  1. Do you guys hate Shinzon or do you feel sorry for him?  I don't condone anything he did, but I think he was a victim from the moment he was born.

I definitely loved the character. He was absolutely delicious!!!

I do agree that his life experience led him on the path he was on. I also believe though that it was within him to have chosen to take a different path. Anger, bitterness and revenge are very powerful and destructive.

shinzonfan, I hope you liked the spotlight. When I was trying to decide who to do first for my "new feature" I thought "hey shinzonfan would like this" Don't you just love that top picture. Gives me shivers.

Thanks for thinking of me. You'll never get me to shut-up on this topic. That picture is awesome. He looks like how I feel in the morning when I have to get up to go to work. I'd much rather be here all day feeding into my obsession of Star Trek. If I ever have a house, I am going to devote a whole room to Star Trek and build a shrine to

Shinzon. I know, too much information. Sorry, I just get carried away sometimes.

I believe it was in him to choose another path as well. I wish he would have so I could have hope of seeing him again. He is an excellent character. Do you think it would have been too corny to end the movie with Picard changing Shinzon's mind and they lived happily ever after...kind of thing?

  2. According to the American Heritage Dictionary:

Unitarian Universalism  - a Christian sect with no specific creed. Believes God is uni-personal, salvation is universal and conscience and reason are the criteria for belief and practice.

Thanks Yillara and UnicornHunter. That helps, but UnicornHunter what does "God is uni-personal" mean?

  3. I don't think it's possible here. What I mean by that is, if in the future we are able to travel and go to other planets as they do in ST, then I think we will form colonies of people who have the same values and belief systems. And they will not tolerate some of the things that happen here. Just like in some of the ST episodes when visitors come to a planet like in TNG "Justice" and "Angel One". They have very strict laws to protect their peace. Other planets won't even accept visitors for this reason.

I think what will be our downfall is overpopulation. The more people you have to more values and ideals differ. Not to mention space. At the rate we a multiplying, we will run out of space and be right on top of each other. That's why big cities have such high murder and crime rates; too many people in one place.

  4. Here's my question: When the Schimitar pulled back...  how come the Enterprise wasn't dragged forward as the Schimitar ripped free? :o I'm not a nitpicker, just currious.

Because that's what it said in the script--just kidding Captain. Of course you are correct, that's what would have happened but it was more fun the other way.

As for Roetae's question--I have to disagree with you. I thought the ramming scene was very creative. I don't even know of another movie that has done something like that. I thought it was awesome.

  5. Thanks everyone. I haven't been on the boards for about 4 days and theres already hundreds of promotions and thousands of posts to catch up on, o.k. slight exaggeration. Thanks again everyone!

  6. Common sense dictates that the 500 mark would be reached through my own efforts, not yours. Is anyone else with me???????

VBG, I realize you aren't going to let me win this one....as always, I am left shaking my head in frustration!!! LMAO ;)

Although I'm with you on this one luvin1stdegree, saying so just may get me be banned from the boards. I think VBG owes you a public apology. :D

You're right UhuraRiker, you miss a lot when you go to bed early. You are also right about the avatars. At first I thought VBG had developed a multiple personality disorder. :D

  7. Yes please do bring significant others with you.  If your partner doesn't want to attend Trek related things then there is still a lot to do in Vegas.  The convention doesn't run 24 hours a day so there would still be plenty of time to do things together.  Maybe we'll have a displaced partner area for all of the men and women who get ditched by the Trek fan they love.  They could commiserate together and maybe make some new friends themselves. ;)

Takara, when I'm ready to spring this convention on him, I'll be sure and have him read your post. If he his teetering on the edge and just can't make up his mind whether or not we should go, I'm sure your "displaced partner area" will be just the thing to sway him. :D

Will they they get t-shirts as well? His could read, "I'm the displaced partner of Shinzonfan"

  8. I would love to go but my fiancé and I have been fighting about how much time I have been spending here with you guys (that's why I haven't been posting as much). I don't know how I would ever convince him to let me go. Anyone have any suggestions? Unless of course we are married and divorced by then. --Only joking.

I'll have to get back to you on this one.

  9. Bring back Data (in a legitimate manner) so we can all be happy again!!!

O.K. Soong sisters, don't persecute me for this but ...people die, it is a fact of life. Data wanted to be human more than anything. What else could make him come closer to being human than sacrificing himself for his "family"; not to mention earth and whatever else the Remans were planning on conquering. I wish they never killed data but since they did we must go on. The first step is acceptance.

  10. I think I didn't like season 1 very much cause it felt like the actors were still figuring out who their charactor was. After that they seemed more comfortable in their roles.

I agree with you UhuraRiker. Especially when it comes to Data. I think his character changed more over the years than anyone else's.
