  1. I loved the movie. I was reserved about going as I had the original cast in my head BUT the actors did such a terrific job. I realised that the little movements and poise/lines suggested the characters so well that I just forgot that they didn't look like the original characters. Also the non-stop action and the fact that the story kept warping along made me forget my little reservations.

It was thoroughly enjoyable and when everyone left the cinema the place was buzzing! Everyone was excited! My sister and I both had a really depressing and soul destroying week at work so to wind up the week with a good dose of rollicking space adventure was wonderful! My 9 year old niece watched the movie and hardly blinked. She hasn't stopped talking about it. It was the same with the adults in the cinema. As for my niece, I think she is developing into a real fan. Nice to catch them when they are young! Call me selfish, but I hope renewed interest in ST will mean I'm still able to watch new tv series and movies right up till the day I die. Great job guys. I'll guarantee you don't have to be a Star Trek fan to like this movie.

  2. Personally, I really liked this movie. I felt it was a movie in its own right but at the same time it paid great respect to the original producers/directors/writers of the original movie and of course to Christopher. I watched the special feature DVD on the making of the movie - sometimes I wish I didn't- but it is amazing the transformation Brendon went through to become Superman. Yes, he is not Chris - but he played Superman with great feeling. Personally I find this movie always leaves an ache in my throat and the effects were great.

My sister and I saw the movie and we went through the whole gammit of emotions. Even the young fellows behind us who were canning the movie in the first 10 minutes changed their minds and were roped in. I think it was just good plain entertainment with a good story, which is sadly missing in a lot of movies today. A copy now proudly sits in my DVD collection!

  3. Does anyone know if you can get a desktop of the Rigel 7 scene from The Cage? You know the scene with the castle, moon behind and pink sky.. where Pike relives his battle on Rigel 7.

    Thanks for you time.

  4. :) When you go to drive forward and reverse instead in a fit of giggles as a picture of Spock and Kirk - A Piece of the Action- forms fully in your head.

When a kid in your class tells you in complete seriousness that a quarter of 100 is 20 and you have to stop from giggling your head off as 'Who Mourns for Morn' comes into your head. Eventhough I do have to do some serious revision on fractions.

  5. Yes, I would watch Enterprise as I love sci-fi and try to fill my viewing week with as much as I can. Though I must say of all the sci-fi Trek rules!

Can't stand some sci-fa shows though like Taken.

Mind you the only thing that annoyed me about Ent. was the obvious ratings grab attempt with the decontamination sequences. Annoying!!! and Unnecessary!!!

  6. Is there any difference between someone verbalising that type of language in a public place or displaying it visually in a public place? Both ways assult people's sensibilities and offend people. If someone was indecently swearing in public (public nuisance) I'm sure authorities would deal with the matter. If you wish to wear a shirt like that do it at home or among friends not in public.

  7. I don't know about you, but sometimes I am a little disappointed when I recognise an actor playing a different role from their usual role in Star Trek.

For example: Jeffrey Coombs playing so many different roles across the series. Don't get me wrong he does a great job!

Sometimes I wonder what a new actor could do with the new character if they were given the chance to apply their skills in the episodes.

This issue has only become apparent to me lately as I am watching boxed sets from DS9 and TNG.

    Share your thoughts. :veryangry:
