1. I just never found the cast of DS9 very interesting, except for Quark and Sisco. Adding Worf was a great idea. If only they could have killed off that damned annoying Doctor Bashir...I found him as annoying as Wesley on TNG.

Once Worf joined it enabled them to do a lot of Klingon-related stories which are always fun. I was always surprised that Worf married Dax rather then Kira...Worf and Kira would have made the perfect couple. Ya think...???

By the time DS9 started I had completely adapted to the new style Trek (minus Roddenberry) and was feverishly anticipating great things from it and I was not disappointed; I loved it  right from the start and throughout its run, the Dominion war and Worfs joining were just icing on the cake.

If you really liked DS9 that much you should try watching Babylon-5. Same premise with twice the plot and none of the salt or fat. :(

  2. Some people think Dr. Crusher is better looking YUK. She totally turned me off. I also was attracted to Troi. Even in the early episodes. She has a perfect figure. The only time she looked bad was in First Contact. She looked tired.

Hey...you'd look tired too after pulling an alnight bender with Zephram Cochran. :(

  3. Some of you know that to celebrate the release of the first Star Trek Titan novel, a contest was held for artists to design what the Luna Class ship Titan would look like. Well folks, it has been decided and a winner has been chosen. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the U.S.S. Titan

Sorry to seem negative, but I hate it. It looks too much like a cross between Voyager and the Reliant from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

They should have nnamed it the USS Titanic. B) :( :) :)

  4. Nope.

I don't like the new Battlestar series on the Scifi Channel.I watched the entire first season, just to give the show a chance to grow on me...and except for a few interesting characters nothing else worked for me. So I decided to stop watching it.

I don't suppose your dislike of the show has anything to do with the Cylons being Christians...does it?

  5. Not really, i hated the show, found it boring. I do suppose most people on this site like it, so don't think that just i hate it everyone does. Also, last time i talked to VBG (this is just a "rumour") he said something about smallvillefans.net.. but i dunno whats going on with that.

Some people just have no taste at all... :frusty:

  6. To really understand the meaning of "Ignorance is bliss" one need look no further then the character Cypher from The Matrix. Cypher would rather live in the Matrix (the lie) rather then in the real world because he is a selfish person who would rather have a comfortable illusion then an uncomfortable reality, what Morpheus called the deasert of the real.

This is my contention with Theists. It has been my observation that most Christians, Muslims and Hindus if they could know- for certain if God exists...would rather be kept in the dark. Like USSAcclaim, for them life without a deity becomes meaningless...an erroneous view up one side and down the other.

  7. I would say that the worst disaster in American history is probably our arrival here in the first place since between 1607 (Jamestown) and 1900 it resulted in the deaths of some 6,000,000 Native-Americans and the enslavement of more then 40,000,000 Africans.

Our involvement in World War 2 is often overstated given that our loses were slight (325,000 killed) compared to the other major powers. Soviet Russia lost 20 million men fighting the Germans and the British lost more then 1 million. That means that for every one of our guys who got killed, the Russians list 60!

  8. I thought the idea to do a second pilot was Genes, the Network rejected the first as "too cerebral", Gene pitched an idea for another pilot and they (network) gave the green light leading to them buying the series based on the second, WNMHGB. Anyway if there had not been a second pilot we might not have any Trek except for The Cage. As far as the question which Captain was better; Brooding Pike or bouncy Kirk I choose Kirk. We later got brooding in the from of Sisko.

In the special features for Star Trek: TOS Season 1 we find out the Jeffry Hunter left Star Trek because of his controlling wife, who felt that he was a "Movie Star" and that television was for second-raters.

Ironically, Jeffry Hunter could have never predicted that he would be best known for a failed pilot of a cancelled television show. :dude:

  9. I still cry every time I see Data get blown away.

    Was it a good idea?

    I don't think so.

    I hated the idea

    353625

I really don't mind anyone getting killed if it serves the story. The problem is that Data's death invites obvious comparisons to Spock in Star Trek II, and clearly the way Data's death was handled didn't really work in my opinion.

  10. I wonder who are more powerful? The Q,The Bajoran Prophets,or the Organians?

    80366

I would guess the Q. The Organians, like the Metrons, seem to be very advanced beings capable of stopping a starship at will and folding space/time...but not to the same extent as the Q. While the Q are not omnipotent, they are near-omnipotent.

  13. Forgive me if this has already been answered, but I'm mainly a fan of TNG. and havnt watched an episode of Voyager in some time

anyway, did he deserve a name to be called by?

And what would you have called him?

    350685

Even a dog deserves a name. I'd have probably named him Reed. I could see him as "Dr. Reed". It fits.

  14. How do you think The Next Generation is aging? When you watch Seasons 1 and 2 what elements make you think it looks old? Overall, the look is still somewhat timeless. The pastel shades and odd use of red lcds does let it down at times. Also, whereas we now have lots of chrome, for a contemporary feel, the white plastics of the late 80s and early 90s have a cheaper feel. I think DS9 will age the least. Voyager may become a little dated when chrome goes out of fashion again.

    33640

I think that TNG has actually aged rather badly. The screen savers on the Enterprise-D aren't even as good as what we had back in the late 90's, and the tan/earthtone look is just aweful in my opinion. I like the bridge of Voyager or the Enterprise 1701A much much better. They both have a much more military feel and also they seem actually functional. By contrast the bridge of the Next Gen Enterprise looks like what it is- a set on a Paramount backlot. Also the music in the first two seasons is wayyyyy too syripy for my taste.

Then there's the obvious question: how can it be the 24th century and there still isn't a cure for friggin baldness???? :(

  15. I can't remember the name of the episode, but the one where the guy had that creature inside him which was controlling his mind. Actually now that I think of it he had several of them inside him, and Picard + Worf blasted him at the end with phasers in a disgusting explosion of goop.

Reminded me alot of "Alien". :(

  16. Now this is a fun and well thought out question!

I would hate the Betazoid. I have too vivid an imagination to be with someone who could read my mind.

    7040

What would make me crazy is if the Betazoid was a beautiful woman. I'd forever be having thoughts about her which she'd always know about and I think it would make her very uncomfortable if she wasn't interested.

  17. According to Contact Music, STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION actor LeVar Burton ('Geordi LaForge') has begged Paramount Pictures execs never to make another new STAR TREK show and allow the franchise to rest in peace.

Burton hopes the last series of STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE, from 2001, will be the very last.

"STAR TREK coming to an end is long overdue." Burton said "They ran it into the ground and made so much STAR TREK that it ceased to be special. If they bring this back before a decade is out I will get a high-powered weapon and start picking off studio executives."

I really can't believe this guy. I, for one, don't want Trek to end. What a sad thing that would be

    344128

Honestly I have to agree. Star Trek was run into the ground by greedy executies, mainly Rick Berman, who just wanted to keep the cash machine going until there was nothing left.

Like Flash Gordon , James Bond and Tarzan, I think Star Trek has more then had its day in the sun. I say let it die with dignity.
