  1. I think Trip needs to bring in an episode of SG1 for movienight

Oh, here's an idea... How about Trip tries to convince T'Pol to watch some episodes of Stargate SG-1? Would make for some nice humor durring an episode.

I also think that would be a great idea.

I've often wondered why there aren't any references to STAR WARS, STARGATE and other scifi greats within Trek. (Let's not forget the wonderful FARSCAPE) After all, these things ARE in "our/their past" and all of the Treks are supposed to be in "our future". It would stand to reason since these movies and TV series are such a part of our culture that they would continue to be mentioned and in the future.

  2. I find it interesting that nobody voted Regeneration, except me

Is there any particular reason, or was it just not "good" enough?

    The Borg are overdone.

I also take issue in the lack of medical security and security in general on the part of the researchers in the Artic Circle and Phlox on Enterprise.

However the episode did make a nice continuity link with TNG and "First Contact".

  3. This was a difficult one. I couldn't limit it to just five for the two seasons. I had to list five per season and that was difficult.

Here they are in no particular order:

    SEASON 1

    Broken Bow

    Shuttlepod One

    Civilization

    Andorian Incident

    Shadows of P’Jem

    SEASON 2

    Dead Stop

    First Flight

    Expanse

    Future Tense

    Cease fire

  4. I agree thayln. I also voted NO.

Keep Capt. Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula).

I vote an emphatic NO.  Scott is a wonderful actor.  I'm thrilled that I get to watch him work in the Star Trek universe.

I like that he doesn't play Archer as the perfect hero.  The first human Captain to explore the Universe wouldn't have the assurance and the knowledge of other species that the later Captains have.  He has flaws, and he struggles with them, but he also has the seeds of greatness; intelligence, bravery, curiosity, and an almost obsessive sense of responsibilty, and dare I say, love for his crew.  He is also now carrying the weight of the world (his words) on his sholders.  His trial by fire is at hand.

Jonathan Archer isn't yet the Captain that he will become, but I'm loving the hell out of watching him get there.

Scott is a wonderful actor--I think the writers haven't given him enough to really get a feel for his character. I think now we will see some strength and fire in Archer, beginning with the Enterprise's journey into the Expanse. In my opinion, in the previous 2 seasons, Archer had this underlying fear of failing Starfleet, his father, himself. He consequently feared proving Vulcans right and Starfleet being forced to recall him and the Enterprise because of his failures. I think we will see Archer and therefore Starfleet gain more respect from the Vulcans (and probably other species) by traversing the Delphi Expanse to the Xindi homeworld and coming through it relatively unscathed.

Something that will aid in the development of Archer's character (and the other characters as well) is the manner in which he deals with the death of a crew member. We saw a touch of how he dealt with death in Cogenitor, but no member of the crew has been lost thus far. I don't like killing off crewmen (there are only 83, so you can't kill a red shirt/red stripe every week), but death unfortunately is a fact of life in the service.

I would also like to see a bit more humor in Archer. Everyone has some sence of humor whethe it be dry, subtle or warped (pun intended). That too would add some dimension to the character. All the other captains had a sense of humor; Archer needs one too.

  5. What about the Henry Archer? After all, he designed the warp 5 engine and this will be another warp 5 ship.

I like Columbia, not only for tribute to the lost crew, because it was the first space shuttle orbiter and the oldest still in service at the time of the tragedy (space shuttle Enterprise was a prototype and was never launched into orbit).

I don't like the idea of the Phoenix. There can only be one Phoenix in my opinion and that's Cochrane's ship!

  6. I don't think ENT is mediocre - I think it is above average in production quality most of the time; but it does have some real issues.

What I like most are Trip, Malcolm, Phlox and Archer (now that he's stopped whining).

I loved the episode Civilization and would like to see more one shot visits to planets.  Riann was the best female character this series has produced.  They could use more of that.

I loved Cease Fire because it was an all round good episode and because Trip got to be smart, not goofy.

    I totally agree with you.

Civilization was one of my favorite episodes also!

I like the Andorian episodes and want to see more along the arc of the formation of the UFP.

I also like the Temporal Cold War arc and want to see more of it--but not to the point B & B carried the Dominion War in DS9. That was a bit much.

I love Trip. Being a Southerner my self, he has a special place in my heart. (I also love Bones in TOS.) Besides, Connor Trinneer is one of the best actors on the show, along with Billingsley. Those two carry many an episode.

Archer has made some improvements this season and is a bit less cardboard. I still want to see the character strenghtened and become more 3 dimensional.

What I like most about the series is that we are taken back to the original, underlying aspect of Starfleet--EXPLORATION--and the excitement/wonder of "exploring strange new worlds...seeking out new life and new civilizations...boldly going where no one has gone before!"

  7. Thanks VBG. I've followed NASA since the Mercury and maybe even before. If the astronaut program hadn't been such a military test pilot boys' club, you'd probably would have seen me as one of the shuttle astronauts. I still have the dream of one day flying in that "Final Frontier".

  8. You didn't have an ALL OF THE ABOVE button !!!

I would love to see ALL of this tech become reality.

I guess if I HAD to choose--it would have to be a phaser!

    Transporters--

travel is so boring, especially by car and I hate air travel !

This is actually becoming a reality. An Australian research team has successfully transported a laser beam. (It was one of the features on Startrek.com last year.)

    Replicators--

I don't like to cook or have the time, so to be able to tell machine I want Chicken Marsalla (or anything else) and it would be prepared for me would be great!

    Holodecks--

those would be sooo much fun.

    Hypo-sprays--

to never have to get another injection...

    Tricorders--

    just plain cool.

Phasers--I can't count how many times I could have used one !!!

  9. OK, everyone get ready for this...

In an AP story in our local newspaper, the mental health agencies in the state of Oregon are looking for Klingon interpreters. It seems they have mental patients that only speak and understand Klingon.

Talk about life being stranger than fiction!
