  1. I do believe that if ENT gets cancelled, it may work out for the best. One of the reasons the franchise is losing money is becuase it's stale. Too much content in a small amount of time, and people are bored with it now. I'm not speaking for myself or any member of this board, im talking about the general public. Sad to say, the networks are more worried about money than fans nowadays. Thats why Trek needs a little break. A new movie anytime soon would doom the franchise to extinction. And I, personally, wouldn't mind waiting a few years then BAM something totally new and origional. Just my 2 cents..

  2. to a certain extent. hell if i was a lifetime away from home, some protocols have to be bent or broken. like the whole sex thing. well...yeah. sex is what makes us human, so to deny it would be catholic :)

no disrepect, just being funny so please don't take offense

  3. New to the boards, yes.  New to Star Trek, no...and I'd have to say the Doc was the best.  We had a good doc in Bones, then two crap docs, but no one beats the Doc.  I mean, come on...watch "Workforce" and tell me he does't f'ing rule.

yep gonna have to go with Q on this one. He's one of the best characters in terms of development any series has seen...and I know..before i get yelled at "not better than Data" imo, yes. Much better than Data. Anyway, he's the obvious choice. and if you don't see it my way, then.... :P

    heh

  4. It wouldn't really be considered a ripoff. The every series shares a small bit of continuity, as in this wasn't just a random series (i.e. Enterprise). Everything that had happened in the timeline up to this point was still incoroprated into the plotline, in one way or another. Plus every ship in Starfleet has the same regulations and protocols, so they would behave in the same manner. I don't really know where else i'm going with this, (lol) so i'll let it be :)

  5. The one reason why most people didn't like Voyager is because the first 2 seasons were fairly slow. Not a lot happened, it was all a little bland. But after "Scorpion", the series took off. Seasons 4-7 were absolutely amazing as a stand-alone series. That's what sets it apart. They aren't close to the Federation, and there was a much broader spectrum in which to devise plot and character development. If you watched it religiously, like myself, you would notice the connection between the characters is better than any series in the past, minus the TOS crew, which is pretty evenly matched. That one ship is all they had, and it was their home and they were a family, working together toward a common goal. To some Trek fans this seems like a boring addition to the universe, and to each their own. I personally think Voyager exceeds TNG and DS9 in terms of plot and character development. So if you are thinking about getting the seasons on DVD, you may want to wait until season 3 comes out and start there. Then if you enjoy it, go back and pick up the others.

  6. I voted "Endgame" was an excellent ending.

If we ever do see a VOY movie, I most certainly hope it's not a pointless "homecoming" story.

For it to be a homecoming story they would have to go backwards in time and they never do that from one film to the next…

Between any onscreen adventures, the characters always have the same passage of real-time as has passed for us. Meaning, if 4 (or however many) years since we last saw them has passed for us then 4 (or however many) years has also passed for them. Any new VOY created for the either the big or small screens would also include this passage of time for the characters imo.

This is why I consider some novels to be personal canon, any VOY stories written since ENDGAME (with 99% probability) will NEVER be contradicted on screen because the characters in any new onscreen adventure would exist in the "now" not in the "then". See? This formula has worked for all of the series for decades.

I'm not saying use those books persay. I agree that most novels wouldn't work as movies. I'm just saying it would be nice to see what happened, however it is chosen to be portrayed.

  7. I don't think a theatrical film with the Voyager cast would do well. The general public has demonstrated good Trek movies = poor box office performances. A tv movie would be much more logical, were anything to happen. Just a couple of hours showing you the welcoming and so-forth...much more suitable, imo.

  8. I think it's a little better that way, to not see what happens next. Made me want to read the "Homecoming" books when they came out, written by Christie Golden. Those books explained the next few months perfectly. Pick them up if you want a bit of closure...you won't be disappointed.

  9. Here's a thought: With Janeway's promotion to Admiral and assignment at Starfleet Command, if Chakotay remained in Starfleet and Voyager remains in service, do you think he'd be promoted to Captain of Voyager?

I don't see why not. I'm sure there would be some red tape, considering his affiliation with the Maquis, but he has become a superb officer.
