  1. I voted for Damar. He was my fave character from DS9 . Damar started out as 1) a navigator aboard the Cardassian freighter Gruemoll 2)became a rebel fighting alongside Dukat against the Klingons 3)He then became adjutant to Dukat after Cardassia joined the Dominion 4)he was a Legate and Political leader of Cardassia 5) He rebuked Dominon control of Cardassia 6) Became the leader of the Cardassian Liberation Front 7) died a martyr on Cardassia fighting the Dominion occupation of his homeworld. There are so many more things to list about this fascinating character, but i just wanted to mention the main points.

Legate Corat Damar went full circle as a character. How many other characters can honestly be mentioned in that category? I think his best moment came during the twilight of the Dominon War when he pleaded before a Cardassian crowd the following diatribe: "Citizens of Cardassia, hear me! The Dominion told you that the rebellion has been crushed, what you have seen here today proves that that is yet another lie. Our fight for freedom continues, but it will take place here in the streets. I call on Cardassians everywhere to rise up,rise up and join me! I need you to be my army.If we stand together, nothing can oppose us. Freedom is ours for the taking!":tribble:

  2. A wonderful episode with a contemporary tie-in to world events. It is definitely on of DS9's best shows!

It was the best DS9 show of season 7 in my book.

IMO I rate it as #2 best of season 7. It was close ,but i think that "What you leave behind" edges "Seige" just barely. Both eps are great though and both stories are very intense and poignant.

  3. As for the absence of Chekov, that was due to Koenig's refusal to do the series. As usual, he felt that he was the star of the show and should be paid as such........ :tribble:

I'm fully aware of that, but what I'm asking is, given the rationale I've put forth, could the lack of Chekhov be said to be a major obstacle for TAS or not?

I don't think it was a major obstacle. The best season of TOS was the first season which didn't include Chekov. He didn't come in until season 2. I didn't miss him at all in TAS.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

  4. but he wouldn't follow starfleet protocals. think about it. if seska stayed on voyager, and janeway was killed off somehow, he wouldn't hesitate for one moment the trade technology to get back to the alpha quadrant. but if janeway had stayed, you know he would followed orders to the letter and made sure it stayed that way.

I think that is why Chakotay would've been a better captain. He would'nt be hindered by Starfleet "principles". He would have a plan of action and stick to it until his objective was accomplished. The question being asked is not about who is better at playing by the rules. Rather, it asks if Chakotay would be better than Janeway. Considering his background and history, I feel Chakotay would be a better captain if allowed to do what was necessary to get his crew home.

  5. Marlena Moreau is and will always be my fave TOS character. :blush 2:

Check out the New Voyages episode "In Harms Way". The actress that played Marlena Moreau is in it.

I will. Thanks for letting me know about that.

  6. Chakotay was great in his role as XO. He combined Starfleet training with Maquis resourcefulness. HOwever, considering that Voyager was in a hostile unknown part of space, I would choose someone not on the list. My choice would be Major Hayes. Hayes was trained in military combat and he has the experience necessary to take command should the situation arise. :elephant::laugh:

  7. well not really. i mean to me reed was the type of character that has secrets that he would want to keep a secret. but to make him an agent of section 31 was something done a bit too early, probably best if they saved the plot for season five, but they had to go all out for episodes during the series finale. however, reed is the type of man who enjoys secrets....and to get things done when he's ordered to. kinda reminds me of bashir just a bit.

Yeah. I never considered a parallel between the two. Thanks for pointing that out.

  8. I liked it. The MACOs were super cool. They only suffered 3 fatalities during season 3: Major Hayes,Cpl.Hawkins, and Pvt.Forbes. They were instrumental in bringing an end to the Xindi's Superweapon and it was just awesome to see an elite tactical unit stationed aboard a Starfleet vessel.
