew when to get close and when to be distant with his crew and he got how diplomacy and politics works.

I think that Picard is too cold, he is always distant from the crew and he seems to not care particularly about the feelings of other officials.

I had a school director who resembled a lot to him and he criticed always all I made.

  3. The TNG crew re-enacted War Of The Worlds? I've never heard of that!

    Yes, of course, they did!!

1995 Leonard Nimoy, Gates Mc Fadden, Dwight Schutz, Brent Spiner and Wil Weaton, directed by John de Lancie, recorded an audiobook on a cassette of 70 minutes: WAR OF THE WORLDS , adapted from the novel by H. G. Wells. It is a part of a project by L.A. THEATRE WORKS, a 30-year-old non-profit theater and radio production organization. I have discovered this play on Amazon.com.

  4. I actually think that the Berman years of TNG were better episodes than the Roddenberry years

The ratings actually bear this out. The first few seasons of TNG had fair to bad ratings. It wasn't until "Best Of Both Worlds" that TNG really took off.

I agree with this. Berman overstayed his welcome but at one time he was very welcome.

Berman is like Nixon in that he did some very good things but is remembered for the bad things.

Woah, I'm confused... Not by the topic but because Van Roy is actually talking about a topic and adding good things to it...

On topic, I wouldn't buy the book, but I would get it at the library just to read it and see what he has to say about hits, like TNG and DS9, and failures, like Enterprise and Nemesis.

you are fortunate. I live in Italy and all that I know about Star Trek is that I can buy on Amazon or Ebay or at the conventions.

  5. Acually she was/is a play boy bunnie trust me my dad had the mag... Tpol.. yeah shes one too... isnt it funny how the chicks in cat suits are the play boy bunnies

I like Tpol, she is different from Seven, I have made a photo with her in Las Vegas last year.

I didn't think about Playboy, I thought about the abilities of these characters.

  6. I think we're all missing the point...

Star trek is a culmination of one man's dream, much like Data, a dream of a unified community of people with similar minds and goals, to create the peace, not force the peace.

Star trek is much like our own US constitution, it was designed to change, to adapt and serve a new purpose for each succeeding generation that was honored enough to be able to enjoy a new episode bi-weekly in prime time like I was when i was younger.

Star trek, as well as all Scifi, are a reflection of our time, telling present-day stories and conflicted ideals in a new way, a way that will give the dreamers and shapers among us a new way of looking at the problems we face every day.

In TOS it was hippies and klingons, and the enemy of the day was conformity and communism. Look at the themes of the day, it's all there...

In TNG it was Borg and later in season 4+, the various races along the Federation borders with Cardassia, Bajor, and Romulan space. The Enterprise had to play diplomat and policeman for hundreds of worlds in these sectors between DS4 and DS9, does that remind you of anything that the US was doing in the late 80s and early 90s?

In DS9 there was Cardassia and the Dominion, with Bajor playing a major stabilizing role in the show. At the same time as DS9 was going on we were fighting in desert storm and shield, going to war over oil and money, and in general it was the beginning of a very dark time for the USA and it's allies, the same kind of dark atmosphere that spread into DS9's scrypting. I'm not complaining, as it was my favorite of the series, but it did show that the Federation isn't perfect and there's a lot to show for an organization that condemns the usage of agencies like the obsidian order and tal shiar while employing men like Luther Sloan in the beginning.

I could go on but I don't need to...Science Fiction is a reflection of the times we live in, and that may be why Enterprise failed and Nemesis kind of blew goats, because it didn't embody a struggle we're facing today, but just tried to tell a story for the sake of creating more cannon and making a quick buck...unfortunately they were stories that few if any of us could relate to.

    Just my $0.02

it is a very complex intervent.... I think that it is true, the schi-fi is parallel to the real life and histrory, but I think that the fortune of the movies doesn't depend on different point of views, but indeed on the consistency of the plot. Nemesis was the worse Star Trek movie which I have seen, because the scenes were too dark, the atmosphere was under the pression of a dark destiny and at the end Data died!!!!The hero of TNG!!!!

  7. this episode is for me a mistery. Data dreams his father, and he becomes a black raven! In fact, I have tried to understand it, but I cannot. I think however that Data is similar to Van Gogh when he depicts ravens in many forms.

  8. Spiner is an outstanding actor. His versatility is amazing. And yes, he can sing too. Check out the CD that he put out about 15 years or so ago called "Old Yellow Eyes is Back". His TNG Co-Stars did the backup vocals on it.

thank you, I have already bought it 4 years ago, and now it is in my collection of Star Trek souvenirs.

  9. Voyager is done. They got home and the story ended. Whatever happened to them next can be addressed in fan fictions and novels.

OK I am reading a lot of Star Trek books, fast all of TNG, but they deserved however a movie.
