As the worst earthquake in just over 40 years hits an unaware part of the world, tens of thousands of holiday makers are trapped - and killed.

The official death toll now stands at just over 26,000, including a 6-month old baby girl, who was swept from her fathers saving arms by surgin water in Phuket (Taihland).

The earthquake measured 8.9 on the richter scale and the death toll is set to rise to almost double by the end of the week - with even more due to plague, fammine and disease.

  3. "after-shocks" of the tsunami were felt along Western Australia's coast line, as far away as ~450km. Cars in Bunbury are usually parked 3-4m from the waters edge, people i know went for a walk - 20 mins later, the car's tyres were submerged by risen water.

  4. well for the time being, the episodes will be broadcast on a narrow band caster .. basicly meaning that only people within a 40km radius of the transmitter can receive the station.

    HOWEVER...

I am trying to get funding from anywhere to set up the first TV station without a analogue signal - we'll only broadcast in HDTV and DTV.

    exciting stuff...

According to the top level programming co-ordinator at the nine network, Star Trek: Enterprise will not be returning until January - taking the timeslot of Star Trek: Voyager (with only several episodes left in season 7).

In a related story, rumours have leaked that a small West Australian owned production company is competing for the rights to the Enterprise series.
