  1. Speaking of accidents, Dale Jarrett sure wasn't happy about being taken out by Shane Hmiel near the end of the race.  Hmiel's "reason" (lame excuse) made no sense - the little jerk oughta be fined! (IMHO)

    Yikes! I didn't see that. :P B)

  2. I was shocked at all the wrecks! It seemed like right after they got restarted, there'd be another one! B)

Tony Stewart really did make an incredible save when he spun. His driving has always impressed me. B)

And my man DJ placed in the top five for the first time this year! Maybe if they keep fine-tuning the car a bit, he'll actually win a race this year! :P

  3. If you don't have any luck getting what you need from the bank, you can always use Western Union's BidPay service. You buy the money order online and it's sent diectly to the seller, they also get an email confirmation that the money is on it's way.

If you're buying from someone in the US, the funds are automatically made out in US dollars.

There is a fee for the service based on the total amount of the money order, so you may want to check the site for the fee information before you buy. It's a great time-saver, but you do pay a bit more for the convenience.

    Good luck!

  4. I'm surprised that the cars don't have speedometers, since the pit road speed limit is so crucial.

I agree! I was surprised when I first heard this. You'd think because the pit road speed rule is for safety, they'd make it so the drivers are sure they're following the rule! Trying to tell your actual speed by the tachometer has got to be very difficult! :)

  5. It was a good race. I'm glad that all those involved in wrecks walked away from their cars safely. :yahoo:

Jarrett didn't do too bad considering all the problems he has had with that Ford. Hopefully they'll get the bugs worked out for the next race. Poor guy hasn't won in over a year now. :yahoo:

  6. I cheer for Dale Jarrett. :yahoo:

I'm getting impatient for the race to start right now!

I'm actually thinking Jarrett's going to do badly in this one. The Ford was a bit squirrely the last time he had it out on the track, so if his handling problems haven't been fixed, he's going to be out of the running pretty fast. :yahoo:

  7. Good topic!

I was just in a hospital, visiting my father in law before he passed away over the weekend. I really wish the waiting rooms for families of patients with an extended stay in the hospital were more kid-friendly.

Most of the ER's I've visited have at least had a toy or two and a few children's books.

The waiting room for this particular wing of the hospital had absolutely nothing to entertain a small child. And my father in law had wanted to see my daughter, so we brought her and when she got cranky, I took her to wait. There wasn't one darm kid-friendly thing in the whole waiting room!

From now on, we bring our own toys, but it's disappointing knowing that there isn't at least one item in that place to entertain a child with.

I also agree with the poster who said that small children should be left with a sitter or other family member if possble. Of course, there are those times when the sick relative will want to see the child, like in my recent situation.

As a child, I spent many hours waiting in hospital waiting rooms. With the exception of one hospital, where they had a kid's play room, none of them had anything that would even remotely interest a kid, other than the TV. Blech.

  8. She complain that he sandwich wasn't made "just right"

Let me guess, the pickles weren't evenly spaced or some other asinine thing? :spock:

I don't miss the food service industry at all!

I normally post my more nutso encounters with customers in my personal log. One of my former bosses had these words of wisdom, "We are in the business of serving customers, not being abused by them!"

  9. Hmm... I used to work in a restaurant and at times we were very tempted to dunk an obnoxious customer in the deep fryer!

I've also been tempted at my current job a couple times to place misbehaving children in a box and ship them to Timbuktu. Never did it though... shipping to Timbuktu is not cheap! :spock:

Like the rest of you, I'd never hurt anyone... but it's a good release sometimes to come up with these things in your head.

  10. I was quite well-known for fictionalizing entire reports for my history class in 8th grade. I never got less than a B because the teacher appreciated my creativity! B)

Beyond that, I don't think I care to admit the kinds of things I used to get away with. :waaaa:

  11. I also agree about a person's nationality not being a big deal to me. I grew up in a diverse place and Trek is very ethnically diverse as well.

I just never notice that sort of stuff because I think of all people as just people. They may be nice, they may be mean, but we're all just people.

  12. As a former manager in the foodservice industry, I always give generous tips, especially when the service is beyond expectations.

I also take the time to individually thank servers and other waitstaff that go out of their way to give good service. We had our company party tonight at a local restaurant and I thanked each person individually on the way out the door for their hospitality. It's amazing how far a few words of thanks will go.

I once went into our dumpster to attempt to locate a lost retainer for a panicked customer. When I didn't end up finding it after two hours of going through everything, I called the customer and instead of getting a thank you, was chewed out because of *our* carelessness! I mean, we were so old and callous that I actually climbed around in garbage in an attempt to help. How evil am I?

  13. Luckily most schools here don't require it. My mom was forced to take it when she was in high school and college and instilled a great fear of the language in me.

  14. The War - Second Coming

    Click For Spoiler
    "THE WAR"

I was enlisted at the age of twelve

    Back then, it seemed

    I was cheated

There was a thousand miles between us

    And I can't see a damn thing

    Takin' a ride

    I'm off to the (war)

    They all knew I wasn't

    Coming home

    My ticket's burned

    I don't know why

    Unlucky am I

    The end was coming

    My patience running out

There was no hope to speak oj

    Inside

    I was down to pennies

    If there was anyway

    To sell my soul

    I surely have tried

    But now I'm back with

    A fist full of words

    Layin' down some blues

    That you ain't never heard

    Life is just groovy

And it tastes like it should

    I got me a hawg

And a place in the woods

    Lungs full of herb

    And it's all good!

    Takin' a ride

    I'm back from the war

    Think it's time they all

    Knew I was home

    My ticket's good

    I'll tell you why

    How lucky am I!

If home is where it's at

    Do I get another chance?

    This time around

I said if home is where it's at

    Do I get another chance?

    I'll bring you a

    Taste of war

    How lucky am I!

    My ticket's good

    I'll tell you why

    How lucky am I?

    Or so I pretend

This song reminds me so much of the tough times I have had in my life and reminds me to be thankful every day for the fact that I'm still here and living. :waaaa:
