  1. Am I the only one who finds the locking of an entire forum without just cause a bit ridiculous?

I would publicially ask VaBeachguy to have a long talk with Mr "Alterego" about enacting Big Brother tactics like a dictator. Nothing happened in Kronos to warrent the forum being locked...

Christians who use censorship tactics to limit freedom of discourse is exactly what happened to Galileo and now its happening here on a webpage in the early part of the 21st century and it isn't right.

By blocking debate of the topics at hand, Christians are simply confirming the worst suspicions the rest of us have about them.

  2. In my mind, he's already played the role of a Captain in Star Trek. Everyone forgets that Andromeda was creatd by Gene Roddenberry and that the show is essentially set in the extreme far future (more then 3,000 years as I understand it) when the Federation is pretty much ancient history.

That connection is never blatantly made, but it seems obvious to me. The Andromeda itself is certainly more formidable then a dozen Galaxy-class starships, just check out its size at www.merzo.net...it's more then twice the length of a Klingon battleship.

  3. I should mention that there WAS another console that was released in the early Nineties.

It was called the SNK Neo-Geo.

Years ahead of its time and it failed, but it was still revolutionary at the time of its release.

    Neo-Geo

It failed because of the cost. Back in 1992 a Neo Geo was $500.00 and the individual games were $125.00. Who, back in 1992, would pay $625.00 just to get Samarai Showdown?

    Well....I guess I would've if I'd had it...

  4. If anyone wants to become a monk or nun, then go check out Vocation Placement. Just thought someone might be interested and not know the links... So, here yah go... I sent them an email about volunteering my internet talents. I am also thinking about becoming a monk later in life... Just so everyone knows, it is a big decision and should not be taking lightly. Also, you dont NEED to be a roman catholic to become a monk, and, contrary to popular belief, you don't need to take a vow of Celibacy...

I was actually inducted into a Buddhist monistary here in Stockton several years ago and served as a monk for 10 days, just for the experiance. It was facinating and I wish I could have done it longer but I had to get back to my "real" life.

  5. So far I'm kinda lukewarm about Firefly. I like the black chick that was in Cleopatra 2525, but I find it hard to get past that lousy opening credit sequence with the country music. Maybe I'll change my mind after a couple more episodes. I like Joss Wheadon's work (loved Buffy and Alien Resurrection).

In the last episode of Galactica the President escaped custody with the help of Lee (Apollo) Adama and Commander Adama has now arisen from his coma.

    The plot(s) thicken.

  6. Years ago (I think it was in 1983) I had a system called a Vectrex which had graphics identical to the old Atari Asteroids as it was in the arcades. I had like six or seven games for it. I really loved it as a kid. Does anyone remember that system? It came with its own monitor and it was totally self-contained so you didn't plug it into a television. The cartriges fit into the side.

Currently I'm very much enjoying my PS2.

  7. I must say that I really enjoyed Trekkies and the sequal. I think what really made it for me was that it was hosted by Denise Crosby, who obviously shares a passion for Star Trek that is the equal of any die-hard fan. I really enjoyed the anecdotes, especially the one from James Doohan about the woman who was considering suicide, and later got her degree in Engineering.

I thought that was an amazing story.

  8. why bad?

    *Ahem*

Well...hmmm....."where to begin?" Well for starters it is ridiculous that Diana decided to leave Worf and stay with Riker. It had already been established very clearly that Riker and Diana were through and that Diana was moving on. For her to suddenly leave Worf and then run back to Riker is just ridiculous. She needs a councellor if she's that co-dependent.

Data's death was total bathos. It was obviously ripped off of Star Trek II, and just like Star Trek II the Captain had to bare witness to his last words. This time, however...I just felt nausia.

The so-called "Sovereign Class" starship is suppose to be the best Star Fleet has ever built, yet here it just looks to be no different then any other Star Fleet vessal with the same leaking shields and the same weapons that are just as ineffective as they always are against adversaries.

I found Shinzon as a villian rather third-rate. He's no Khan or Borg-Queen...not even close. Frankly I was really hoping that the last Star Trek film would be something more thoughtful (like ST: The Motion Picture or ST4) rather then a generic space opera that would even make Lucas giggle.

Oh and one more thing...Picard in a friggin dune buggy...????

I could go on but I think the point is made.

  9. I'm not too hot for a DS-9 film...but why not a "Sisko" film? I'd like to see Sisko leave DS-9 and get himself a ship (Sovereign class, perhaps...?) and then go out into the Gamma Quadrant and do some exploring.

He could take Worf as his "Number One"(XO), he could have Kira as head of security, Nog on the helm, "The Doctor" as The Doctor, and Seven of Nine could be his science officer. Admiral Janeway could be his boss, and Ensign Kim could be the Transporter Chief...and still an Ensign after all these years. :msn-wink:

    What-do-ya-think...???

  10. Klingon Bird of Prey from Star Trek (B'Rel class, not that stupid K'Vort Class)

    X-wing from Star Wars...

and my all time favorite that isn't on the list and SHOULD be....

    battleship.gif

A few of you may recognise that....Yes, that IS an Iowa Class Battleship. If ya ask me, there ain't a more beautiful ship anywhere in Fact or Fiction.

Well I would have to agreee...of course I actually served aboard the USS IOWA as a gunnermate, so I'm just a bit biased.
