  1. As far as film actors, I would suggest either Laurence Fishburn or Denzel Washington as strong male leads. As a female lead either Kate Winslet or Cate Blanchett. I would love to see really superior well known actors take on Star Trek and move it to an even higher level of excellence.

I saw Lauerence again on his new gig tonight, and he I feel brings a fresh element of compassion, and humanity to the series-not that the others lack it. Those are crucial aspects for any st leader. And, absolutely, having a major star somday would be HUGE for st...but I think those soon to hit the cinema will do fine.

  2. Jodie Foster

I think Jodie could play a deep-thinking, cerebral, intense leader, with a complex past to deal with...and the more complex, the better, right? It really could be intriguing, that I think of it, to yes, and it may have echoes of Clarice Starling, but have her find a villain who shares some very personal past-and such a villain to contend with would be the hardest challenge. RE my bud Damar, Angelina could effect the action-intense element....Hey, I was also thinking, I would be curious to see, gang, all of you posting here, if you can come up with a NAME for said hero-heroine, that you suggect-if you would so care to.

  3. Some more names kicking about in my head, maybe...Russell Crowe...Ben Browder-he effects the rakish wit a Kirk has...Richard Dean Andeson, maybe, heck, he seems to be a trekfan, so props for that, too..

  4. I remember Kevin Newman who did a short stint as host of Good Morning America was a trekkie (I don't know what happened to him - I think he has gone back to Canada)

And, I don't see Richard Dean Anderson on the list, Anderson, star and executive producer of Stargate SG1, thinks it would be cool for the SG1 team to go to another world and find an "away team" on the planet. :whistling:

I would like to see that kind of crossover event! Wild! Afriend of mine had said something to me about just that sort of scenario!I still recall that line of Jack's(Richard really made thecharacter, with his wit) when the Prometheus was about to be launched...''Sir'' Carter says, ''we can't name it the Enterprise''......

  5. Thomas Kopache...guest on Voyager's '' tHE tHAW'' and the first 'Sphere Builder' alien encountered as a 'test subject' in our universe, on Enterprise, plays a surgeon in an ep of ER....co-starrring non-trek, but famed ER vets, George Clooney, Eriq LaSalle, Julianna Margulies, and Noah Wylie.

  6. Especially the last two. Frank has that particular voice....be interesting to see Marc create another dark character-but Dukat-almost-almost, reformed..but, like Al Pacino...""They pulled me back in''....Hoo-hah! Gotta say, trek vet vill Malcolm McDowell could still do the badguy thing...but in prosthesis-or with dark hair!

  7. In the same vein as my thread ''Hollywood Captain'', why not one which poses the question, ''Who would you love to see play the adversary of a next-captain?'' There are some actors on both screens who could well do the job. What's your take? One off the top of my head is Gary Oldman...

  8. Whaaat? You are kidding me!Tha is so wild! Huh. Biddyibiddybiddy...that was a while back. Amazing happenstance I spoke as I did. And, yes, Morgan was one I mentioned previosly, as well. Nice goin' there, 'ol pal!

Oh, man. I don't know how I missed Freeman in your previous post. I'll throw another name at you for a potential captain. How about Richard Hatch. He seemed very good in BSG. How do you think he would be in Trek??

Sure! By the way, he's in a new film, I believe written by Walter Koenig-and co-starring several sf vets, including Richard ''Owen Paris'' Herd. Go to Walter's site for details. Richard had previously tried to come out with a BSG sequel series-to co-star his onscreen buddy Dirk ''Starbuck'' Benedict, but it did not pan out, unfortunately.

  9. I was just rereading a bit in a recent ish of Star Trek Magazine that, in the latest st novels(the 'Destiny' series) that a vessel known as the Aventine has been mentioned-one posessing slipstream technology!Great! It may not be canon-but it shows a choice to open up new avenues of exploration, that are unprecedented. Perhaps, indeed, any oneday late 24th or beyond series would take that eh, quantum leap ahead, tech-wise...said ship is to be featured in the aforementioned ''Ships of the Line '09'' calendar.

  10. Whaaat? You are kidding me!Tha is so wild! Huh. Biddyibiddybiddy...that was a while back. Amazing happenstance I spoke as I did. And, yes, Morgan was one I mentioned previosly, as well. Nice goin' there, 'ol pal!

  11. Glad to see the Bond franchise get down to an out-and-out serious version...though am not into it as I am Trek. I think I would add Dennis Haysbert-again, a ''24'' vet to my list. He played a strong, and very likeable man there-right before we elected our first African-American CIC. And, for those who have seen it, he also is a fine leader in the CBS series(to me, very realisitc) ''The Unit''.

  12. Yep. Least they came up with an interesting ship to carry it. Gene Roddenberry was adamant in TNG, that the Federation not have it, for the simple reason, that they'd start running out of stories to tell, if Starfleet could cover so much territory so comparatively more quickly. Anybody got the last Ships of the Line calendar? There is ''Around the quadrant in Eighty Days'' with, what, just such a vessel-and at any rate, a cool-looking one.
