Memory Alpha also points out that the 22nd Century Duras had an identical ridge pattern to the 24th century Duras family.
-
How is this a cold war?
There is no open conflict, just factions attempting to undermine the history of other factions.
-
The 22nd Century Duras is Duras son of Toral and Toral is the name of the son of the 24th Century Duras. So that would be a very strong indicator that they are related.

That's another thing, too. It's gotten way too formulaic. The first episodes looking back were only funny because I was a little immature, but the new episodes are so reflective of this crazy world we're living in, that only the kids know whats really going on, but are too young to know what to do, and the adults don't have a clue but seem to think they do. They just poke fun at it!
Anyone see the Wal Mart episode
"It's too late for me boys, I have to buy this stuff!"
Saw it. It was decent.
Jack, it's not about the lampooning of scientology that I take issue with. But they actually went so far as to call it a money-making scam. They haven't done that to any religion (even Judaism, for all they've done with that). And it wasn't a hyperbolic twist like they normally do with plot lines (like a goat getting mistaken for Stevie Nicks, even the other members of Fleetwood Mac). They made no jokes in the actual ridicule of scientology.
It was funny with Tom Cruise at first, and if you remember, that started when Stan called Tom a mediocre actor, not when he knocked scientology. The people in the closet had nothing to do with putting down scientology.
But like I said, that joke got old REALLY fast.
I actually haven't seen Trapped in the Closet yet as I don't get Comedy Central and Fox only has up to season 6 (and some 7) in syndication.
-
I just got a very out-there thought: what if this is a hoax?
Now hear me out. This is very unlikely, but think about it--Isaac Hayes has had no problem with Matt and Trey in the past, and didn't have any issue with Trapped in the Closet when it first aired. Now all of a sudden, coincidentally 1.5 weeks from the season premiere, this comes out of left field? What if...what if this is all just an elaborate set-up to a Chef-related series premiere?
Yes, it's highly unlikely. But it'd be a rather clever marketing campaign, and I wouldn't put it past the South Park guys to pull something like this off.
Hayes wasn't happy at the time it aired (Chef does not appear in Trapped in The Closet) but this could have something to do with the episode being banned in the UK because cry baby Tom Cruise threatened to sue if it aired.
Matt Stone and Trey Parker did make a good point about lampooning Scientology. Basically, they said that they had to do it because to make something "off limits" would be belittling everything else they have already lampooned in the past. And Tom Cruise are an extremely easy target.
And hey, these guys have had absolutely no reservations about making fun of themselves and their own religions.
-
Have to agree with Matt Stone and Trey Parker on this one. Hayes has made money and said nothing when South Park lampooned every other religions (just last night, I watched a hilarious episode where David Blaine starts his own religion and is fought by the Super Best Friends (Jesus, Buddha, Shiva, Tao, Moses, the founder of Mormon, Mohammed and Seaman with his partner Swallow
). But suddenly when they set their sites on Scientology, it's religious intolerance, ridiculous. I'll miss Chef but what are you going to do?
-
it's been done in the comics could it be done on the big screen after X3?
one way to go to make a change in the series...
patrick stewart could play both lead roles of picard and prof x.
it would be kinda cool to see corsair and some of the starjammers facing off agianst riker etc.
riker would actually make a half decent corsair too...
Stuff like that is best left for non-canon. TNG and X-Men movies are crowded enough as they are, crossing over would be ridiculous.

With St. Patrick's day this Friday, I've decided to go with another theme week. This time around its Irish week, with questions concerning all things Irish in the world of Star Trek.
May the luck of the Irish be on your side as you answer this week's questions.
But not too much, we can't be having another six-way tie!

What topic have you thought would be good for Star Trek, in it's many forms, deal with. It's often been said that Star Trek is a soap opera in space. I personally would have found it interesting for DS9 to see them deal with domestic abuse. Don't call me sick or anything, just how Odo would react to see "solids" hitting each other in a marriage. Plus, it would be odd to say the least that domestic abuse still happens in the 24th century.
Domestic abuse came up in one episode of DS9 but only in passing. In Crossfire, Odo mentions that a Bajoran resident named Ijarna had been assaulted by his wife again. Kira wonders why he stays with her as this isn't the first time. Odo then goes onto explain that he later caught the two engaging in "public lewdness" on the Promenade later that same night.
And Odo's reaction really was much to talk about.

I own all ten on Special Edition DVD, Nemesis and First Contact on regular DVD, and the first nine on VHS.
Hmmm...I should probably try and sell those two regular DVDs when I try and sell the BSG miniseries on DVD (since I have it on season 1).

Interesting, maybe the letters after "N" tell us what type of ship it is.
There must be some sort of relation between the defiant and the Enterprise NX
NX denotes a prototype ship (the first of her class). The major examples are Enterprise (NX-01), Excelsior (NX-2000 (later changed to NCC) and Defiant (NX-74205).
In reality, NCC is really just the first part of an airplane registry (NC) with and extra C thrown on the end. 1701 was selected as the registry for the original series Enterprise becasue the numbers were easily readible from a distance.
-
I said that I had a THEORY that "N" stands for navigation.
Just curious, does anyone know what the Defiants registry number is?
NX-74205
-
In that matter, what does USS stand for?
United Starship in all likelihood.

I just found this at Memory Alpha:
McFadden's birthdate is somewhat controversial; official promotional material from Paramount lists her birthday as August 28, 1953 while the IMDb lists it as March 2, 1949. However, McFadden apparently admitted that she merely made up those dates as she was uncomfortable with revealing her true birthdate. So, who knows.

I think they say it on an episode of Star Trek <_<
To answer the question, NO.
They do in DS9's season 6 episode "Valiant", Jake calls it "the Moon" and Cadet Dorian Collins corrects him and tells him that only people that have never been to Luna still call it "the Moon".
You've got that backwards, Jake calls it Luna since it techincally isn't "the Moon" anymore since there are many moons in the galaxy.
That's right, he calls it Luna and she says "Anyone that's lived on the Moon doesn't call it Luna, that's just something they say on Earth."
That's not one of my favorite episodes but I knew one of them called it Luna lol.
Yeah, I remember you saying you usually skip that one when rewatching DS9.
I actually don't mind it but I can see why you avoid it. The Red Squad members are really irritating after a while.
